I had a thought, me and my wife own a business and are getting ready to close it. Is it possible to take our building and start a private club? and if so how would we go about doing it? I have a few ideas for things for the people to do, but would they come together just to hang out nude? What are some ideas for this? any suggestions would be great, cause the nearest place is over 2 hours away. At any rate its just an idea.

Very true Teva.

On any project, you need to see what you can and cannot do.
You should also look at other possibilities. I helped build a "Racquet Club" in North Carolina so the owner could "serve" alchohol with meals. The place didn't have any courts but you got a complimentary racquet with your daily membership.
In many states its not just being a private club that gets you into what you want but what type of private club.
I'm looking at places to do a club myself.

You are so right, Teva. Legality and local codes are everything.

Find out the legalities of it before you do anything else. The US (where I'm at) is different as to laws of other countries. Plus we have different laws in different states.

Before starting a club, the first step is to do your market research, just as if you were starting any kind of business. You need to learn how many potential members are in your area. You can place an ad in the AANR Bulletin and see what kind of response you get. I believe that if you contact the Naturist Society and give them the zip codes of the area you propose to serve, they will query their database and let you know how many members thay have in your area. Of course, they won't give you a membership list, but they may do a blind mailing, where you produce a flier that they approve, then you stuff and stamp the envelopes, and send them to TNS for mailing.

Since your existing location is more likely NOT zoned for such use, going the non landed club route for awhile most likely is best. Check your local city, county and state regs and licensing requirements for nudist clubs. If you have other clubs in your state it would be good to talk to them as well to see what problems they have dealt with. Ask the AANR, TNS and any clubs in your area for recommendations for lawyers familiar with the needs and litigations of nudist clubs, a necessary evil to have in place before hand so you can deal with the control freaks that WILL try to close you down or regulate you out of existence . Hope you succeed, we truly need more clubs throughout the country.

The AANR is a good place to start. I can also recommend contacting TNS. The more you get the word out, more people will attend.

I'm part of AANR's mentoring and marketing programs and would be happy to help where I can.

Thanks for the input, I have contacted the AANR and they are putting me in touch with a few others to help seed things along. We are thinking about starting it as a nonlanded club for the time being and see where it goes from there.

I don't see why not. Especially if you had space you could throw up a swimming pool or hot tub.

If you are in the US, I'd get in touch with the AANR. In Canada, get in touch with FCN. (elsewhere, find the respective organization). They would likely have some advice for you.
