Lately, we have been discussing this area as a possible nude beach in eastern virginia. Its pretty isolated, and hard to get to. Does anyone know anymore about this area and if its a likely nude spot? |

I ventured out to Grand View (Nature Preserve) once on a cloudy summer day to check it out as a possible nude sunbathing spot. It might be ok for some of the reasons listed previously. The best parts of the small peninsula on which to sunbath were also posted as off limits as they are plover nesting areas. So if the authoraties didnt get you on public nudity charges, they could still get you on wildlife trespassing charges. Probrobly less paperwork and less messy to argue in court for them.
The sadest part of being a nudist is putting clothes on to enter the textile world. |

The state of Virginia is so conservative that the police in Virginia Beach issue tickets for indecent exposure if swimsuit bottoms do not cover enough rear-end flesh. There is a specific code there which has a diagram detailing how much visible flesh is allowed by a swim suit. That's right, thongs and small triangles are illegal. You have to go to North Carolina to wear a thong because thongs are illegal in Virginia Beach, VA.
It would be great to have some legal clothing-optional beaches in VA. Good luck with that. Being caught nude on a public beach in Virginia could possibly get you a free listing on the sex-offender registry. With White Tail Resort so near, why take the chance?

While not officially nude, it's so deserted that you'll feel comfortable even in the smallest of bathing suits here.
The geography of the beach, with access only from one end, works well for discrete nude use. Walking a mile or so down the beach past the downed tree gives you ample visibility back up the beach of any approaching folks who might take offense. |

Well, there's never been any hassle there for me or for any of the other people I've seen topfree or clothing free at the beach. Just be discreet when people come around and everything's cool. |

Considering how close White Tail Resort is to Hampton, Va., I don't see why anyone would risk the kind of hassle involved in getting caught. If you haven't been to WTR, try visiting on their open house in June. Check their web site for the exact dates and directions.

Of all the places in this country not to try this, Virginia is the worse. At least in my opinion. Having grown up in the Maryland/Virginia area, I would be very careful about flaunting the laws here. You don't want to end up with a sex offender tag. I may be too parnoid here but I don't think so but again, if it works out for you than great. I guess you could always ask? All the police can do is say no.

the area is nicely isolated and i know there are a few people, myseld included, who regularly sunbathe nude there. as long as you walk at least a 1/4 mile down the beach and stay back a little discrete sunbathing is not a challenge. |

It may never be an offical nude beach... but it could always be tried out as an unoffical one. Dont know how that might be possible though. |

I lived 10 mns away from Grandview for about 5 years. I simply don't see how it could be turned into a nude beach, considering not only local ordinances about bathing and nudity there, but also the landscaping of the beach itself (it's a narrow, rocky shoreline.) The one advantage about Grandview, though, is that it requires a good bit of walking down a path to get there; so there is a element of seclusion.
If this can be pulled off, great...but I don't see how. |
