We moved our domain control to another account and the DNS was messed up for a while. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I was working with a technician and today we got it sorted out.
Everything is back to normal so we can enjoy the site again. |

I've checked in multiple time a week for many years, even though I don't post often. One thing that should be considered in any update is encryption. That is the way the internet as a whole is going and soon the browsers will enforce the requirement. (ie. block ALL unencrypted sites)
There are now ways to get free encryption certificates so the investment is mostly time. But it will likely also help curb the increasingly common hacking attempts that keep taking this site down.
And yes I know security often seems more trouble than its worth until a site with decades of content disappears for good. |

While I'm a keen photographer and love what you can capture it's hard to capture thoughts, feelings and opinions. The forum is good in that people have to think about what they are saying, and we all get it wrong from time to time as we are mis-understood or fail to get our intention across clearly but it helps bring out the discussion. Sometimes photos are an easy out although they are great at showing places, recording events and people. A time and place for both I think. SBN.

Thanks for the time and effort that you put in to the site up and running. While it would be nice to share, in pictures, this way of life, just being able to share ideas and thoughts is good also! |

The ability to upload material disappeared many years ago when the site required updating to a more efficient database format.
I'd have to hire a serious ASP programmer to fix that. Funding for said programmer would be necessary.
In the meantime, I've always offered to upload any needed pics or avatars manually. It takes a little time but a lot less money. So far we've survived without having to monetize the site. Still I'm interested in your ideas. |

Late chiming in but glad to see the site back up, hoping it was temporary!
Changes to the site ... only thing that would be a nice change is to make it easier to post a pic with a post, for us that are computer challenged.

I'm another daily user. Maybe the software is ancient but dog gone it...it works and its pretty user friendly too. Maybe lacks in certain areas but it works. |

I check in daily too, make a few comments. This has happened to a couple of other sites I'm involved with, seems technology changes too fast. Main thing seems to be that old information and data is transferred to the new / updated site so its accessible and searchable. Cheers, SBN. |

I too am glad to see this site back on line. Although there isn’t as much activity now as there used to be I check in almost everyday. I think it works quite well and would not like to see it change, but it probably is appropriate. Learning new software is always problematic, but it becomes necessary after a while. I don’t mind changing things to make them better, but I oppose changing things just to make them different.

It's good to hear from y'all.
I've been considering the future of this site. Obviously we want to keep it going. It's long overdue for a major overhaul with modern software. The folks that designed this software aren't around any more. It's ancient.
Still, it's not so bad just as it is. Your thoughts?
By the way, that outage was not the fault of the software, just a hairy mistake when moving the domain to a different registrant account. |
