Celebrities who are quoted in support of nudism - who are they?

Alanis Morissette, Andie MacDowell, Elle McPherson, Helen Mirren, and Jenny Aguttar, Kevin Bacon, Callista Flockhart, Pam Anderson and Shania Twain all reportedly like to walk around the house nude, as reported by several of our members.

A few other celebrities who are into social nudism and/or nudity at home are the comedian/actor Tim Allen, actress Erin Grey (from the old TV series "Buck Rodgers" and "Silver Spoons"), who in fact grew up as a nudist, and the actress (I can't remember her name) who plays Sabrina on "Sabrina the Teenage Witch". Also, I remember that one of the Redgrave sisters (unsure if it's Lynn or Vanessa) is into nudism.

Thanks Seneca, and all the other members that have contributed information so far.

Right here let's bring together some verifiable quotes from our favorite celebrities in support of social nudism. Please include the exact quote, and a link to the source of your information.

Here's a link to Kevin's Secret Celebrity Nudism Quote Google Search Tool. Shhhhhh... aren't secret tools cool? Just put your favorite celebrity's name between the quotes where it says "celebrity name".

Don't worry about how to format your comment, just put the quote in quotes and include the link after. I'll probably add some images and fix the oversized links later anyway.

I wonder how many of these celebrities still go nude now that they're older with families

Brooke Bolea, who is Hulk Hogan's daughter, said on TV a few weeks ago that she is nude whenever she can.

Open letter to Brad Pitt --

Dear Brad:

You know, you'd be free from the papparazzi in my backyard.

Best,

I honestly believe that Alanis Morissette would live naked 24/7/365 everywhere she went if it wouldn't cause too much of a disturbance. But then again, SO WOULD I :-)

William McInnes admits his preference for nudism
By Margaret Wenham
September 20, 2008 12:00am

IT'S easy to get sucked in by William McInnes.

Like when you ask the man who's a star quality staple of Australian film and television, who's also now turning out best sellers, whether he prefers acting or writing and he says - in all smiling earnestness - "I prefer nudism to anything".

And then there's the times he goes off on a tangent, reminiscing about companies that were around in the 1970s and their TV ad jingles.

"Pick 'n' Pay Hypermarket," he hums, before joining you in a laughter-laced, shrieking chorus of "Any old iron" from the old John Zupp commercials.

Melbourne-based McInnes is back in his old home state for the Brisbane Writers Festival. He's also here to promote his second autobiographical book That'd Be Right, released last month and already ensconced on the lists that matter.

A series of yarns forming a loose chronicle of McInnes' life growing up in Redcliffe - it's also a political and sporting history told in that wonderful vernacular of Queensland and the 1970s.

Words such as grundies and dacks and expressions like getting creamed by someone, after which you'd crack the s ... s.

Australians, he tells The Courier-Mail, define themselves through sport and politics.

Certainly such things were defining for the 44-year-old McInnes, whose parents' involvement in Labor and lively commentary on the personalities of all political persuasions made their mark.

McInnes finally comes clean. Both acting and writing are personally rewarding.

"I like a bit of everything and the good thing is you don't have all your eggs in one basket," he says.

McInnes says one of the rewards of writing is the correspondence he receives from readers who relate to the times, places and events he's writing about.

He's soon to start another film, Blessed, while one he's finished, Prime Mover, should premiere early next year. But is there another book on the boil?

"A history of nudism in football and I'm going to call it Showertime," he says, his brow creased with mock sincerity.

McInnes will be speaking at the Writers Festival at the State Library of Queensland at 4.40pm today.

WILLIAM McInnes will speak at the Brisbane Writers Festival today in The Marquee at the State Library of Queensland from 4.40pm and tomorrow at 10am at the same venue.

No offense Admin, but I think it was mostly tongue-in-cheek. Has it been a while since he's made any headlines?

It sounds like he was just looking to start some publicity although 'tormented soul' may be true, considering the toll that Hollywood takes on people...

Nobility is not a birthright, it is defined by one's actions.

Inside Alec Baldwin
2:25 PM on Wed Sep 3 2008
By Kyle Buchanan Defamer.com

"In East Hampton, I’m a nudist and I eat meat," Baldwin—a vegetarian—had said before my visit, expanding on the idea that he lived a quite different life on Long Island than he did in New York. "I shoot deer with a bow and arrow. I smoke the deer meat and eat it every morning with my eggs and toast. I am a homosexual. I listen to rock music, loud." We had met at his house. Baldwin was wearing sandals; his shirt was untucked. There was nobody else at home.

Since we're on the topic, it may be noted that Daniel Radcliffe, aka the young man who played Harry Potter, is playing a nude role in England in a play that (I've heard) will be coming to America. While not a nudist venue, this is a positive statement for body freedom- especially since Daniel could have his choice of roles at this point. Further, he has a very body-accepting attidue about it all that he has made public that can teach us all.

I think textiles often write these stories off, thinking it is just the "privilege of those eccentric rich and famous types". I don't many people have thought: "Hmmm...Britney Spears is frequently nude around her kids? Wow. I think this may actually be worth trying!" The people who supported her in many blogs and articles were...people who already went nude around their kids! No deep social change will arise from celebs that enjoy some form of nudity; it is just cool for us to hear that actors/actresses we enjoy share a common interest with us. And so we should not try to read too much into it.

Other prominent figures are pretty much put in the same basket as celebs. If it came to light that Hillary was often nude at home, or a paparazzi pic of her sunbathing nude came up, I'm not sure it would cause the upheaval one might expect. But if she came out at a political forum endorsing nudism and including equal topfree rights for women on all beaches as part of her platform, now that would start an intense debate!

I am not sure that knowing which celebrities are into nudism is such a good thing. When one considers how screwed up many of these people are both personally and within their family lives their numbers may actually discredit our lifestyle, not validate it. In the real world celebrities really don't matter very much.

Now what would be really interesting is how many military, civic, religious, and political figures are into the lifestyle. Think what a stir that would cause, if everyone knew. I wonder how many of them are members of this website? Hillary, are you there? Obama? Romney?

Drew Barrymore's nude sprint
BANG Showbiz
azcentral.com - Jan. 23, 2007 07:44 AM

Drew Barrymore loves to run naked in Irish fields.

The actress - who claims she has outgrown her wild teenage years - admits she still loves to be spontaneous sometimes.

Drew confessed to Parade magazine: "I'll drive in Ireland and park my car and run out into the field and rip all my clothes off and just run in the wheat fields naked. That's for no one to see. That's to have that freedom of feeling at one with nature. So I am completely unguarded, still."

The 31-year-old star admits she still finds it difficult to forget her troubled childhood, but is determined to remain positive.

'Autumnwatch' star reveals nudist love
From digitalspy.co.uk - Tuesday, November 20 2007, 09:18 GMT
By Alex Fletcher

Autumnwatch presenter Kate Humble has revealed that she is a fan of getting naked outdoors.

Humble, who works with Bill Oddie on the BBC2 wildlife show, has said that one of her favourite pastimes is stripping off in the sunshine with her husband.

She told The Sun: "One of life’s great joys is dancing naked in the sun. It makes me feel so good.

"Even now, there are all sorts of places in the world where you can take your clothes off and not be seen."

"Celebrities"? Who cares?
Are you saying you would not venture into nudity if you did not know that "beautiful people" or the like might do so as well?

Certainly we appreciate support for naturism, but isn't it just for our own purposes that we experience the freedom and acceptance that results? When a celeb is spotted naked, there is publicity to be had. See the difference?

Hey Kimberly, please get rid of the notion kilts would be cool! :) Going nude is cool, but the thought of my skirt flying up in a sudden burst of wind is sobering!! :) lol.......

Well then, perhaps it is time for us to stand up and be counted and put our argument forward.
If only one side of an argument is presented, then how is it possible for society to make an informed and intelligent decision.
The more we let these people go off unchecked, the harder it will be to practice nudism in the future.
We are NUDISTS/NATURISTS not paedophiles.Show them there IS a difference.
A big difference.
I would be willing to bet the ratio of paedophiles in the textile world, far out numbers the ratio in a truly nudist world.
That is why I applaude what Cher said. Not so much because of "what" she said, but "how" she said it,very matter-of-fact,completely normal, nothing wrong. My hat(and everything else) off to you Cher.

Cheers Kiwi
