Posted - 03/26/2002 : 6:24:43 PM Sometimes the first few times a couple visits a nude beach, they feel the romance of the situation and become amourous on the beach. Not only does this usually make others uncomfortable, but the reputation of the beach as a safe, family destination is degraded. It also affects the reputation of nudists in general. This is the kind of thing the opponents of the nude beach are sure to bring up in the next county meeting. The next time the couple want to enjoy that beach, they may find that it has been closed, due to the lewd conduct of certain visitors. This is what we mean by "lewd it and lose it".

Posted - 03/02/2008 : 08:54:45 AM Will we allow the few (very few) lewd individuals to spoil it all? I sure hope not,why should we let them degrade our great c/o beaches, eg. Toronto installs fencing of the c/o beach, separating it from dunes and wooded areas, and you must be dressed to leave the beach and no where to hide. This helped reduce lewd behavior and co-operation from users and Top Cops keeps this beach from losing its designation. Not to mention the worlds tallest tower with zoom lens at their disposil they can count pebbles there. With video evidence, conviction is very swift indeed. They know the majority of users are law abiding and won't tolerate abominable behaviour and lose what took 1/2 a century to get officially legal.

Posted - 02/14/2008 : 6:21:07 PM We visited our first nude beach a few weeks ago. We had heard that it had a bit of a reputation for some lewd behaviour but didn't really expect to see any evidence of it, during the day anyway. However, there's definitely some gay cruising going on. We saw lots of single men walking around and at one point two men disappeared into the dunes for sex. There has been threats of closure of the beach and this sort of behaviuour by some men doesn't help. |

Posted - 02/09/2008 : 4:47:29 PM You needn't apologize Phydeau thats a good one undercover, I'm not sure just that they'll know what hand cuffs and jail time feels like and they will be in perfect company with so many like them. Its the nude beach users turn to laugh and they are over due getting much needed help, I heard they had many snapping pictures and just about every kind of deviate (sick puppy)one could imagine. Taxpayers should be treated the same as any Body regardless, its a crime why must we tolerate creeps.

Posted - 02/06/2008 : 07:12:17 AM Sexism verses Nudism, I quess like right and wrong. Thats one tough question and no easy quick fix answer, they've plagued co-op beaches that are not well patrolled by law enforcement or less crowded, if maybe regular patrolling and reporting of deviate behavior, the PD or rangers, they might realize, we're the victims of their sorry state and drive them away from spoiling it for the majority of decent Nudists to enjoy. In Quebec ca. front page news reported the Nude beach users were fed up with pervs spoiling their fun and Prov.Police would step in use helicopters and undercover officers to rid them of the problem they support the Nude beach instead of closing it. Co-operation helps.

Posted - 02/06/2008 : 04:35:57 AM go n nude, this actually raises a question for me.
If inappropriate behavior seems to be a growing problem, is it because there's a growing number of uneducated new members?
Perhaps this might be deserving of a new question. Nudism is one of the fastest growing forms of recreation in the country. It would seem that body acceptance on the whole is growing. Is it possible that it's a simple lack of etiquette training that's causing the problem?
If so, how can that be fixed? |

Posted - 02/06/2008 : 01:13:15 AM This problem seems to be threatening beaches World wide, and unfortunately its this "small" minority of mindless, senseless and diabolic individuals, who care less about our freedom to enjoy wholesome nudism. What really can we do? We've come a long way in public acceptance and goverment toleration, to see it detriment is a shame. Is it a losing battle?

Posted - 02/05/2008 : 10:35:11 AM In NC, it has since the '80s been illegal on gov't land to be nude. I dealt with it when I had campouts in the Pisgah Forest for my club and other nudists. Additionally, much federal land administration is turned over to local authorities such as the Circle in the Pisgah National Forest. Cheri

Nudity, sex acts prompt trail closing Bird-watchers seek a new spot for loft
Cheryl Johnston Sadgrove, Staff Writer
CHAPEL HILL - The state will close a mile of nature trails and a bird-watching area at Jordan Lake because of complaints about public nudity and sexual activity.
The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission is cutting access to the Indian Creek Wildlife Observation Area off N.C. 751 in Chatham County starting Friday.
Nudity, sexual solicitation and harassment have been a problem on the trails for years, said Isaac Harrold, manager of the State Lands Program. A recent increase has prompted the shutdown.
Last summer, uniformed commission enforcement officers issued 30 citations for public nudity alone, Harrold said. Recently, two male enforcement officers wore civilian clothes and walked the trails. Within an hour, men had solicited both officers for sexual acts.
References to Jordan Lake appear on several gay and nudist Web sites.
Harrold said the Wildlife Resources Commission doesn't have enough officers to respond to repeated problems there.
"It would essentially take full-time enforcement for a significant period of time to correct those problems. And we simply do not have those resources," he said.
The commission will block the parking lot with a cable. It will likely open the parking lot for hunters during hunting season, Harrold said.
It's up to the N.C. Department of Transportation to decide whether to post "No parking" signs along the stretch near the parking lot.
"We're hopeful that they may choose to do that," Harrold said.
The closure will mean a big change for the New Hope Audubon Society. The chapter, which has about 1,000 members across Durham, Orange and Chatham counties, has maintained a bird-watching platform at that location for 20 years.
That platform was badly damaged by wind in a 2007 storm and removed by volunteers. The society had obtained a grant and planned to rebuild it this spring. Now the society is working with the Wildlife Resources Commission and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to find a new site on Jordan Lake.
Thousands of bird-watchers used the old observation area over the years to observe American bald eagles fishing, flying and nesting, said Marsha Stephens, chapter president. Jordan Lake is also one of only two nesting sites in the state for the double-crested cormorant, she said.
The only commission-sanctioned trail at Indian Creek had led to the bird-watching platform, Harrold said. But nudists created another trail over time that led to the beach. Although there used to be more complaints about the unofficial trail, incidents in recent months have suggested that both trails now have problems, Harrold said.
Stephens didn't want to say much about the illegal activity that has crept into the society's bird-watching territory.
"It's an unfortunate coincidence that those two places are side by side," she said. "We definitely have two populations that are very different, that are there for two different reasons."

Posted - 03/28/2006 : 6:46:32 PM I have seen inappropriate behaviour going on at Alexandria Bay in Noosa, where a guy/girl couple were going at it in the middle of the beach.
Another instance was last year at Tyagarah beach in Byron bay where a hippy couple were having sex in the presence of their own children and others were watching.
Nobody said anything, although I was tempted to go up and kick sand in their faces and yell at them to knock it off.
Unfortunately, nudist beaches aren't very well policed in Australia and more often than not the councils petition to have them shut down.

Posted - 03/28/2006 : 09:46:00 AM Lewd activity is unfortunately all to common on the few nudist beaches we have here in the UK. The activities take various forms, as follows:
1. Lone males who hide in the dunes, and pop up to see nude women. We call these men "meercats" after those cute North African animals who stand on their hind legs to survey the surrounding area.
2. Gay males who meet in the dunes, often married men who wish to meet other men for sexual activity.
3. Swingers who like to swap partners for sex.
4. Doggers, who like to watched having sex.
These groups are attracted to nudist beaches because they think that nude=sex, or that they will get away with their activities because there are nudist around anyway.
Unfortunatley the police in some areas target the beaches because of the lewd activities, and arrest genuine nudists even though they haven't commited any illegal act. Nudity is not ilegal in the United Knigdom, although you wouldn't think so some times.
At Cap d'Age in France, there are some "non-nudist" activities that are accepted, there is an area of the beach where sexual acts occur and are accepted, and kinky clothes are worn around the resort in the evenings apparently!!!!!
I don't object to people wanting to have sex in the open, or in front of an audience, I just wish they wouldn't do it at a naturist beach.

Posted - 12/04/2005 : 6:30:18 PM Whenever I've visited Haulover and someone or a couple acts inappropriately, the reaction from the "nude police" has been swift. I've seen several people removed from the beach for inappropriate conduct. If people want a nude beach to visit, then they need to realize that it is a nude beach and nothing more. It is not a sex resort. Those places do exist if you want to visit one. There are just too many people who still associate sex and nudity issues as one and the same. I don't think we'll ever get it through their heads that they're not. Must keep trying though. |

Posted - 09/08/2004 : 12:58:57 AM Sloboy,
We talked about this over dinner tonight and are trying to come up with a two to three sentence paragraph that is non-confrontational yet gets our point across to those that are not only jeapordizing our clothing optional beach but breaking the law.
We have a sample leaflet put out by the Friends of San O Beach group that we will now keep several copies in our backpack chairs and hand them out to these people, hoping they will stop and either leave and not return or realize what they are doing and what we stand to lose.
I don't think they'll change there antics so I just as soon have them leave and not return. |

Posted - 09/07/2004 : 11:23:09 PM FireProf: I really appreciate your post and your past posts of enlightment on San Onofre clothing optional beach. I really felt that, upon my first visit last week, that there were alot of attitudes occupying San Onofre that demonstrate user's could care less about the uniqueness of the clothing optional beach area and the freedom that is being jeopardized by their selfish actions/activities. I hope that your posting effects others and that us who care, can obstuct the activities of those who just "don't give a damn."" SLOBOY
