Posted - 03/09/2004 : 11:58:00 AM Does anyone think a nude college would work? I personally would have to say no, because you would have to have the right people, both in terms of faculty and students, and I think the odds of someone not taking advantage of everyone being nude are slim. I think this is something nice in theory, but probably isn't doable.

Posted - 12/01/2008 : 2:57:11 PM I don't know of any nude colleges now but I seem to remember reading about some socially liberal colleges that existed in Britain circa World War 2. For some reason, the name Dartington rings a bell - it was one of several that have all closed. My details are very sketchy though and maybe somebody with a better grasp of this area of social history could enlighten us. I'm not sure if these schools were co-eds. |

Posted - 03/09/2008 : 5:57:53 PM One of the nice things about college is the breaks. this week has been midsession break so no school wensday-sunday. as a result, I have been nude more then I have been clothed. I don't think I could have lasted this long had I not done that.

Posted - 03/09/2008 : 1:09:29 PM thanks jeanluc. I just talked to one of them and she said that seeing me nude would make her uncomfortable because whenever she sees a friend nude, her only thoughts would be about having sex with me. I asked her if there was ever a time where she was with a friend who was nude and it was in a non-sexual context. Her response was she did life drawing and that was it. Of course that was her being nude.

Posted - 03/09/2008 : 09:30:44 AM Believe it or not there are actually at least two attitudes people have when they think of nudity. Those are - of course - sexual nudity and non-sexual nudity. If your friends have never experienced nudity unless it was in the conotation of preparing for or having sex, then there is no way they can understand that nudity can be anything other than that. Could they be comfortable being in the room with you nude and not expecting sex? Since they have seen you throught the opening of the door and they know of your proclivity to be nude, just ask them if you mind staying nude the next time they visit. If they can experience nudity without sex being the only thing expected, pretty soon their attitude will change to where they understand that nudity is ok without a sexual meaning. Just my 2 cents worth.

Posted - 03/08/2008 : 11:08:34 PM Two of my friends just stopped by and I was nude and when I opened the door just to stick my head out, one of them was standing right next to the wall and saw me. they both know that I like to be nude and they have seen me nude twice before. Heres what I don't understand...both of them are ok being nude by themselves, or when they are having sex or with their boyfriends, but they are so uncomfortable about social nudity they don't ever want to talk about it...like I mention it and they tell me to just shut up. How is it that someone so fine with sexual nudity can be so against social, nonsexual, nudity?

Posted - 03/07/2008 : 08:44:07 AM A nude university sounds great, but...what about the chemistry classes? Most universities require protective eyewear, footwear, and sometimes gloves and aprons. Maybe these could be worn by an otherwise-nude person.
At least your clothing wouldn't catch on fire, and if something got spilled on you, you would already be nude for the (emergency) shower.
Anatomy classes might be easier, though... |

Posted - 02/22/2008 : 10:16:54 PM I know I have been posting alot, so one more then I will be quiet for a while. As I said in my first post my roommate's girlfriend is ok being in the nude, and I have two other friends up here (girls (pretty much all of my friends are becasue when I grew up I was bullied and abused by guys so I tend to shy away from them)) who are also conferrable in the nude, but only when by themselves. Part of how i grew up with what I said in the () I also am not the party type person, I prefer small groups of good friends and sitting and talking and playing games. knowing they are ok in the nude, I would like to have them come over and play card-games or talking, but they arn't conferrable with being nude with a good friend (I personally think you would be more conferrable with someone you know well then strangers). Anyone have any experience with this or have any suggestions?

Here, there is alot of being just in a bra or underwear, but no nudity unless you are drunk. as far as I know, I am the only one who has walked around without anything on. Did I mention I defiantly can't walk around during the day...the window outside my door is direct line of sight to the campus caf. Honistly (and not to offend anyone), I would expect more nudity here as there are many very librial people and many hippys Oh to be free again, but I have class and lunch soon

Posted - 02/22/2008 : 10:33:38 AM I will see how stuff continues to go. I know my roommate has no problems with nudity, he is a photographer and takes alot of nude shots. I do remember reading a post somewhere here about how being nude or without a bra makes the muscles or tendons in the breasts stronger...that would be a good excuse (working my muscles)...but being a guy...I lack breasts.

Posted - 02/22/2008 : 12:35:06 AM Traisjames, it sounds like you need to talk to your roommate so that he also has quick, easy ways to explain to others. You might explain it is just "air-bathing", you know, just airing the bod, letting the skin breathe. Or that there are many ways to dress casually, all the way to wearing nothing, whatever is comfortable. It is a chance to explain naturist attitudes about being healthy, relaxed and natural, where clothing has a place but isn't a mania. There are also lots of humorous ways to respond to visitors -- "I am studying for my skinny-dipping exam" or maybe "I just joined the Al Gore back-to-nature club" or "I am preparing for summer semester on the French Riviera." Your roommate could use similar lines to diffuse surprise. Anyway, in general, it is just important really to feel free to be yourself in your home space. And the key thing is always to be relaxed and nonchalant, so that your roommate consistently gets the right vibes. At least this approach worked for me in college. I wasn't nude all the time, but I was when I felt like it, and everybody just got used to it. |

Posted - 02/21/2008 : 10:17:20 PM I am a 19 year old college student who joined the forms today. I have been spent the last half year enjoying the freedoms of being free, but not as much as I wish. My family seems to not be too supportive of the nudity idea (only my mom knows right now and here at college, I am able to be nude more often. however, being a college student, I have a roommmate so I can't be nude as much as I would like, and I don't have any friends I can hang out with in my natural form (if you call all the hair i have natural) so I have to stick to in my room. I am at a libiral college but I don't dare go out of my room as I worry about getting in trouble.
This evening, my roommate walked in on me while nude for the first time. about an hour ago, he walked back in with some guy I barely know. while he didn't make any mention then, I could hear him ask my roommate about me, to which my roommate responded "hes like that alot". Unforchently, I am not nude as often as I would like (personally, I would have no problem going to class in the nude assuming it was warmer) so that was untrue. My roommate thinks I am nude more often as a while back, when I first felt conferrable with telling my friends, I told his girlfriend (who was my first friend up here and one of my best friends). I told her because I knew she had wanted to do life drawing before they had to cancel that night for some reason, so I knew she was ok with being in the nude and told her if she ever wanted to join me and hang out in the nude, I would be fine with it. Her boyfriend (my roommate) found out accidently and got angry because she didn't tell him everything and thought I was interested in the sex. She had to go into more detail but now he seems to be ok with it...well he is in here right now and he hasn't said anything about it, though we do have a blanket separating our rooms.
But soon I am to go see my friends, so I guess I have to put cloths back on..

Posted - 04/03/2004 : 03:55:19 AM Its six one way and half a dozen the other bornnude. If you make the college c/o, then that might be inviting gawkers. It would have to be a private college and not accept any government funds to be a truly nude college. If a religeous affiliated institution can make chapel mandatory, then probably a college designed to promote naturism could make nudism mandatory.

Posted - 04/02/2004 : 07:36:33 AM So maybe not a "Nude" college but a Clothing Optional one.
I remember years ago, the "Naked Guy" was wandering around Berkley. The city council shut that down but until then, there was nothing that could be done about him. Got to give him a lot of credit in many ways. |
