I just saw in today's Richmond Times-Dispatch (Easter Sunday edition) thar there's a 44 year old married nudist guy in St. Petersburg, Florida who is making a pretty decent living charging $130 per hour to do handyman work in the nude.
There was an entire article about him and he professes to be spreading the word that nudism isn't about sexuality etc etc. It shows a photo of him sitting on the floor in front of a kitchen sink..on a towel..wearing nothing but his tool belt while a housewife sits in a kitchen chair watching him work..or ..watching something.
Just thought you'd like to know in case it didn't make other newspapers around the country.

Right on target. Pop culture has messed up a ton of good things. People have been taught to think that only PERFECT people can even consider being nude, and that is only for sexual reasons.

Rebel,

I completely understand. People these days, with MTV and all these pop-culture shows, probably can't look at anything without thinking about sex. I've met plenty of people who are so anxious to "get laid". I think legitimate, true nudism could lead people away from these behaviors if executed properly.

I guess I understand what you're trying to do, but I am still trying to be more protective of the issue of and the issues nudism. So many people on here especially these days are only interested in seeing naked people for their thrills, or the potential of sexual favors. But the most part when we get together as a group or are as individuals meeting one-on-one we know that it is a pretty safe assessment that this is not for a thrill and is more about the lifestyle. But when you advertise in people see the word naked or nude it becomes a sexual thing. And even if they need to sign a disclaimer stating that this is a nonsexual issue, many of these idiots will try anyway because they know that for you to protect yourself legally from charges of soliciting sex you were going to ask them to sign an agreement, and then <wink, wink, wink>.

Rebel,

I believe you have me all wrong. My intentions are for nudism. I wish to promote nudism by bringing nudism into other's homes. The business would be non sexual. Also the business would not be for my thrill (other than the thrill anyone would get from being nude at any time). I would do much of what nakedan does to try to promote nudism and helping people understand. Believe me, it wouldn't be what a streaker seeks, but what a true advocate seeks. If you've ever sweated or painted or other housework, you know, clothes are such a hassle.

That is not nudism. That is all about thrills and/or cashing in on thrills of others.

If you want to do it, fine. But please dont tie it to nudism.

I was thinking of doing a job very similar to nakedan, but as a part-time side job for college. How much would be a good rate? I want to do this because I love to do things nude and I figure people would pay to have a toned man work in their house. Non-sexual of course. Also, if you were in need of a handyman, would you consider a nude worker over a clothed? How do you think others would feel?

Wow. I wonder why I never thought of working nude. The patients are nude, so why shouldn't I be? Sure the hospital regs say I have to wear a hat and a mask and gloves, but I checked, and there's nary a word about pants! On the downside, the O.R. is kept at about 65 degrees, so there will be the inevitable goosebumps and, um, shrinkage issues to deal with. I guess maybe I haven't thought this through ... Never mind.

Thanks for the chuckle Doc!!!

I asked Sweetpea, she said not only no, but oh, hell no. Guess I'll be keeping my pants on at work :)

Fire,

More people are doing the same thing. It must be a trend.

I've been nude when my handyman was here doing work, but I never thought of things being the other way around. Look what I've been missing...

Annie :)

I'm hoping to do the same thing when I retire but have one place in particular I'd like to work. I think I can get away with doing some things in the nude. Other things will require at least a pair of shorts while working above the wall/fence line.

If I can't own it I might as well work there!!

Actually I/ve started the same service in the Los Angeles area. I've been a handyman for many years, doing minor repairs. I now offer to do it in the nude.

It's fun and it gets me extra business. I don't charge nearly what he does.

Who knows.

This may be the start of a trend.

I saw that a few days ago also... I don't think I would be able to charget NEARLY as much as he is. :)
