Posted - 04/01/2010 : 02:19:31 AM I thought I had already posted on this topic, maybe there is a similar question elsewhere on the site. I agree there is a bit of both in most if not all of us at a nudist beach, some maybe more so than others. Haven't been to a resort, just beaches both deserted and crowded and regardless most people check each other out but then just enjoy the location.
The odd ones I think are the textiles that walk along from a clothed section of beach to the c/o part for a perv and try to act shocked if you walk past for a swim or go past on a walk. Maybe some are contemplating joining the lifestyle but most are there to perv and they think we are the twisted ones. |

Posted - 02/17/2010 : 8:11:25 PM Not sure what all the fuss is about. When we meet people for the first time we check them out that is look them up and down. If they are wearing clothes we look to see what they are wearing, and if they are nude we take a quck look at their bodies out of curiosity. Not that we are being lewd or anything, it just human nature to be curious about other people. After a quick look most of us carry on normal conversation with no thought about how the other may or may not be dressed. So the answer is that most of us are both a voyeur and an exhibitionist. We like to be nude as much as possible and run about the house nude. If it were possible we would go out nude. We enjoyed our two week vacation at Desires resort where we only had to wear clothes in the dinning room. |

Posted - 01/03/2010 : 12:24:56 PM People THINK way too much about this stuff, IMO. Just get naked, relax, and have fun. Things are not so black and white—we are all on a bell curve; everyone is probably a bit of a voyeur, everyone is probably a bit of an exhibitionist; so what? My wife is a shy nudist, for example.
And please, enough about the erections already. They are VERY rare on nude beaches/resorts...

Posted - 01/02/2010 : 10:38:48 PM voyeur and exhibitionist are strong words i also enjoy people watching could probably make a career of it i also enjoy being nude and if it was made legal tommorrow i would walk out my front door and go to town, well maybe i will wait for spring. i think when you gawk or roam your eyes up and down checking out another person you are probably a voyeur but at a nudist resort or nude beach who doesn't look and yes you have been looked at and nowdays probably photographed, if you walk around with a erection or feeling yourself up and down you are probably a exhibitionist but if you have piercing or are shaved i think you are just part of a tread. just relax and enjoy being nude. |

Posted - 12/09/2009 : 7:33:07 PM Thanks for the comments Maria Rose. We all differ as much as we are the same. I was the kid in the basement of the sicence lab most of my life but became outgoing in my career and finally have accepted social nudism as a great part of life. I want a do over so that I could be like this for more years. Being the same in accepting this lifestyle should make us more open to our differences since we really do need to band together to defend our preferences. Private nudity was my style for many years and finding friends to share this with is important to me now. Hope to see you there if you like. JB |

Posted - 12/09/2009 : 5:43:15 PM Hi John, and welcome. I wrote the following in another place, but it seemed to be a good response to you here. I do not, in any way consider myself an exhibitionist or voyeur, but I still value social nudism in addition to at home, private nudism. Not all of us go along with the social nudist=exhibitionist idea.
"...I completely agree with you about the difference in mindset of social nudism. I am only able to enjoy naturism on parts of my own property, and nudity in my own home when we have no one else here. Because I have to think about hiding my nudity, it remains in the psychological realm of the forbidden. In other words, it feels good, but not "natural" to me. I only have been able to go to one resort, and although I was disappointed in the resort itself, I was suddenly able to see if nudity could feel normal to me. I could, and in that way, the resort visit was of great value to me. More social nudity opportunities would only increase the mindset of "Normal" versus "Unusual but good, and still to be hidden" I know that many here will disagree with me, and all I can say is this is the effect of too much home nudity and not enough social nudity. That is to say, this is the effect on me, I will not presume to say it is universal."
Glad you are here, and look forward to more posts from you.

Posted - 12/09/2009 : 07:37:37 AM I I'm John Bristol, I am new to social nudism having tried a club for the first time a year or so ago. Since then I have been to several and realized that I always liked being nude and started my own little club when I was five years old. A story for another time. I am moving towards wanting to be able to be a full time nudist.
I have been thinking about the concepts of seeing and being seen in social vs alone nudism. Specifically the idea of being labeled as a voyeur or exhibitionist. Recently I saw a post that stated "I am a social nudist threfore I am an exhibitionist and a voyeur". I thought it made some sense in it's candor but disturbing in the antisocial labeling. I don't want to be around antisocial people clothes or unclothed
The terms exhibitionist and voyeur describe the antisocial behavior of exposing oneself as a form of antisocial agression for those who do not want to see and voyeur is the peeping tom that violates ones privacy. Nudism itself is anti social in the textile world and I would propose that being clothed in a nudist environment is anti social as well. So I guess I am a voyeur, a polite, social, friendly social voueur. Not peeking at my textile neighbors but admiring your bodies when we are in a nudist environment. In the process it is neat how less judgemental and prejudicial we become. The infinite variety of the human body makes categories less meaningful.
I guess I am a voyeur as well. As vouyerism for me is an extension of "people watching" and as much as I enjoy watching people come and go in airports and restaurants when I get caught looking I must either smile and nod or offer a pleasant comment start a conversation or look away as it is not polite to stare. Again staring is an anti social version of looking that might provoke fear of a personal attack or unwanted attention. There probably is no difference in the nudist environment. I am perplexed by women who go nude and object to men looking a them. So what about being looked at..........Are you a textile exhibitionist when you look in the mirror before going out and say "I look good". The expectation is that others will look and think or say nice things about your appearance. I have had suit jobs where I got lots of compliments and crud jobs in work clothes where people would not even make eye contact on the street, same guy. I prefer that they perfer me. Point is we all like to look good or at least have others not think we look bad. Feel free to look at me and please be nice. Again one of the amazing things about social nudism. Most people are so nice. Thanks for letting me work this out and let me know your thoughts. JB |

Bob Greene wrote an essay about visiting a condom factory back East. Apparently the testing process involves fitting the newly-manufactured condoms over a life-like form and checking them for defects.
I guess the ladies who carry out this step become quite accomplished at fitting the condoms on the forms. After observing for a while, Greene said he had two thoughts ... one, what a boring job that must be. And two, how could he get a date with one of the ladies?
