I have been on some nudist boards and the thing what made me feel uncomfortable was, that you could not talk about adult themes with adults on an adult board.
I respect the restrictions but there has to be open talk about everything somewhere.
So I created The Openminded Nudist Board

I think you can separate nudity and sex just as Textiles do. Nudists enjoy sex, but it is kept in the same context as the clothed world. Nudism is a family friendly activity. Nudists have sex in private just like other people do.

Nudity is a vehicle. It provides no direction, and its owner must steer it in one direction or another. If the owner steers toward a nudist resort, then the scenery will be family-oriented. If the vehicle is steered toward sex, than you are going in the direction of a swinger resort, with all of its expected scenery. The vehicle does not decide, only the person inside can. In that sense nudity is nothing without direction. Where you take it makes all the difference.

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.

Hi all,

I think a lot of you guys and girls have brought some very good and valid points into play here with this thread - great to read honest and open discussion.

Now first of all, I want to say that whilst I have known and admired Cheri for her promotion of nudism for the last 8 or 9 years or so, I think that she can be overly politically correct about being naked by trying to divorce it from ALL sexual activity.

Of course, being naked can be a sexual thing in the right places and circumstances, but it isn't necessary to go from simple nudism to full blown sexual activity.

I agree with her though that after 20 years of being into it (this year marks my 18th of nudism btw), the sexual novelty eventually wears off and it becomes more natural and second nature to you. This is what the general public has yet to understand.

And I don't know where that bigmama woman from the UK got the idea that exhibitionism is more common on nude beaches in Europe?

I don't know about over there so much, but in OZ our women DON'T wear navel or genital jewellry or trim their pubic hair in odd designs to draw attention to themselves at nude beaches.

They either do it for themselves or their loved ones - they go to nude beaches to just chill out and relax.

A case in point: I've done massage at Confest (a clothes optional 6 day alternative living and arts festival in southern Australia) on young ladies with genital piercings and fancy pubic hairdos and have not been turned on in the least. Not because I'm asexual or a prude, but because the atmosphere both ecological and social does not enhance it. I'm there to do a massage on them, not to ogle their pink bits.

Next thing, I do think that people who exploit the nudist movement to promote pornographic agendas tend to do more harm than good for it - especially in my country. Australian organised nudism is in very bad shape at the moment due to lack of good leadership, and the masses being so uneducated about it. It really p.isses me off when I see sites like green pics, or teen nudists promote nudism as being gang bangs on beaches featuring attractive young adults (both guys and girls). It is NOT what the reality of nudism is like, even with the young.

I live in a state which has never had any legal nudist beaches, and if the politicians were to ever come across those sites they'd just throw all the nudist's proposals out.

So people: please exercise some common sense if you're going to go out nude in public. If you are new to the lifestyle, learn to exercise a bit of self control and take responsibility for your behaviour no matter what age you are.

Sexual activity in any public setting has never been a turn-on for me. On the the hand, it really doesen't bother me either. I have seen BJ's going on at the beach and hot-tub in Jamaica. I could care less. This was at HEDO 2.

As far as what going nude all day with my wife does to me, and how it stimulates me???

Well...

For sure, I do enjoy seeing my wife nude on the beach in public. I enjoy being nude in public myself.

At the end of the day, when she and I are under the covers having sex, well, yes, my previous experiences with her DO come into play (in my mind).

Teenagers need to be able to both feel adult presence and to be by themselves at the same time. :-) Activities are key IMHO to keeping adults involved but on the periphery. Clear guidelines, group activities and frequent checks seems to work. Even older teens who should generally be left alone can still feel safe if adults are within earshot and a fuss would bring people running. It's not good to have them sneaking off to where they could be in danger.

Most of the time, when I go to a place where people are naked, most of the people there are either too young to understand about sex or too old to be able to engage in it freely.

Tamara and Riftalope,

Are you saying that nudism would be more popular amongst young people if there were no unusual prohibitions against sexual play/touching that wouldn't apply in a clothed setting?

Many strong arguments would suggest otherwise. Particularly, young women fear to go to nudist environments because they don't want to be sexually harrassed. Since the young women don't go, the young men don't go.

I think those young women and men who strongly wish to be nudists will be nudists, regardless of restrictions...And, like rebelious youths, they will do whatever they want and take the consequences. However, they will not be nudists regardless of sexual harrassment. They'll just shy away, as they do.

Personally, I'm sympathetic to your argument. But, as a man, that's easy for me. I'd like to see you defend against that argument, particularly as concerns young women.

hi,
im tamara from belgium.
my parents were naturists and i went the club with them alot, as a kid but also as a teenager. And as a teenager i must admit i did 'horse around' too. Think all teenagers, nudist or none nudist have done that. We offcourse didnt do it in front of others but at the club there were places enough with some grade of privacy were we could kiss, hug and some more. But if you go to a party full of teenagers you see the same in the dark corners.
nowadays my husband and i go to the same club, now and then. but i still see teenagers dissapear to the same locations.

I've come back from a clothed event (convention) in a hotel. While there I saw something that nudists couldn't get away with doing. A young teen couple where kissing, hugging and "horseing around" in the pool. Both being the same relative size, they'd carry eachother and kiss while walking. Having done this myself both as a kid and an adult I knew exactly where their hands where when I couldn't see them. If they were nude they wouldn't have the cover of cloth to hide their hands or his erection. If they were in a nudist club they wouldn't be alowed to be that intamate with three other people in the pool and more in the hottub. Because they could be less obvious when they let go of eachother and the boy's board shorts hid the boner, they were left alone. This made me realize one more reason young people don't stay in nudism.

All I know is that when we have a group of friends together, there is alway a welcoming and a goodbye hug, this is whether we are on the beach or in the privacy of someones home.

I know my wife and I alway will hold hands when we venture off together whether it is going to the pool, lake, or back to our room, and yes we do the same thing as we walk along Commonwealth Ave. in Boston.

We are all old enough to know what is right or wrong, so why don't we all behave accordingly.

There is a simple answer to the question: Do nudists have sex?
The answer is yes they do, otherwise there would be no nudist children/families.
But I do agree with what has been said, there is no place for overt sexual activity or sexual touching at resorts etc But, hand-holding and kissing are perfectly acceptable in my opinion. Also, I hug my friends when we say goodbye clothed, that has no sexual intent, so why not with my nudist friends?

Unfortunately few see the middle road that Jenn has expressed. To some a couple holding hands and sharing a casual kiss is way too sexual and no one should even shake hands at a nudist venue. Others see it as premission to let the wild orgy begin. If we were just to follow a middle road of sensible conduct we'd have a lot less arguing endlessly about this topic.

Excellent posts, all... this thread is turning into quite a valuable exchange of ideas. Let me just add one clarification to my previous comments. I'm certainly against orgy-like activities at our beloved camps, beaches, and resorts. Heck, I even take a pretty conservative view about erections (even innocently-induced ones). The main opinion I've tried to communicate here is that nudists look and sound silly when they say that there is ZERO connection between nudism and sex. Myself, I don't think the connection is a MAJOR one, but it's there, mainly in the form of the innocent delight in seeing attractive nude folks who momentarily draw one's attention. But, yeah, staring is indeed in bad form, as is public sex or near sex. All clear? :)
