Posted - 11/27/2006 : 10:01:01 PM I started raising my kids as nudists when they ranged in age from 11 to 13. Mine took about three weeks before they were comfortable, but once they were they were happier and didn't fight as much anymore.
I would like to hear when they started raising their kids as nudists and how that went.
I would also like to hear from kids raised as nudists from the start and from kids introdused to it later and how it changed you.
I would also like to know if any kids ever came out as nudists to thier friends and how they handled that. |

We've been extremely lucky that 1) our daughters didn't forget how they were raised and decided on their own to revisit the lifestyle. 2) That they married understanding men. One of them married a man that has no problem with nudity ... even around us and is willing to partake in social nudity 3) That they felt that exposing the kids to simple nudity was a good thing and wasn't harmful in anyway.
Even if we wanted to ... it's not our place to raise our grandkids the way we'd prefer ... as nudists, but the fact that our daughter's are at least exposing them to what it is Papa and Grandma do and live ... is well enough. Our oldest grandson is a born, true and true clone of Papa. He loves being naked and I can see he and I taking some naked camping trips together, getting in so hot springs time and really connecting. I can't wait for the youngest grandson to get old enough to join us.
I'm hoping once my wife, The Prof, retires, there will be much more time for her to spend with the little girls and explain more about nudism to them. I do talk with our oldest grandaughter about it and she's receptive but ... she's 11 and has outside influences that are very powerful!
The younger grandaughters just get the usual conversations like; "it's okay to be naked with cousins and Papa and Grandma or Mommy and Daddy." "This is a place (beach) where you can come and not have to wear a bathing suit." They LOVE the "naked beach."
We'd take them "camping" at our club but there really isn't much for them to do at the club. I'd rather take them to DeAnza Springs were there is much more hiking and open space. I think they'd like that.
It'll be a challenge with the girls but ... I think between their grandmother and their mothers ... they will have some open conversation and questions answered openly and honestly. It's just that girls, mostly, have such a tough time with peer pressure and some little girls can be mean and rude. So we deal with some of those issues with our grandaughters and those issues don't have anything to do with nudism.

Posted - 06/12/2012 : 06:51:57 AM Always make naked time fun time, even after your kids grow up. I've just spent the afternoon with my Claire and her partner Jane and there have been some horrendous storms around Perth but after a few glasses of wine we went outside and danced naked in the torrential rain. We were screaming with laughter - god knows what the neighbours thought. I've just left them as a naked pink bundle, entwined in each others arms wrapped up in a duvet together. It reminded me of summer evenings when Claire & Jack were young and I would meet them out of school, bundle them into the back of the car where they would get undressed under an old blanket. They would hide under the blanket, play fighting and the like, until we got to the beach and then, when I gave the word that the coast was clear, they used to bundle out of the car and scuttle off naked down the beach. I would follow at a more sedate pace and slip out of my sun dress when I got out of the car park. |

This is always my favorite time because 4 or the 5 LOVE being naked. The oldest, 12 yo female, is becoming a bit more modest but from the 9 yo down to the 2 yo ... they love it and it usually takes about 10-15 mins to get them into the bathtub or shower stall!
There is more young naked butt, laughter and energy in those 15 mins than you can believe. The Prof and I just stand their and laugh and watch them enjoy their naked time. 90% of the time Papa and Grandma join them. 10% of the time ... she's running water, changing a diaper and picking up after them and I'm unloading the car of all their stuff! We hate that 10% of the time.
The camera usually comes out at that time and I have pictures of ALL of them naked on my dresser ... along with a picture of the Prof. My favorite pic is of ALL of them, including the Prof, naked in the pool together.

Good times! There is something I've oft wondered about. I remember once reading that Heidi Klum and Seal (when they were still together) had a family nude portrait in the living room. And I quote:
Heidi Klum and Seal have naked family pictures displayed in their Los Angeles home. The images - taken before the supermodel fell pregnant with the couple's two-month-old son Jonathan - feature Seal, Heidi's daughter Leni, two, and her and Seal's 16-month-old son Henry. A friend of the couple said: "There are big, naked portraits of them with the kids. They are tasteful, but, you know, confronting."
I myself could never get my X to agree to put up any nudist pictures at home. But then, we had so many visitors that we would have had to take the picture(s) down routinely. Obviously, Seal and Heidi did not share that concern as theirs were displayed through the house. I was just wondering, as a side note, whether family nudes displayed at home are ever a cause for concern. Quite honestly I figured it would just raise too many eyebrows.

We all watched that segment on 20/20.The only thing that I think that 20/20 tried to give this perspective that raising a family in a nude environment would be extreme parenting in which I would have to disagree.
As I recall, you were home schooling your daughters before becoming nudists. How are you doing?

Well as of now were are doing fine.We have moved back to our house. We still go to the local nudist resort, during spring, summer and sometimes during the winter months. As of today we have already sold our house in which was in our local nude resort. We have thought of having a house built at a nudist resort in Florida, since the weather is nice almost all year long.
This past year we have made 3 trips to Lake Como Naturist Resort in Florida so far.My wife and I have made a decision for us to travel to any Florida naturist resort since certain resorts within that state is nudist friendly when it comes to young people, families, and kids as well.We feel that it would be beneficial for our kids to get a chance to interact with other kids of their own age, especially my oldest daughter who's 12 as of now.We have been fortunate to find 2 families just like us in the naturist resort in which we used to attend, out of hundred of older people.

I enjoy just being naked on a nudist beach in a different way to perhaps walking naked down the beach well away from the other nudists and passing a textile couple walking their dog. Where I usually go, they will be more than aware that they can expect to see naked bodies, but I get a thrill encountering them so remote from others in such a vulnerable state. I like to make a point of greeting them as the natural textile reaction is to pretend to notice that you're not there. A cheery "lovely day!" gives them no room for manoeuvre and they have to acknowledge you.
I am glad that doesn't make me a exhibitionist. I just like to glory in the feeling of being totally unfettered
You're welcome Rachel. But remember, as I said, this is how I feel. There will more than likely still be some on here that will say that's an exhibitionist. I disagree, but that's why we all have our own opinions. |

Posted - 06/07/2012 : 7:50:13 PM Hi all...haven't been on in a while. But as many of you know I'm a mom of three adult daughters, 2 of which have given me grand kids already. Sorry if this is not directly related to the last few posts directly, but i will give my short "to the point" opinion on the thread topic itself. I believe EVERYONE should at minimum raise their children to think nudity is no big deal, period. Of course it would be great if everyone were nudists, but that's unrealistic. And on a side note i am not at all a fan of homeschooling. Kids need interaction and social skills that they just cannot get unless they are with other kids. Please though, Lets not debate the merits of homeschooling here.
Long time no talk..

Posted - 06/06/2012 : 10:15:16 PM With reference to th 20/20 program I agree with Nudony that the kids were cut off from the rest of the world, I'm a big supporter of home schooling but in this case I would support public school for this kids so they could interact with their peers sure they have that at the nudist camp but to me not enough. When I was living in Florida as a kid my parents actually moved us into a serior community with few kids my age, I actually couldn't wait to get to school and interact with someone my age. |

Then again, I don't like the labels period. I don't consider myself a "nudist" nor do I consider myself an "exhibitionist". I consider myself as someone who loves to be naked as much as possible. I'm with rooftop. I'm not a "nudist" nor an "exhibitionist" but I enjoy being naked and I enjoy being seen naked.
The more often "normal" people see naked human bodies engaged in "normal" activity, the more "normal" it becomes to be naked.

Posted - 06/05/2012 : 10:35:29 PM For lack of a different word ... I would agree that there is a certain "thrill" to getting naked. I'm not much into being "seen" naked but if that should occur, I don't think it's a bad thing.
Example; We have three neighbors that have a line of sight into our backyard and side yards. I am naked about 99.9% of the time while I'm out in these yards and I've been seen by all of these neighbors. I don't go out there purposely to been seen naked by them but ... if they do see me, I don't make a fuss about it, nor do I lay or position myself to expose myself to them. I just go about my normal routine as I would if I were clothed and I think that's why they don't make a fuss about it as well.
I do get a different feeling about my nudity when I'm outdoors. It's a freeing feeling and I really think that's what children feel when they are naked. It's really too bad that they are conditioned to suppress that urge and it's too bad that adults do that to them.

I was interested to read the post on the difference between nudism and exhibitionism. I will probably upset a few people by stating that they are not dissimilar states of mind. Generally, I am happy to be in a state of undress regardless of whether I am on a nudist beach, in my own back yard or just in the bathroom cleaning my teeth. However, when I was pregnant with my first, I was emboldened enough to uncover myself after a number of years of covering up. I cannot deny that there was a certain thrill in this, which I felt again when I was pregnant with Jack. This is probably a hormonal thing, but it is something I felt and reacted to and there was definitely a "buzz" there. Does this make me an exhibitionist?
My son, Jack, once told me that he was swimming at a local pool which was so busy that he was forced to change in the communal area rather than the changing rooms. He said that because he was forced to get naked in a setting where he would normally expect everyone to be clothed, he found it a little bit more exciting than he felt comfortable with. As far as I am concerned, this is not a sexual thing, but a manifestation of the excitement of "breaking the rules"
