Since I got out of the military I have quit trying to hide my nudist life. I have returned to college to get the degree I never got and on a dare from a fellow student and fellow nudist wore the T-shirt from the nude run I went to last summer. He and I were asked a lot of questions however there were no negative comments. I am going to be buying a few more nudist T-shirts from AANR to wear to school during the year in hopes of generating some dialogue and perhaps even some interest. I think we should get over our shame, because that is what it is shame. Shame of something we all enjoy however we somehow feel that no one will accept us if we allow them to know of our nudist life. I have found that it just isn't so, in most cases you will find a huge amount of acceptance and understanding. I think once one has reached a certain age you say I just don't give a flip what you think this is my life and this is who I am if you don't like it too bad. I am not saying that is how we need to come across far from it but that is my mental state. Take me as I am or go find another person to be friends with. I am not yet an activist far from it I am just not going to try to hide my nudism anymore.

I might fear someone being angry with me because I'm nude at a traditional skinny dipping hole at a river. I'd rather not go through that kind of experience, especially if there is a crowd who is angry.

Anent the religion-anti-nudity connection, the pure teachings of, at least my religion, do not put nudity in a bad light at all. I believe that anti-nudity sentiments come from secular reasoning, and not theological. Fashions are not invented by churches, but by fashion designers. The clergy who advocate the prohibition of nudity have no theological basis for their advocacy. It more accurately represents their ideas about what would happen to him/herself if he/she saw nude people. Their fear is projected to their congregation.

The most viciously anti-nude period was during the latter 1800s. It was purely secular in nature. It spread to the church as well.

The trouble is not that textiles are stupid, but that they know so much that isn't true. LOL

What worries me most about being a nudist is the ignorance of other people. The world would be much better if everyone got informed before passing judgement. There is so much stigmatism from textiles that don't know what they're talking about.

You don't say what country you are from soare we talking Bush or Blair or----. The continentals in Europe have such a more liberal attitude where there is less fear of being the wrong side of the law

My biggest fear is that our current government will decide this most enjoyable activity is a crime, even when practiced in your home, let alone in a setting such as a club or beach.

What worries me the most about it, is being arrested and labeled a sex offender, when that isn't even the case.

I also worry that it will be increasingly more difficult to find places to be nude, but I hope that works in the opposite of my fear. :)

I see how some might argue that, but here's my take on it: When God querried Adam and asked "Who told you you were naked?", it sounded to me like God was irritated by that. I think he was angered at Satan for telling Adam that it was bad, and perhaps angered at Adam for listening to him. Their (our) childlike innocence was lost. As someone who believes in the creation, it seems to me that we were made that way, and prior to the incident, it wasn't an issue because that is the way we were supposed to live.

P.S. Kev, sorry if I'm drifting off topic.

I have been a nudist for a very long time, and not much worries me.

People consider me a little eccentric already, so if new folks find out, I am not concerned.

Me too. Well, not too worried. But sometimes when these things come to light, they can come back to bite you on the arse. And with the arse exposed, the teeth might hurt more.

I'm also thought of as the odd one of the bunch, but I'm better adjusted than all the up-tight closed minded people in my family-if I may say so myself.

Good to see somebody else sees through their Bible. God never told Adam he was right to hide his hide.

If I were in Marion County, Indiana I'd be in constant worry that some dope would see me through a window and get me sighted with a warning. The exposure law in that county was given a clause a decade ago on being seen in your own house. I'm one county South.

OK! I'll weigh in on this!

Coming from a ultra-conservative christian religion where almost everything is a sin, it wasn't God who said anything about Adam's nakedness after the apple was munched. Adam told God that he was naked and took it upon himself to make a crude attempt at clothing. God didn't have any problems with Adam and Eve being naked. Since it was such an issue for Adam to be naked, God accommodated him and made him some real clothes out of animal hide. So when anyone gripes that Eve (the woman) put us in this situation, it is Adam who was the idiot that started the clothes wearing crap!!

I am Baptist so I can tell this joke. We aren't suppose to drink, dance or anything like that so here goes!

You know why Baptists don't have sex standing up?

Answer: They don't want people to thing they are dancing!

I don't believe there is any support at all in the Bible for an anti-nude attitude. Folks who are anti-nude for what they think are religious reasons are actually being guided by their own fears, prejudices, and false assumptions. Condemnation of people for choosing to be uncovered is not justifiable from a truely religious perspective, and doing so makes the "religious" look unloving and untrue to their own professed core beliefs. The problem is not religion. As usual, the problem is the human tendency to use religion to rationalize intolerance.

Since joining this website I have enjoyed taking part in certain subjects of discussion which I as anEnglishman find fascinating but one thing strikes me more than anything else, ( and this applies to me as much as the next person) how secretive we all seem to be about our identity. Some of the user names are quite extraordinary. My user name is a nick name that I am known as within my working life but I have not as yet thought about posting a photo. The chances however of anyone actually recognising any of us is pretty remote and so what if they do.. Would it really make such a difference to our lives if a family member or even a business colleague saw you as a member of this excellent forum. My thought is that if they are searching the site, they too may well be yearning for information that will convince them to join our lifestyle.

A few years ago I accidently dropped my nudist club membership card out of my wallet in the office and a colleague picked it up with a smile on his face. For a few weeks there was a little ribbing and searching questions as word got round which I laughed off. So, they know I am a nudist. So what? Should we all not be more open about the way we prefer to live. I would love to hear other members' thoughts on the subject. I and Mrs Tuffers( here I go again, Sue )must get snapping with the digital camera and start posting some pics.

People do it for all sorts of things, and the problem is... we really don't have much of a clue who actually wrote the Bible. I'm going to quote that last remark you made in my profile! Simply brilliant!

Thank you very much for the compliment.
