Posted - 09/14/2011 : 12:23:41 AM Psycho K, it's not an extreme sexuality-distancing model. It's the nudist model, and quite normal that people expect you to keep your behavior in check while nude in their presence.
Would you mind not continuing this line of discussion, you're creeping people out. The opportunity to walk around and flaunt your erection while expecting people to be totally normal about it just doesn't happen in nudism. I would advise you not to ever behave that way around real nudists, you'll probably get arrested. |

Posted - 09/01/2011 : 04:31:48 AM 22 years old. Male nudist from NYC. I've been naked in public only twice (Lighthouse Beach, 2010. Gunnison Beach, 2011) and the lack of people in our age group (especially female) fully participating (naked) is very noticeable. A lot of my friends know and I guess most are accepting, but none are willing to participate. That doesn't bother me too much since people who are more comfortable clothed have every right to be. It would be nice to have some nudist friends though. These two beaches I went to were hell to get to since I did not have access to a car. Once I do have a car, I would visit nude beaches and the like more. It would be nice to meet some other younger NYC nudists there.
While it is possible that the correlation between nudity and sex discourages younger people from being nudists, I don't necessarily see a need for social nudism to distance itself from sexuality as much as possible. For the purposes of preventing paranoid textiles from closing nudist areas, the distancing makes sense; "family-friendly" all the way.
Other than that, let's suppose there was a nudist area with a high percentage of people in the 18-25 age group. Attractiveness is high at this age, so arousal is likely. For males, an erection may result. He decides to socialize with someone while erect. Both he and the other person should not feel awkward (I guess women are more likely to). There is a lot less tension like this, whereas the extreme sexuality-distancing model would probably say he should have hidden it.
I assume people who have gone to nude college parties (very likely indoors? I've never been to one) would know something about how this actually works. Somehow, I get the feeling these events are novelties rather than popular. |

I'd love to get to know some people in this community. I'm 18 and looking for a part time new life or just some fun changes.
I am from MN and looking to meet new friends as well. Do you visit the local clubs or beaches? |

Posted - 01/02/2011 : 10:11:31 AM 20 year old male nudist here. My parents raised me to be open with everything and are really leaned back. They'd oftenly let me walk around naked around the house when I was a kid.
I started sleeping naked around 14~15. After that I started taking the trip from bathroom to room without a towel and spending time in my room naked. On a few hot days my parents caught me nude, they raised their brows but never said anything about it. I know my sister and her bf are home nudists since I can oftenly find them with the curtains closed at their house and them oftenly making remarks to being nude. I might ask them if its okay if I went over there with them and just enjoy a few days of social nudity with my sister and her boyfriend. They seem really open about it since they were openly like me.
Fingers crossed! |

I'm 18 years old (guy) trying to become social nudist but it hasn't been easy finding people my age, and now going off to college in a state that, to my knowledge, HAS NO nudist resorts / beaches / etc. I am really struggling
Good to finally hear from the younger nudists!
Where are you from/going to school? It's really great to hear that more people our age are into this. I'm liking that and finding it very encouraging! |

Posted - 03/23/2010 : 9:16:06 PM Hey everyone! I'm a 23 year old nudist from Charlotte, NC. To be quite honest, I haven't found a single person down here that's our age. All of the people that I am fortunate enough to talk to all live far far away. Feel free to say hello ;) |

Posted - 03/23/2010 : 07:04:26 AM It's really discouraging! I hope that we can all find places to fit in and be who we want to be. It's too bad our society and protestant upbringing (as a country) has led us to feel that our bodies are evil. I am hoping to find a good place to be a nudist with people around my age! |

Posted - 03/21/2010 : 12:05:28 AM Tan is right, it's not our generation, but our country's fixed image on nudity=sex. This image is particularly damaging to teenagers and young adults who are new to their sexuality and who are self-concious about their bodies. Also, America is known to have little tolerance on difference. Compared to our European neighbors, we are very conservative. |

Posted - 03/13/2010 : 9:48:45 PM I agree with both TAN and dtidew. I just turned 20 this year and from what I understand is that many kids just have been raised both by their parents and by American society to equate the nude human body to sex and lewdness. Therefore it must be inherently wrong. Sad I think. I wish it were different. Well at least we know better!!

Posted - 02/18/2010 : 01:51:14 AM In regards to having friends who are also into nudism... In short, I have definitely had more luck in making friends who are understanding, accepting, and participating in nudism now that I'm living overseas.
P.S. I'm taking the Admin up on the offer, and I'm starting a topic in the forum. Reply, everyone!
