Hi! We're considering a nude cruise and have a few questions that we hope those with nude cruising experience will help elucidate:
1. On a traditional cruise ship (Carnival, etc) is nudity allowed anywhere on the ship or just around the pool area? And, are there some set of rules about dress and activities?
2. Are the people that generally go on a nude cruise true nudists? swingers? gawkers? (We assume there is some percentage of each group.)
3. When going to an island, we assume one must wear something until they get to the beach.

Thanks for helping us understand!

Carnival Legend, what a great ship - We made sure that we had one of the balconies.

Carnival does have an "adult area" usually the upper area with the signature fin standing up. I have gone in just a poaing strip and have also been nude

That is the only area, besides your own private balcony that is nude

Women, of course, would have to use that area for topless sunning. My wife found it uncomfortable to stay away from the edges, as it was ok to be topless up there but not be seen

Enjoy your trip = We did the Legend two years ago and this past May Fascination (no balcony this time.) Great ports of call and we fell in love with Cozumel.

Only problem we had on the last cruise was the drunk that heaved over the side and it landed on deck below with people standing nearby. It was the outside dinning area of the most forward deck. Needless to say, quite a few people just stood up and left their place -

I've been on two Bare Necessities nude cruises, and they were a lot of fun. You have to dress for meals in the dining room, although casual dress is the norm. Otherwise, you can be nude any time you wish. Although there are some swinging couples on the cruises, they keep it very private. The atmosphere on the ship us much like any AANR resort. Generally, the ship's crew says that the nudists are the best passengers, more friendly and less demanding.

We are booked on the Carnival Legend Homecoming Cruise in Feb. It is our first nude cruise after 16 textile cruises.
1. On a traditional cruise, most cruise ships do not have nude areas anywhere on the ship. Some have topless decks, and some advertise Adult decks....Obviously, if the ship is chartered, as the Legend, you can sunbathe anywhere in the nude.
2. You are right, there will be a mixture of all, and you will even have some that never remove their clothes at all.
3. Depending on the island, nudity on a beach may, or may not be allowed.

Let us know if you book the cruise.....we are in the Triangle area too.........

The best answers re a nude cruise should come from the travel agent you intend to use. There are travel agencies that specialize in this type of cruise and therefore are very knowledgable. You must distinguish between a generic cruise and a nude cruise. On a generic cruise I don't believe you will find any nude areas - however, some have topless areas.

Travel from ship to shore for nude beaching, for example, probably will be nude. As to clientele, the vast majority will be true nudists. They book a nude cruise to be with like individuals.

If you need further help, ask the forum.

You might contact the cruise line.
