Posted - 07/14/2008 : 11:28:59 AM Whispering Pines is a great place to relax and de-stress or play water volleyball or just chat with old and new friends.
Over National Nude Weekend these past 9 years, I have organized a canoe trip and used this park as our base camp.
Some of us arrived at the park on Friday night as we did and rented one of their trailers aka park models; some tent camped. Others met us at the put-in landing on Saturday morning. Once we finally all got together after shuttling cars, it was the perfect day. We had 10 boats on the river. We stopped a number of times to skinny dip, eat lunch, and enjoy nature. No one spilled although one boater got stuck on a sandbar and a log tried to hold him hostage once.
We saw some interesting tracks that included deer and turtles and probably a wild turkey or two.
The weather was the best we've ever had including a lower than expected humidity. Those clubs represented in the trip: Travelites, North Carolina Naturists, Triangle Area Naturists, Whispering Pines.
All but three boaters returned to the park in time to clean ourselves up and join in the yummy Italian potluck supper. Everything from eggplant parmesan to linguine w/clam sauce plus desserts to really make your mouths water. Later on Saturday, karaoke and dancing were on the menu.
There were a few youngsters at the park, many were over 30, and they are all great folk, we look forward to a return next time.
Sunday the weather remained perfect. At about 4pm, we decided to start back with a 2-hr. stop at a good Italian restaurant in Little River. :) Cheri

Posted - 06/15/2009 : 2:42:26 PM No, the hot tub didn't have water in it. Sorry Josh, I forgot to mention that. It was tucked over in the corner and I forgot about them even having a hot tub until Teva's post.

Posted - 06/14/2009 : 2:12:34 PM Rox, were the hot tubs operational? If you have AANR and/or TNS membership through a club, I would assume they've continued welcoming singles since the manager there is knowledgeable. Teva |

Posted - 06/10/2009 : 4:20:57 PM My wife and I visited there last month. The people were friendly enough. They pretty much kept to themselves, but they would speak when they walked by you at the pool, etc. Obviously, we were there as a couple and I can't really speculate on how they would treat a single male. I will say that there were men at the pool area who did not have a significant other with them at the pool. Since we were only visiting, they may have been members of the resort for all I know.
The "clubhouse" was old, but fairly clean. The women's shower/bathroom area was being remodeled when we were there so everybody shared the men's side. The men's shower and outside shower area were not the best we have seen, but they did allow us to rinse off before heading home.

Posted - 06/10/2009 : 09:44:57 AM Has anyone been there recently that can tell me what it's like for a single man? Are the people friendly or will I be treated like a leaper because I go alone? Is it clean? I already get it bad enough in this area because I'm military (the locals get tired of the young kids gettin into trouble so all of us have to deal with the crap) so I'm looking for a place that I can relaxe and have a good time. |

Posted - 08/25/2008 : 4:25:26 PM We visited last summer while we were staying in Ocean Isle Beach. It was the only place in the area that was C.O. They were friendly and family oriented.

It's a long haul from north Alabama but eventually I want to get a group together and visit Whispering Pines. At one point, I think it was up for sale. Is that still the case?

The new owner is supposed to take over Sept. 2. Only time will tell. Next year, at least a couple will be venturing to Whispering Pines from the Watertown, NY area. :) Cheri
