It's a warm day in June and you are eight years old when your parents call you and your sibling into the house and inform you that for the past few weeks they have been visiting a nudist camp and tommorrow they want it to be a family adventure. They explain that when you get there they have camping, a swimming pool, pond and other outdoor activities and lots of kids they say the only difference from other outing that you have gone to is that you do it without clothes. You also have the option of going for the weekend to Aunt Martha, what do you think you would do and why. |

The way the world is going I would love to go back to age 8 and go and be carefree, splash and play in the nude at the local nudist club..In A Heartbeat ! |

I grew up in the country and most of us went swimming nude until we were well into our teens.
Few became nudists, but I never left. I would have gladly jumped in the car and gone.
If the camp I went to was the same one my parents would have gone to, there were a lot of things for teenagers to do apart from the adults/with minimal adult supervision. So that would not have mattered either. |

I think, if my parents (who had absolutely NO aspirations to be nudists) had SENT me to such a place, I would have gone, gladly. But for them to TAKE me there? I think not. The awkwardness factor would have been too great.

Phydeau I think you are right about age 12, I think everything I did was ackward or somebody was looking at me, when I got my first pair of bell botttom pants I wouldn't leave the yard in them let along wear them to school for a week or two. And I can see why teenagers have so many hang up now days, apparently we have forgotten all our hangups from back then. |

When I was 8, I probably would have just gone and not given it a second thought. It wouldn't have even been a matter of being shy or not - It would have just been something else that I've never done before, like eating sushi (which I did when I was 8, and probably never will again).
Change that to 12, and there's no way in Hades that scores of wild horses would have been able to drag me there.

At 8 years old I would have been thrilled to go camping clothed, much less nude. Although my parents and siblings were pretty "free and easy" about nudity within the family, the idea of nudity around strangers was never considered. My parents talked about going camping one year, but we never did.
Fortunately, my wife likes both camping and nudity (beaches and resorts, as well as at home), so our kids get the fun we never had - and we have fun with them!

 If I remember correctly I was born that way it was the nurse who slapped my butt then put a diaper on me & been tryin to get naked ever since!
We will all probably end up in a diaper inm the end I think thats why they came up with adult diapers.  But they will bury me well actually after I donate whatever they can harvest from my remains to mgive to someone else there will be less to cremate and SCATTER ON A NUDE BEACH!

I think it would have been cool and with in the realm of possiblility. I remember seeing my parents nude at different times. My father was from Denmark and we lived there for a short time when I was very young. I make that conection because of the liberal attitude the Danish people have towards nudity. We then moved to Santa Maria, California on the central coast in the late 1960's and by the early 1970's had bought a farm in Oregon. So it would not have been much of a stretch for me. As things turned out I was nude in my backyard and in the fields and forests near my home as often as I could get away with it.

I think all of us are glad we are able to experience the nudist lifestyle, while you are at it take some photo's no one needs to see them but you, I have some from over 20 years ago when I look at them I think back on all the great times just like when I took photos with clothes on. Hopefully when i'm in my 90's I will still enjoy looking and reflecting. |

I was born in 60's grew up in the 70's turned 21 in the 80's lucky to survive the 80's. I went to a catholic school for eight years these subjects never got brought up. |

I sure understand, O.B. At least at some point in your life, you did start going nude. That's more than most people could say. In that sense, count yourself as being fortunate. If you were anybody else, you probably would never have been a nudist. Flaunt it, O.B.!!

My parents were very strict so my experences with nudity were nill and void.So not until recently have I got into nudisum.Sure wish I had some one twenty years ago to introduce me to the life style.Its a great way to live out your senior years.Just wish my wife would change her mind,maybe some day???...........old buzzard

What an interesting period in history. It was slightly ahead of my time, but I heard about it a lot from my parents, who weren't hippies at all but nonetheless very sympathetic to them (notwithstanding the fact that my father was a career military officer). 60's music was always playing in our house when I was growing up, and our dinner-table discussions frequently revolved around so-called "radical" themes. It was a wonderful time :)
