Posted - 04/18/2008 : 02:35:06 AM At nudist parks I've been to, I've often noticed disposable razors sitting in the showers, obviously left behind by someone else. Some of these showers have been in the clubhouse, while others are out near the pool.
I'd like to ask everyone if you think it's acceptable to shave oneself while there in a public shower, or rather wait until one is at home. I'm just talking about a quick touch up, not a complete head-to-toe shave. For the record, I'm not a complete smoothie but simply shave my scrotum.
Thanks! |

Posted - 03/19/2017 : 1:02:32 PM I think you should find out what is the general practice at a place you go. Touch ups would be fine but contorting yourself to get the odd bits might be a bit awkward....

Posted - 08/10/2008 : 9:39:48 PM About 2 months ago we spent 4 days at a resort. I always start the day with a long run and then a shower. it was still early but there were a few guys showering so i just took my shower and then shaved myself. I kind of noticed that they were watching me. The second day one of them mentioned to me i shouldnt be shaving there.i asked why and he couldnt answer me. he just said its not right so i continued to do it for the rest of my stay. Its part of my morning routine and i didnt leave the razor there.

Posted - 08/05/2008 : 5:52:03 PM I have just come back from a visit to a French nudist resort. Being a smoothy for over 25years I found it no problem at all shaving in the comunial washroom and showers. No funny looks or comment and I was not alone in 'keeping up apearances'.

Personally, I'd be more concerned about all the old razors being left around the showers than any shaving etiquette . These represent not only a huge danger of creating a gaping wound when someone steps on one of them, but also adds the risk of many other illnesses including hepatitis, tetanus, etc...
You should notify the management and make them aware of this problem as well as keep an eye out for the person(s) leaving these old razors laying around before someone gets seriously injured.
This is absolutely the right answer.
In a good nudist place, there's a sense of family, but that doesn't mean we can all share our diseases. It does, to me, mean that we can sh*t, shower or shave in front of each other in a way that carries no meaning at all in the way we relate to each other. But the limits are at the skin. Just because we all feel like family doesn't mean we are all ready to be sick and/or die together.

Posted - 05/30/2008 : 11:14:24 AM Oh, what is the problem? Nudism involves a lot of people from different backgrounds with different interests. A nudists don't we pride ourselves on our tolerance? May people shave their pubes. It's jut part of being who we are. I shave, and do it frequently at home. I'm not going to change that when I'm at a nudist resort where I can practice my chosen lifestyle as I want. Do it naturally - don't make a big thing of it! |

Posted - 05/10/2008 : 1:59:34 PM I was in the pool shower at our nudist park shaving,(pubic area) when this older lady came in and saw me. She just gave me a look and took her shower and left. I was concerned that she might complain, so I went to one of the ladies that shaves in the shower and told her. She said that it was ok for me to shave in the shower. I am a male but there are not many men at our club that shave, so I couldn't ask one of them at that time. |

Posted - 04/19/2008 : 08:12:55 AM I know in the past we have shaved in showers, but before we leave we make sure that the shower floor would be clean of any hair. Needless to say during the summer months we are both comp. smooth, so there is very little to shave off, since we shave every day.
You have to keep up appearances!!!!!
It was in the 70's yesterday, and it was the first day we were able to sit in the back yard in the "buff"!!!
Bring on the heat!!!
Remember we are here for a short time, so let's have a good time.

Posted - 04/19/2008 : 07:25:50 AM Having camped @ a few resorts for a week+ I have shaved many times in a public shower, as do other people I go with. I wouldn't do it in the showers in front of the pool, but if those are the only ones I would. In Glen Eden I, and many others, shave in the showers right next to the heated indoor pool. It's not a 'Pool Shower', but a very public shower room.
I don't see an issue with it, but like anything, don't be a showoff :D

Posted - 04/18/2008 : 4:03:55 PM Why should you neglect your personal grooming just because it is in 'public'? I shave, others shave, I put on deodorant, others put on deodorant. I brush my teeth, others brush their teeth. (which is probably far more objectionable than shaving ever will be) I've even been known to comb my hair in public. Toss the disposable razor in the garbage and take the rest with you in your shower bag. |

Posted - 04/18/2008 : 1:00:10 PM Hi All,
I've seen this once at my club. It was in the morning and a lady was taking a shower and starting the day. It didn't bother me at all, and didn't seem to any of the other guests. |

Posted - 04/18/2008 : 10:46:46 AM I'm assuming you're talking about pubic area shaving because one could be shaving their legs (most women and some guys) or their face...most guys. So I'm assuming you're asking about pubic area shaving due to the razors on the pool deck question
First...I'd be cautious about using a disposable razor left in the shower, used by someone else (this does not imply you were going to do so).
Second...I think a touch up shave in the shower is okay. Many of us do shave in the shower and I don't see anything wrong with a touch up. Full on grooming, of the pubic area, should probably be done in your own shower or back at you accomodations, in my opinion.
Lastly...I don't think it's a good idea and could make some uncomfortable to have another shaving near the pool or anywhere else nearby others.
I guess the arguement could be made that we, as naturist/nudists, shouldn't be uncomfortable with another shaving ones pubic area but I think that if you visualize all the contortions one makes to shave ones pubic area....it's better left to the shower or your own accomodations.
Just my opinion!
