I gotta agree with bk-yd-nude on paradise found. We live on the east coast of Florida and have an extremely private pool home across the road from the beach. About 10 minutes south we can enjoy a C/O beach without any hassles from the law. I'm semi-retired so time is not an issue anymore, I know it's Sunday because the thick newspaper comes on that day. But the best thing is that I have a terrific wife that still lets me be a kid. Life is good.

I have found my bit of paradise, it is called Georgia. I love my state, I love my work, I love my wife and there are great places to be naked very near. What a life I am living :) ok, corny enought ... but true. Rev, I can only hope you can experience something near what I believe I have, wherever you end up.

Moving is always an adventure. You might post a note under "is there a nudist club/beach/resort"
since the Administrator and Moderators get upset when we try to change topics.

The volcanoes may be extinct, but the one on Lanzarote steams and belch's sulphorous smoke, and thousands of tourists ride the cable car to the summit. All the islands are of volcanic origin, which is quite evident when you see the rock formations.

The monsoon type rainstorm caused chaos over Christmas 2005 when I was there, then next day I was walking naked along the coast.

Most of the Canaries are naturist friendly, Fuerteventura is supposed to be the most liberal, but I went to Charco de Paulo on Lanzarote, and this is a naturist village where you can be naked everywhere,...... except the mall.

I wonder if Bare Necessities would consider a package holiday to one or more of the European naturist resorts, it would be great to meet some of you in person.

Pete Knight--The web-site I read said that the volcanoes had been dorment for 4-to 5000 years.I did read about the sandstorms but there was no mention of monsoons.Seems to me that the website just wanted to get you there;no matter what.Would that I could travel I would go there anyway. Is the island nudist friendly? It's the second largest island I'm talking about-Fuerteventura.

The Canaries are prone to some quite strange weather, monsoon type rain storms, and sand storms from the Sahara are common. Its not unusual to see cars covered with dust at certain time of the year, which I've seen on Tenerife, and I've experienced the rain storms on Lanzarote.

Errrm, as much as I hate to burst your bubble, the Canaries are volcanic islands, with Mount Teide http://www.canaries-live.com/UK/teide.html being a tourist attraction, the recent lava flows are quite spectacular, and have been the location for many moonscape scenes in popular movies. The bus tour is spectacular, and there is a cable car ride to the summit of the volcano.
Many parts of the islands are barren due to their main composition being volcanic rock, but they are well worth visiting non the less.

Most of the islands down the east coast of Africa are of volcanic composition, many with active volcanoes, and they are indeed in the Atlantic.

If you do get the chance to visit the Canaries, take it, if only for the experience!!
Postscript
After giving this some thought, I remembered some friends of mine in Ohio once told me they were quite envious of us in Europe, and saw the Mediterranean islands as being distant and exotic. I realise that its not easy for those of you in the North America to fly directly to some of theses places, that makes it expensive for you. If I could I'd have you all come visit any time, I'd love for you to experience Europe, but you'd need a lifetime to see it all.

Digital Coeboy;FYI there are two plates that meet in mid Atlantic they are the South American plate and the African plate. They meet up with other plates but run from the Antarica Plate --mid Atlantic right up to theArctic. These plates are DIVERGENCE PLATES.that means they are pulling away from each other. They do so very slowley.-therefore no underwater earthquakes.Where the problem spots are is where you have two plates (Convergence) pushing against each other, causing earthquakes, volacnoes and building of new mountain ranges (India and the Himalayas) So don't you worry your head about the two plates that meet mid atlantic opposite Africa and south america, they have been quiet for millions of years.(I did some reaserch)

Even though I love to visit tropical locations and want to visit more I could not permanantly move to the tropics. I enjoy the changing seasons to much along with the hunting and fishing opportunities that come with it. So everyone move to the tropics so I can visit.

I've been to hell but didn't stay long enough to talk to the devil.

Hate to rain on your parade Reverend, but the volcanos are not the only wave maker. Take a look at the Azores; they have a large chunk of rock thats poised to slide in the drink. All depends on which way it crumbles.Reverend adds--
Yes I saw that program on National Geeographic also.If I remember correctly the slide would go to the west.Look out east coast USA.

Tim,

Let's not forget about underwater earthquakes.

Reverend,

There is one reason, and ONE reason only that I moved back to NY. That is because my elderly Grandmother needed my help. And now I am just waiting for my little brother to get a loan to buy my half of the house so that I can move back home to Fl.

Actually IF I remember correctly YOUR initial post was tell us all where one’s “ideal” place to move to and you would possibly tell ‘em why it wouldn’t be a good idea to move there.

The truth of the matter is that sadly there is no such thing as any place on this (or any planet) that 100% safe. Yes, there are various locations that ideal because of their weather or location. But as I’ve said each and every location does have it’s own inherent problems. Be it weather, location, government, war, or what have you.

Even here in the US we have our problems and as 9/11 showed we’re not immune to the possibility of being attacked by some one/country that sees us as being their “enemy.”

If we are talking about "dream locations" to live. We would LOVE to retire to Jamaica. NOT the poor impoverished areas,as there are many, but a nice mansion up on the hiil above Ocho Rios. My husband and I have beeen to many of the resorts there. Couples, has an very nice "nude island" where we spent every day of the 2 weeks we were there.
