Posted - 01/22/2009 : 12:22:21 PM Seems like we heard awhile ago that there was a clothing optional, high-rise hotel near Miami where there was a pool on the top floor of the hotel.
Was there a place like this down in that south Florida area, or is it still in operation? If it is still in existence, has anyone had any recent experience visiting there?
Thanks for any comments and information.

Posted - 11/08/2009 : 2:43:11 PM We have stayed at the Rooftop many times - always with a group of people we have travelled with for years.
The Roof does cater to lifestyles but never have had a situation there where I was not comfortable. Some of the people that live in the area that hang out at the Roof sometimes seem a bit miffed that there are others at their pool, but not a deal breaker.
I have not been back since 2008. The Roof tends to take a step forward than two large steps backward. It is not very clean and building needs some major updates. The stairs really need to be fixed, just to be safe!
But it has the great pool on the roof and a FABULOUS location in Hollywood. Walk to broadwalk and many wonderful restaurants.
We have found a place called the Seagate that I just stayed at 10/25-10/27/2009. It has recently become clothing optional and is in Ft. Lauderdale and I think it is also dubbed a lifestyle hotel. It has a ways to go, but is clean and quiet. Location is challanging, you do need a car to get to most places. |

Posted - 05/07/2009 : 11:58:07 AM Thanks for your Dependable follow-up, as promised, leesa123. I love your reliability!
It's wonderful to get an update that's current, also. Wish the experience for you was positive. Were there mostly couples or singles at the pool when you were there? I know what you mean when you say you don't fit in. That was really bad for you, and you deserved better, though I'm certain that you won't return to the Rooftop, again. We will avoid it and so will others who read how you felt.
Maybe we will just stick to our naturist resorts here in Pasco County [in the northern part of Tampa Bay]. Folks, pretty much, feel very comfortable at these places, including the one we frequent.
We're always curious about other nice places the two of us can visit in Florida, while dodging the awkward feelings that leesa123 experienced.
Any other ideas?

Posted - 04/29/2009 : 11:08:37 PM Well, what can I say, live and learn.. We stayed over for one night at the Rooftop and our room was not the cleanest.. The hotel appeared to be very run down and tacky. We did get to the pool, (it looked clean and pleasent) for a little bit, but it was cold and windy by that part of the day. We didn't fit in at all. I felt like a piece of meat, the way we were looked at. Very odd place.. Not for us. |

Posted - 03/08/2009 : 1:15:26 PM Thank you all for such terrific and straightforward information. Trust others reading this will greatly benefit from it.
That's it. The Rooftop Resort. That must have been the place that I heard about north of Haulover Beach. It's too bad that there isn't a more naturist friendly place that would cater to the Haulover folks somewhere nearby. You'd think that they would do extremely well, you know?
Yes, when you all Return to your Hotels you visited before, please be kind enough to give us an Update. We'd like to hear about the Latest News with these Hotels.
Thanks for the Tip about the possible inside-job of thefts at a local Miami hotel. These tidbits of information can Save all of us needless trouble and anxiety. It's wonderful to learn about things like this in Advance of a possible stay down there.
Keep all other Updates and places you've all recently visited Posted here for others to see! We'll follow your Guidance and experiences.

Posted - 03/06/2009 : 08:14:53 AM I've stayed at the "Beach Front Roof Top Motel" in Hollywood a couple times--once three years ago and most recently in early February this year. At five stories, I don't think it qualifies as a "High rise," but it does have a swimming pool on the roof. Unfortunately, there's no hot tub; that would have been welcome last month.
As you'll see at www.rooftopresort.com, they do cater to swingers, but my experience is that "action" is a little slow during the week. The pictures on the website are accurate--but definitely show the place at its best.
All the rooms face an atrium and nudity is OK within the atrium and on the roof.
I'd stay there again (in warm weather!) because I like the freedom of being nude, and it doesn't bother me if other people get sexually tangled with their blinds open.
Maintenance and housekeeping are not quite up to national chain standards. |

Posted - 03/04/2009 : 12:22:41 AM About eight years ago a group of us stayed at the Ocean Palm Motel and were delighted to be able to grab our beach stuff and walk down the beach to Haulover. How convenient.
We were shocked to return to our rooms to find several of them had been burglarized. The perpetrators left credit cards and other valuables, but just cleaned several of us entirely out of cash to the tune of hundreds of dollars. The establishment offered absolutely no support. Out of luck.
At the time, the locks were old, and management didn't care. Inside job? Cleaning ladies? Who knows. They seemed to know which rooms to hit, and when they were not occupied. Stay there at your own risk.
We found the Newport Beachside Resort to be a great value, and just a couple of miles away from Haulover. We had absolutely no problems with this establishment.
To get back on topic, the Rooftop is very lifestyle oriented, from what we've read in the trip reports. To each his own, but don't expect AANR values. |

Posted - 03/03/2009 : 07:04:51 AM Ocean Palm Motel advertises in "N" magazine. They claim to be the closest hotel to Haulover. What they Ad doesn't say is if their pool/private beach is C/O. No website.(800)231 6932 (review on Yahoo claims pool is often C/O at night, most guests staying there due to Haulover) You can walk to Haulover but most likely not nude (shorts/thong).

With all the recent hotel construction activity when we were there last year and being within walking distance to Haulover, I think a hotel like this would do very well with the tourists.
I agree. It looks like a lot of fun. We are always looking to meet new couples. Not crazy about single men being there. They seem to park next to us all the time.
Just an FYI, this is absolutely a swingers hotel and about 8 miles away from Haulover Beach. www.rooftopresort.com
Can't comment on the hotel as we've never been there. Not being judgmental, whatever floats your boat is your business. Just want to make sure those traditional nudists out there are making an informed decision should they decide to visit.
btw - that 8 miles will take you at least 30 minutes to drive even if there is just a tiny amount of traffic. But it is probably the only hotel near Haulover that has a clothing optional pool and I suspect is likely pretty tame during the day.

Posted - 02/22/2009 : 8:22:46 PM Hey Jackwebbster.
I believe the hotel you are speaking about with the pool on the rooftop is just that, The Rooftop Hotel. I know they have theme rooms and day passes. I've never been there, but might visit in April. Heard it's geared more for swingers, but boyfriend and I are going for the clothing optional pool and sun our bodies. Think we will get a room. It's Close to Haulover, so we can go back and forth to shower. If the atmosphere is too crazy. I'll fill you in. |
