Posted - 05/09/2012 : 10:18:55 PM Hello all,
This is my first official posting. I will be going to my first nude resort next month and would like some advice. I am a single male and I have two main fears: 1) unwanted erection-although I will be so scared about going, nothing below the belt may even work. 2) Looking like a gawker and not meaning to.
I would like to go and just relax, read or hit the pool at first. I would like some advice on what NOT to do. I already have been reading the posts about not to look at anyone below the neck or make any comments of any kind. All understandable. Anything else that anyone can think of?
Do guys carry towels with them wherever they go just in case? Or do they just excuse themselves and jump in the pool?

Posted - 05/20/2012 : 10:04:43 PM Congratulation on getting "Over The Fence". I know exactly how you feel taking that first step into a resort as a single male. I am so glad you had a positive experience. I am sure you are your return tips will be as pleasant as the first, if not better since the ice has been broken. Enjoy your hike on your next visit. |

I was thinking the same thing Mike. Just so we can still use OTF at times, you could use "Off The Fence". Glad you enjoyed your day. Rob |

Posted - 05/19/2012 : 11:20:02 PM Congratulations, OTF!!! The Sequoians is a nice place to visit. Because it is smaller, it's more friendly. It's fairly reasonably priced, compared to other places, as far as membership goes. After the first year, you can perform some kind of work on premises for half the otherwise usual membership fees.
I also like it because it's not searingly hot there. It has a bit of the cooling from the fog, and/or winds from the Pacific Ocean. That's not to say it's cold there, but is nicely temperate, versus a nudist resort in the central valley.
Also, make sure you take advantage of the potluck dinners they have on Saturdays evenings. Another feature they have is a kitchen with which you can make meals.
Overall, a nice small family kind of place.

Posted - 05/19/2012 : 8:03:59 PM Well I did it! I went to the Sequoians today for a quick tour before my meet up hike next month. Five hours later I left because I have to let my doggie outside and feed him. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and the people were very friendly. I will start marking my calender for other days to attend tonight. I will soon have to change my screen name from 'on the fence' to something like 'in like flynn'.

Posted - 05/18/2012 : 9:24:56 PM A thought occurred to me, and I'm taking advantage of this rare moment. My first time at a nudist resort (The Sequoians, in the Bay Area), was not unlike going to school for the first time. Remember that fateful day? I cried that day as I got onto the school bus, but a while later, when reality set in, and after being greeted by the kindergarten teacher, I was really into school!!
This is what we call "anticpatory anxiety." That kind of anxiety if far worse than actually experiening something. What we conjure up in our mind is almost always shocking, alarming, and even disturbing. When we arrive at our destination (in this case a nudist resort), it is anti-climatic. The real world is far less exciting than our imaginations.
As with our first day of school, as children, we let our imaginations go to work on us regarding what that first day would be like, and we build up irrational fears about what we are going to face. Once we arrive at school, things settle down inside us, as soon as we find out that the real experience is quite limited compared to our imagining of what might happen.
Once you arrive at a nudist resort, and have a look around, the novelty will wear off soon enough. You will not be the center of attention, and might not even be noticed, if you go to a large nudist resort for your first time. You'll enjoy feeling free from the confines of clothing, without being stared at. If you go to a small nudist resort, people will more likely be interested in who you are, versus what you look like.

Posted - 05/18/2012 : 08:45:43 AM Hello On the Fence, I completely understand your feelings, I was exactly in your spot about a year ago when I visited my first nudist resort as a single male. I did call ahead to make sure they were fine with single males and when I arrived and after signing in I started to relax somewhat. I was dressed when I entered the club house and one gentleman knew right off I was new. He was sitting in the hot tub, greeted me and asked if I had a towel for sitting. He then said get undressed, use the hooks on the wall to hang whatever, take a shower before getting into the hot tub or poll and enjoy the day. To my surprise from that point on I was not nerves at all and had no concerns about anything unwanted to happen. It turned out to be a great time and I hope to get back someday soon. Hope you have the same experience and enjoy your day. |

Posted - 05/18/2012 : 04:15:38 AM You'll see just a mass of humanity. Nothing exciting, and it could even be boring, unless you have something to do, or maybe something to read - depending on how socially outgoing the nudists are. After a few minutes there, it won't be a novelty anymore.
Don't look for sexuality at a traditional nudist resort; it just isn't there. Also make not that there are plenty of men there - not very sexy for the heterosexual. Thus, you will not have an erection. Don't worry.

Posted - 05/11/2012 : 11:31:45 PM I think part of the concern comes from ... too much concern!
If you treat going to a nude club or resort as you would any other club or resort you've ever been to, there shouldn't be an issue. If you go with sexual thoughts on the large brain, the little brain will react.
Just go, have fun, enjoy the environment and don't think about it so much!
Loves being naked. Plays well with others! |

Posted - 05/11/2012 : 5:25:19 PM mike, welcome to the forum , its always the norm everyone carries a towel, if they plan on sitting some where, every first time male must have had those same fears and what ifs?? and wondered why they worried about it now, although if it does and surely it could wear the towel, you are right, stareing at people is not welcome also, call the resort before your visit and confirm the welcome mat will be out and what they expect ect. Enjoy yourself and treat others as you would like to be treated and respected.

Posted - 05/10/2012 : 6:37:49 PM Hi OTF Welcome to the site. Since you have already read the multitude of other posts on first visits to resorts or beaches, there is no need to restate it here. Only advice I have is...relax, be yourself and just enjoy the day. |
