Posted - 11/26/2008 : 11:18:39 AM Tomorrow is Thanksgiving in the US. It's a wonderful time to reflect on the blessings we have and the things we have to be thankful for.
Can you share the things that you are especially thankful for?
I'm thankful for my health and the good fortune that allows me to be comfortable, and not have to scramble every day of my life for a roof over my head or food on my table.
I'm thankful for my children ... sweeter, kinder, more loving young ladies you could not hope to find. I'm so proud of them and all they have accomplished, and will accomplish with their lives. They are also my best friends.
I'm thankful that I live in such a beautiful and bountiful land.
I'm thankful for the rest of my family and friends. They are good and kind and decent, full of love and the grace of God. They enrich my life beyond measure.

Posted - 11/30/2008 : 9:04:09 PM I'm not religious in any formal sense ... but I am surely not ungrateful, and Thanksgiving is a holiday I observe 'religiously', as contradictory as that may sound. This year my wife and I enjoyed a nude Thanksgiving turkey dinner in excellent company at Living Waters Spa. That alone was reason enough to celebrate, but, obviously, there is so much more for which to give thanks, far more than I could possibly fit in here.
Like the bumper sticker says, God bless us every one ... no exceptions!

Posted - 11/27/2008 : 10:48:46 AM Looking at today's terrorist attack headlines, I am thankful for our Militry and other defenders of our security.
To focus on what we are up against: Think of the 15 Afghan girls who had battery acid splashed on their faces and eyes because they were learning to read and write.
Blessings upon our Troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the entire World. |

Posted - 11/27/2008 : 01:22:53 AM I'm thankful for having the greatest little girl in the entire world as a daughter. I'm thankful for my Mom who I will be having Thanksgiving day dinner (2 days late) with for the first time in 7 years, and I'm thankful that my daughter will have her first thanksgiving dinner at Grandma's house. I'm thankful that I have a good paying job, with a roof over my head, and another roof over my house in Florida.

Posted - 11/26/2008 : 8:30:11 PM I like the first Thanksgiving back in the early 1600s, with the Pilgrims sitting at their dinner table with the American Indians of their area, and giving thanks to God for all the good things they had experienced, despite the severe hardships they had to endure. If you can be thankful in times of scarcity and suffering, you have reached the hallmark of giving thanks. We have all observed others who would not have given any thanks in their times of prosperity.
With that in mind, we have more than enough for which to be thankful.
As for myself, I am thankful for friends, a home, health, love, charity, kindnesses, all the little things that each day brings and makes for a positive day, lessons I have learned from failures, maturity received from challenging times, character from suffering, inspiration from out of the depths, and education from daily sacrifices.
Even when things do not look all that good, there is always more than enough for which to be thankful. When you are in prosperous times, thanksgiving can be a full time job.
No matter who you are, and what you're doing, give thanks.
Thank you for this wonderful topic!!!
