What do you make of the fact that this forum has only 521 contributors must 2601 members?

And, two topics that have the word "sex" in the topic have been viewed over 35,000 times combined.

I find it strange that people would become members and not bother contributing to the Site.

Cheers,
Spontanudity

I usually lurk more than I post, but I've truly enjoyed this website. Its been great to see my own views reflected on this website. For years I'd had to defend my views on nudity with "Everyone is naked under their clothes." or "50% of the world has what you you have, why worry about someone seeing it?"

Even with the topics that we've become bored with, at some point, education must happen in order for nudists to gain acceptance. This website is a great educational tool for that.

Nobility is not a birthright, it is defined by one's actions.

Being new to the lifestyle myself, this site has become my "nudist handbook" so to speak. I really don't think I've come across a thread that is "useless" in any sence. Sure some become repetitive, but sometimes that's what it takes to touch upon every detail, that all contributors have to offer.

Some of the topics relating to sex, erections, shaving, etc. Though sometimes overdone, carries with it a lot of useful information for newcomers. This site to me is about promoting and educating others about the nudist/naturist lifestyle. And the above mentioned topics may be of real concern to someone just starting out. The best way to learn about a lifestyle, is to listen to those who live it.

I haven’t visited this particular topic for years. Frankly, I’m a bit surprised that page six seems to be so far removed from the original topic. When Spont started this topic back on 11/19/2003, there were 521 contributors out of 2601 members, and his concern was why so few posters and so many “lurkers.” Our Admin has worked hard and effectively to promote this site. Today, not 4 years later, we have 12,720 members-almost 5 times that number. I think he best answered the original question where he explains the benefits of having this visibility and the ways that we are protected from those who aren’t “real” nudists. That visibility certainly has caused us to grow.:

If I understand your question correctly, it relates to restricting access to parts of the site.

As we have it now, non-members can view all topics and all posts, but are restricted from viewing members profile information or using email functions.

The photo gallery is open for all visitors, as it was designed for the public to notice nudism in a better light. The members photo albums however, are restricted to registered members.

The member's comments are most helpful to non-members, who need access to good information. Since we're open to the public, we have a strict standard of policy regarding what we will or will not promote for content and links.

One benefit of being non-restricted is our effective visibility and coverage in the search engines, which no other nudist website can match.

And I refer you to my post of 12/04/2003 as I think it bears repeating. I wouldn’t worry about “lurkers,” I think they are just interested in the topic. Not everyone feels a need to say something.

Welcome new people!

Reading these posts, I've come to the conclusion that we shouldn't make assumptions about people's intentions. I think that those quieter members are just interested in seeing what others think and maybe what others have to say. If they were here for a thrill, they would soon find out that there are no thrills to be had here, and would soon leave, so I think we are in good company.

We are here to share ideas. It's OK to be a spectator and get ideas and info that way too. I have a friend who is in no way interested in becoming a naturist, but he likes to read as a guest, because he says it's interesting to hear our thoughts.

Again welcome all!

I have started a new topic in this area, it is called:

Can we convince the "real nudist" to stay?

Jenn, Cookie, Cheri and all the other "old salts", please go to the subject and clue us in. At least some of us would really appreciate it.

I am very disappointed in the fact that we appear to be losing some of our "old salts", those that are most informed on the subjects on which we need instruction. I'm not referring to the "hot topics", i.e. erections, shaving, sex and the like. I'm more interested in how you became nudists as a couple. My wife and I just visited our first resort last weekend, too cold for much, but we did get a good self tour that was intersting. My wife has been reluctant but supportive of my involvement, however, to not get off topic too far, we look forward to reading your posts and would hate to see you leave this forum. How do you recommend we correct the issues?

I agree, it is sometimes redundant (in fact, this conversation is as well isn't it?).

I would fear, however, that if all the experienced (and I don't really count myself in that crowd) leave, there is not a chance to make things better!

I want to send thanks to those like Cookie, Jenn and Cheri as well as others for keeping us on track and honest.

At some point, we need to quit talking about this stuff and get out and participate.

My excuse, however, is a spouse that resists so.... I do what I can when I can.

This is why I prefer to look for the answers to my questions first instead of asking the same thing that a dozen other people asked. I will search through several pages looking for a topic that I have a question about, if I don't find what I am looking for then and only then would i start a new topic.

I, too, am very tired and annoyed by continual references to "sex, erections, and shaving". Ho, Hum.

Jenn:

I feel the same as you do. It is the same old stuff!

How often do you shave!

How does it feel to be smooth!

I have no posted as I did before.

Maybe you could tell me the other sites that you found. If you want to E Mail it would be great.

I can't wait for the warm weather. We are in the midst of a Northeaster, no snow, but plenty of rain.

Hope to hear!

As many of of you who are frequent posters, might have noticed I am not really posting on here anymore. This is due to the fact that most of the discussion is centered around topics that involve sex, erections, and shaving. I have simply become tired of these topics. There are most likely many others who fall into this category. I used to log on every day and post in various topics, including those I just mentioned. But now, I have said all I have to say regarding those issues. There are other sites, which I have found more oriented toward REAL nudists. Not to say that there are not REAL nudists on this site, but I do think legitimate practising nudists, who actually live their lives as such, are in the minority now on here. So I will still come on this site from time to time and post, but not as much anymore.

Since I joined these forums last year I have been an infrequent poster. For me it is more important to learn what others think than it is to say what I think. As someone who is new to social nudism I wanted to know how I fit into the group. Are my views going to prevent me from having harmonious relationships with others in the group? Therefore I spent some time lurking to become familiar with what my newly chosen lifestyle was all about.

I find it curious that some of us think of the lurkers as second class members, after all isn't it our intent as posters to have our posts read? When we speak aren't we expecting that there are people listening? Consider the lurkers as spectators at a debate. If they ask a question or make a comment that's great. If not that's great too. I think we're better off because we have them. I say welcome.

I lurked in these forums for several months before posting. I had joined another forum previously but quickly realized that my views were not welcome.

Before posting here, I wanted to make sure that I wouldn't have a mob coming after me with pitchforks and torches for my conservative views!

What would be scarier than that???
A NAKED mob coming after you with pitchforks and torches!

Yes, and in fact, by the time I got to the forums, you had posted many times more than that.

Thanks for doing so as it makes the forums that much more interesting (and diverse).

I will admit I "lurk" more than I post here, but I do it only to educate myself on what looks like my new lifestyle. I have always enjoyed being nude around my house, and until I found this forum and had the chance to talk to some very nice people, I had my doubts as to whether or not I could attend a social gathering such as a resort or beach. Thanks to all that post here, you information has been invaluable.
