Posted - 07/26/2009 : 08:35:04 AM I am a newbie at the whole nudism thing. Here's a little background:
I haven't really been taught nudism was bad, but I do know my parents don't understand it. They wouldn't mind us walking around the house in our underwear/boxers in the morning or at night, but never naked. Also, I've never felt comfortable being seen even with my shirt off, and i'm a guy, so i was always fully clothed anyway. I never had much privacy in my house either, because even if I locked my door my family would just unlock it and come right in without knocking. (it was a simple bedroom lock that could be opened with a fingernail, screwdriver, or anything flat and slim). Because of this, Ive always been afraid to even sleep with my clothes off.
When I got into a relationship, my gf moved in with me at my parents house. They stopped coming in without knocking and stopped unlocking the doors on me and started giving me more privacy. My gf hated it when i slept with my clothes on, and eventually got me into sleeping in the nude. Now I hate sleeping with clothes, and now even enjoy relaxing in my room naked.
One of my really good friends moved out of my home state two years ago, and now I am living with her. Her bf likes to be nude when nobody is home except for her. Everybody sleeps naked, including my other roommate. Since whenever Im in my room relaxing, i am undressed, I want to do my best to help everybody be comfortable seeing each other as nudists.
The first thing I am going to do is ask my friend if she wouldnt mind if i walked around the house naked at night to get a drink, grab something to eat, or use the bathroom so i dont have to throw on a pair of shorts just to leave the room. Hopefully this goes well, since shes usually pretty opened minded.
Now this is where I need some advice. I want to know how to approach my new roommates with the whole nudist idea, so I can be comfortable, not only in my room, or just at night, but at any time of the day that I am home being nude. Hopefully the first step goes well.
If there is any advice on how to approach them, what to say, etc. please reply. Thanks!

Posted - 07/30/2009 : 3:06:42 PM It sounds like you may already have hit on the formula. Walking "around the house naked at night to get a drink..etc....so i dont have to throw on a pair of shorts just to leave the room" -- this links being nude with a logical clothes-free situation. Why not expand that? Ask everyone whether they would be ok with you sometimes being nude around the house during the warm summer months, rather than always getting dressed to leave your room?
Many years ago in a roommate situation, I did something like this by asking if we could apply "french beach rules" at home during summer. All four roomies not only agreed, but switched over to being completely casual about home nudity themselves. And of course once having got used to it, nobody wanted to go back to dress-stress. |
