Why are nudist men or boys not allowed to have erections, while women and girls are allowed to become as aroused as they want?

I've been pondering that question since my earlier years, but was too afraid to ask. 50 years ago the bikini was linked with pornography while now-a-days it's just another swimsuit. Maybe 50 years into the future, people won't be so uptight. It seems stupid to me to constrain men so much when we women are guilty of being aroused just as much as men, only we have fewer limits.

There's a lot of controversy surrounding this topic obviously, so I think the best course of action would be to go with the policies of the resort/facility being enjoyed. Any guy knows that erections CAN and absolutely do occur without any kind of sexual stimulation. All we have to do is wake up in the morning. But, as our female members have stated, it may offend them, thus we men have a responsibility to do what we can to avoid accidental offense, even if the issue at hand may be out of our control.

Has anyone thought about us, men, of being embarrassed because of an erection ?

Let me tell you this: once I was being nude at some rocks. One woman come with two younger syblings. We talked in the nude of course and after a while I suddenly got an erection. She saw that and I have excused for having to go to water. But she responede with "Oh, no, that's OK".

Well it is NOT OK because... because it is not okay for me as a man. I don't want to get an erection in front of strange woman. Especialy because also youngers saw me.

I was much ashamed.

Boomdriver and Rodders I am in complete agreement with you. Like the majority of the forum members, I'm a long-time nudist and never seen so much time devoted to a topic that, in my experience and apparently that of most other nudists on this site, has been pretty much deemed a non-issue. True nudists understand how to conduct themselves among other nudists. Nuff said!

did you know that;an erection constitutes indecent-exposure? if you're naked with one;it doesn't excuse the offence.

Rodders Posted - 09/01/2008 : 09:03:12 AM
Well said boomdriver. Erections have been remarkably absent from the places I've been over the last thirty odd years. In Europe, the Caribbean, resorts, beaches hotels & clubs it has only ever happened twice in my sight on Orient Beach and was pretty well ignored. The person sporting the extra blood flow on the last occasion certainly seemed very proud of himself but failed to impress the ladies (or the men) I was with at the time. Oh yes jcmt4 I had a shed delivered a while back but nothing happened then either.

I never thought I would post on one of these "erection" topics, but I wonder how many of the pro crowd have actually been in a socially nude setting? Many of the topics and posts seem to be from men who have somehow convinced themselves that an erection is inevitable when they are nude in mixed company, and are trying to justify it in advance of the actual event. If they would just TRY it, they might find it's a non-issue and realize their fears were unfounded.
What do you think?

I'm sure I think I said what I probably meant, but maybe not.

this topic keeps popping-up from time to time.in most cases;the term 'hard-on' is used.an 'erection' is usually something associated with delivery of your new shed;where you're guaranteed a 'free-erection'.

You said it Dustin, its embarrassing and we all have been in much the same situation with social nude recreation, naturel human reactions can and do happen, being normal indeed and some who react without regard to other people's feelings, many males have said they could not visit open house at a resort due to this fear of embarrassment and reactions like that, only drive home the wrong message, you can't enjoy this lifestyle its "not Normal" lol! It happens, maybe one day they'll realize its not a federal offence i hope being male we're all guilty of being normal sooner or later.

I was visiting one club where a very young boy had an erection. An older woman shouted at him in a loud voice "You're not supposed to have that here!" The boy was embarrassed without knowing what he had done to offend. This situation requires sensitivity by everyone involved.

Just my incoherent thoughts on erections. I am quite passive as a guy, and would rather leave somebody alone than to offend them. If I were ever to get an erection in the nudist public, I would darn sure hide it, as casually as I could in the moment. Then I would think about my experience in military basic training. That will kill the most motivated erection!! I don't think I feel agression when I do have an erection, but I do feel a sense of being cozy, or stimulated. I never act on it, and I feel sorry if I have offended. I'm a bit of a Mr. Rogers type, so you know how that is. We men can get an erection while we sleep, too.

For the most part, I seem to get erections when I feel very loved, but I am not the aggressive type. Of course erections are preparation for intercourse, but any aggressivenss depends on the man, and if he is a caring, truly loving person. I cannot see myself being aggressive unless it's to save my life or of those who around me. Now, if I were a serial rapist, I could see that I was an aggressive, predatory individual.

I'm wondering if the psychologists take into consideration the whole person, as opposed to the islolated erection. For me, an erection is a response to affection, as surely as a dog's tail is a response to affection.

Cheri is right that this has been studied by the experts, and you do have to respect their life long studies. All I can say is that I know myself, in that I am critical of myself, and I just find an erection is, for me, a way to show affection, and even playfulness. I do think there would be a tremendous difference between the late Mr. Rogers and a jailed serial rapist, who is highly predatory. I'll have to think about this one, and I am happy to do that.

If you cannot tell what the difference is between a man and a woman by now, then you need to go back to school.
