Posted - 09/09/2010 : 04:51:08 AM I was at Solair in CT this past weekend and noticed several low flying general aviation aircraft circling the resort obviously gawking. I work in the aviation field and know the FAR altitude requirements for visual flight. I felt that these pilots were nothing but gawkers and felt uncomfortable and like I was on display. This is my first year as a nudist and was wondering if this is an issue at resorts and beaches and how nudist handle it.
The resort is really out in the country and the closest airport was over 5 miles away so low altitude visual flight wasnt necessary over the resort. And they were very low and circling the facility.
Has anyone every encountered this and how do you feel about it or handle it?

I dunno, 'skin. I wouldn't be too shocked to learn that the NSA can covertly activate my webcam to wee what, if anything, I'm wearing as I sit at my desk.

Posted - 11/25/2013 : 8:51:49 PM There is one comforting thought for nudists - we cannot be detected by being monitored by computers. A software program cannot not tell the difference between a clothed or a naked person.
The bad news is that conversations and emails can be monitored for keywords.

As the pilot of a helicopter that patrols a similar route every day, I can tell you, we can tell when people are probably nude but not enough to be sure or identify them. Even with the big TV camera there is little danger of being outed. I don't know about your very annoying helicopter, but I try to be as friendly as possible while on patrol. I vary my route often and keep a safe altitude. If I have to loiter over a scene, I use every technique in the book to reduce noise. I'm sorry the patrols near you are so annoying. I always feel good when I spot what might be a like minded person enjoying the sun. I also try not to discourage them by moving on as soon as possible. And we always wave back if we are waved at. |

Posted - 11/22/2013 : 10:32:17 AM Yeah ... the same goes for any Marine helicopter flying up and down the beach at San Onofre and the Coast Guard helicopter that flies up and down the coast and passes over Black's Beach. They all wave if you wave at them. On San O ... I've even seen a couple of vets stop, stand at attention and salute the passing helicopter.

Posted - 11/22/2013 : 08:24:23 AM Dare,
We have seen NASA's chopper several times while at Playalinda.
We always wave at them and the guy sitting in the side door always waves back.

Posted - 11/22/2013 : 06:47:31 AM It's not uncommon to see the NASA helicopter fly over Playalinda beach. Never saw any disrespect from anybody flying in it as they passed over. Most Everyone on the beach is relaxed with it. You may see a non regular visitor cover a bit as it passes by. |

You are, without a doubt, on their daily "flyover" route! hahaha
Not so sneaky bastards ... are they!?

Posted - 11/18/2013 : 01:09:52 AM Surveillance of everything we say, do, and think. Progress at its finest. Mandatory video cameras in our house is next. Stand by for that.
Meanwhile, here is semi-practical advice for foiling the attempts at aircraft peering down on us nudists. Click this link for examples: http://amazingstuff.co.uk/humanity/camouflaging-california/
Okay, enough hyperbolic imagination from me.

Hot Air Balloon rides and adventures are big out here where we live. We've had a few, on occasion, fly over and people wave.
Close enough to tell we were naked, not close enough to make out much detail. Only once did our nudist friends get a "thumbs up" and whistle. We were both inside fixing breakfast for our guests and missed it.

Those are the risks when you live in a tourist mecca, FireProf!
Early morning hot air balloons and biplanes from French Valley airport are one thing, but if a winery tour bus drives slowly passed your backyard patio during a nude breakfast you have grounds for a complaint.
Not sure how much it's a a tourist mecca but we do get our share of weekenders out here. Between Old Town, Pechanga Resort and the wineries ... I see where our neighboring cities refer to our city as ...
Trafficula!

Posted - 11/11/2013 : 1:41:01 PM Google Maps is more detailed in some areas than others. I pulled up our house, looked at our pool and if anyone had been floating naked in it you would be able to tell. A few years ago I pulled it up and could clearly see my dad on the tractor feeding the cows, this time I could tell the new resolution is even better.

Posted - 11/11/2013 : 12:19:17 PM Recently, Google Maps updated their satellite images in our area. They were taken in early summer, and my wife happened to be laying out on our patio. No detail at all, in fact if you don't know what your looking at, you couldn't tell, but I can. |
