Posted - 07/09/2007 : 1:07:38 PM Okay, here goes. I hope this is in the right area.
I need help classifying myself. I've always liked being naked outside as a kid. From occasional quick nude walks in the woods to a quick splash in a deep puddle after a rain storm, skinny dipping or just relaxing naked by myself on my boat. I'd sleep naked once in a while but because nudity somehow is so stricken by society and the general public, at least here in the states, I've always felt like I was doing something wrong. Now that I'm much older (34) and care far less what society thinks, I'm trying to find out what I really might be classified as; nudist, naturist, voyeur, perv, etc., it doesn't really matter, just kinda looking for where I might fall on the scale. I now sleep naked quite frequently as well as free ball as much as possible as it is as free of a feeling I can obtain while being clothed.
Recently I was on vacation and took a long walk on the beach with my camera. The sun was beating down, the wind was just right and there was no one around for as far as I could see. So I strolled up the dune and off came the swimsuit. Wow, what a great feeling it was, totally free feeling the sun and wind on my body. I was able to walk around for a short while and sit for a little bit enjoying the warm sand (and yes I took some pictures). Since then I just want to be naked whenever I can. Sitting outside on my deck watching the stars is also something I like to do naked.
Now for more background/mindset info. I've never been confident physically so that's a big hurtle to get over. I perceive my manhood to be quite small, tho I haven't ever gotten complaints from the very limited number of people who've seen it (LOL more brainwashing huh) and don't consider myself to be very attractive at all. I've always thought it would be intriguing to go to a nude beach but not sure why given my low self confidence. I would think that once you're naked and in a crowd of other naked people, any stigmas or inhibitions are kind of out the window so you don't really need to worry about a lot of meaningless societal constraints. For me, I enjoy looking at a naked woman, not only the 'media perfect photoshoped' woman, but any confident woman no matter what her shape/size (within reason i.e. not obese)and although at first would be quite arousing, I don't really feel like it's purely sexual; more admiration than sexual attraction. I try to encourage my wife to try going naked, but societies force fed image of women has been deeply ingrained in her and she barely takes her clothes off to shower. After reading some on this board I know now to shift gears and try some other types of encouragement.
I'm not sure if these are just feelings that are normal when you're trying to shed your textile brainwashing skin or if I might be out of the nudist/naturist arena and into something more extreme. Any thoughts, suggestions, or questions, please feel free to share or ask.
Thanks. |

You really should go for it. I remember my first time at a resort just a couple of months ago. As soon as I was parked, I stripped off my clothes and any apprehension I might have been feeling disappeared with my clothes. Being nude with others felt like the most natural and normal thing I'd ever done.

Posted - 08/15/2007 : 10:18:43 PM After reading many many posts on these boards I believe I'm comfortable calling myself a nudist/naturist. I also think that if/when I ever do get a chance to go to a nude beach/resort I'll, even though it would be the first time in public, be completely comfortable with stripping right down and enjoying it. The nearest resort is about 2 hours from me and the nearest beach is over 4 hours away, not a thing where you just jump in a car and go. I've boated by myself nude a few times and there isn't really anything like being outside naked. Not really sexual at all, just the true human feeling of being naked outdoors. Much like some of the other peoples enjoyments, the other night a storm came up while I was enjoying a late evening and rather than run inside I just sat there, quite a nice feeling with the warm wind and cool rain hitting your skin, it truly does make one feel alive.

Posted - 08/11/2007 : 08:10:51 AM For me nudist and naturist are almost, synonymous though I tend to lean toward naturist. I'm pretty much a home nudist and try to be nude as much as I can simply because it feels so natural, comfortable, and relaxing. While I enjoy being nude at home, I've found that it's more enjoyable among others who also enjoy nudism/naturism.

Posted - 08/11/2007 : 07:21:30 AM Nudist / naturist is what I think you are Nightforce. Enjoy being naked as often as you can. Don't bother about the size of your penis or how handsome you might think you are as that has little to do with naturism at all. The best nudism is when with others who share the love of air on skin. But, being alone can also be an almost spiritual experience as there is nothing between you and the elements. No need to try to put a name on what you do really. Such titles are only easy ways of explaining a part of your lifestyle to others. Enjoy your summer.

Visit a nudist venue a few times and then if you still want to, consider your classification. Bet that foremost it will be: I enjoy nudism, I enjoy the wind and sun embracing my body, I enjoy skinny dipping and I enjoy social nudity.

Posted - 08/09/2007 : 11:43:19 AM You could definitely consider yourself a nudist or naturist, take your pick. I don't think it has anything to do with where you enjoy nudity. I've loved going naked since I was a kid, and three decades later, I still go nude in my home and yard, although I also frequent our city's nude beach. I've always considered myself a nudist as that's the first term I learned. |

Posted - 07/10/2007 : 11:56:12 AM Since you enjoy being nude whenever you can find the privacy to avoid being seen I must conclude that you are definitely a nudist (or naturist, if you prefer). It is my belief that if you are comfortable being nude in private, you will be just as comfortable being nude in a social setting. In addition you will have others who share your joy of nudism to interact with.
I can't help but wonder why you find it necessary to categorize yourself, but it is an interesting topic for discussion. If one goes to http://www.dictionary.com and enters the word "nudsim" the following definitions will be displayed. 1.)the practice of going nude, esp. in places that allow sexually mixed groups, in the belief that such practice benefits health. 2.)The belief in or practice of going nude, especially in secluded, sexually mixed groups for reasons of health. 3.)going without clothes as a social practice 4.)the practice of not wearing clothes usually because it is thought to be healthy
Although it is difficult to provide a precise definition I think the above miss the mark. Nudism is practiced for many reasons, in many ways by all sorts of people all over the world. Undoubtedly there are some who practice nudism as a result of a belief that there are health benefits from doing so. Most of the nudists I know have other motivations. So a definition that states nudism is done in the pursuit of good health is not accurate in many cases. A definition that claims nudism is a social activity ignores all the many "closet nudists". Those who are reluctant to practice nudism in front of others are just as much nudists as those of us who frequent nude venues.
If one defines nudism simply as the practice of not wearing clothes, then everyone who removes their clothes for a bath or shower would fit the definition. Even if you limit the definition by restricting its application to only those who enjoy being nude it would be too broad. Little children seem to enjoy cavorting without any clothes, but that doesn't make them nudists. And, it seems to me that under some circumstances everyone must enjoy removing their clothes for some reason.
The best definition I can conceive of would be, nudism is the practice of engaging in activities while nude that others engage in while clothed. Ah semantics...
I suppose I've already written more than anyone is interested in reading, so I'll quit now. We are now returning to our regularly scheduled programming.

Posted - 07/10/2007 : 11:27:46 AM Any mention of public nudity, even a suggestion to join me outside late at night when it's very dark, brings the comment "You're gonna get arrested." At most, someone might see a silhouette. If we/I ever get a chance to go to a nude beach/resort, I'm sure I'll try it, but right now, taking a trip to anywhere is likely out of the question.

Posted - 07/10/2007 : 08:35:35 AM Hi Nightforce, it seems that you have a definite interest in being a nudist. I think you should try to visit a nudist resort or club rather than experimenting on your own. You will find that there are all sizes and shapes there. Actually very few people with good bodies. The reality is that no one cares much about the physical shape. What you will find is that nudists will welcome you and help you to ease into the community there.
I realize this may be easier for you than your wife but it is something that you could both enjoy together. I would try to convince her to go on a weekday when there are very few people around. I suspect that she could become comfortable and that you both could add a very enriching component to your lives together.
Good Luck,
Paul

Posted - 07/09/2007 : 9:40:41 PM Nudist and naturist are the same thing. I would say that you are nudist or naturist, because you enjoy it in private. Straight men all enjoy the female figure. God made women beautiful. I agree with your view to look with admiration and non-sexual. But don't stare at her.

Posted - 07/09/2007 : 8:31:34 PM Welcome to the forum!! Click on Active Polls and you can take your pick. I don't know where you live but at Gunnison in NJ you would be one of the younger guys. Part of this for me was losing over 40 lbs last year. While my body aint great, I'm very happy with it. I also shed the fur that many of us have. Be advised if a guy is checking out your "manhood" on a nude beach he is looking for a "date". While I'm not bothered by it, I'm not interested either.
Bob Have a nice NUDE day !! |
