I'm new here so cut me some slack. I'm not some troll or perv trying to get his rocks off but I am genuinely curious. I've heard so many times that: "Nudism has absolutely nothing to do with sex and there is complete respect for the human body to not be viewed sexually", yet when the average non-nudist Joe or Jane masterbates they tend to think of nudity as sexually arousing. Do nudists picture anything different when engaged in masterbation? Because it is very contradicting to the so called "true" nudist ideal. With such advocacy toward a non-sexual look toward the body, it is left to question when masterbation occurs, which is a completely natural and healthy action taken by all, do average nudists engage in it in a way that is different from the average non-nudist does? Or is there certain exception toward viewing the human body sexually. That's all I'm trying to find out. I mean no disrespect, I simply want honest answers. Again, I'm not trying to criticize or offend. If I have done either, I am truely sorry.

ya, guess I didn't express that too well. Whether it is with yourself, or as an act of loving with someone else...hope that makes more sense. It's (I feel) should be something in private and not in naturist, or any, public forum-arena.

loving life as naked as possible!

"Masturbation has nothing to do with naturism. It does have to do with being with the one you love".
Benjamin I got a kick from this part of your post, considering the subject.

Masturbation has nothing to do with naturism. It does have to do with being with the one you love and being part of making love with that person...enjoying and being enjoyed by that person. I guess that naturists do, or don't masturbate like everyone else, but in private.

What is the nudist movement's favorite NFL team? I guess we're allowed to collective root for just one team. Hmmm. That is if I follow the logic of the topic. At least it drives home the point that no two nudists are alike, and there is no universal pattern of thinking, morals, personalities, or preferences among nudists.

"How do nudists feel about eating bagels" is another topic that needs to be addressed...

How do nudists feel about masterbation <sic>?

Well, the first thing I would do is spell it correctly. Other than that, one might as well ask nudist what brand of computer they own. Being a nudist has no bearing on it.

I feel masturbation is spelled with a "u" in the middle.

Anything that can be done, can be done better while nude.

I'm sure that nudists are just as sexual as anyone else. What a nudist might fantasize while masturbating is probably about the same as non-nudists. Although there probably are some people for whom the sight of an exposed body part might be sufficient stimulation for masturbation, I think most people fantasize about what might occur during an intimate encounter with some real or imagined person(s).

I suppose it's natural for a textile to think that everyone at a nude gathering spends their time in a state of perpetual sexual arousal imagining they are engaging in promiscuous sexual activity with every attractive individual present. This just doesn't happen. We can all be just as sensual and sexual as anyone else, but not simply because those around us are nude in public.

Of course there is sexual activity at nude venues, but it is behind closed doors, just like it is elsewhere in society. Nudists have the ability to separate sex from nudity. Most, if not all, textiles probably have this ability as well, but they don't realize it because they never tried it.

Nudists are everywhere, but they're hard to identify with their clothes on.

The so called "true" nudist ideal you speak of doesn't exist. As far as I can tell, whenever people use that term it is in a derogatory manor directed towards another who may not subscribe to the views of the individual labeling themselves as such. It's clearly an attempt to elevate oneself to claim moral superiority over the misguided soul who's not enlightened enough to be a "true" nudist.

Take away that label and your question then becomes "How do you feel about masturbation?" Which is a question better suited in a forum on sexuality.

So that's about as mature an answer you're going to find, and I didn't even have to use bold font ;-)

Cheers!

Safebare, you sound a lot like my SO, who is fantastic. Bob, you are so wise. Mikeanddebbie, welcome, and I am totally with you. A nude body can be sexual, asexual, or antisexual, depending on the person inside. And so can a clothed body. Hernandocpl, thanks for the laugh tonight! I needed it. Be good to yourselves, all of you.

Thank you. Finally, some mature and honest answers. So it is more of the envisioning of sexual intimacy, rather than textiles envisioning of the naked body in a sexual way. It is reasonable to say that that could very well be true. I, myself, am a textile in the process of converting to a nudist lifestyle. This has been very insightful. Before as a textile, I would think of the body as a sexual object, now I understand far more than I did that the body should be viewed as something of beauty. Growing up my entire life to believe otherwise is pretty sad and pathetic. I'm hopefully one step closer to understanding what it truely means to be a nudist. Thank you. You have helped me more than you know.

The only difference I see between the sexual nature of naturists vs. textiles has to do with our comfort with the nude body. We do not see the nude body itself as a sexual stimulus. Textiles probably do, but since I don't belong to that group, my assumption is just that.
I do get sexually aroused by certain individuals, but that can occur regardless of the presence of clothes. An intimate conversation will get me going more so than seeing a naked breast or genital. After all, the brain is the largest, most important sex organ in the human body.

ok...your first question: Do nudists picture anything different when engaged in masterbation? Answer: Yes people (not just nudists) can be triggered to masterbate without picturing(seeing)someone nude. Second question: Do average nudists engage in it in a way that is different from the average non-nudist does? Most nudists don't see the naked body as sexual because the nudist is not performing. To be sexual the naked body needs to perform as such by actions such as touching and or expressions that are sexual which the nudist community frowns on as sex is not meant for public.

Please read the entire question that I have written above before you answer. And let's try to be mature when answering. Think before you act.

If I see someone masturbating when I am at a nudist resort I think he/she is a perv and stay as far away as possible. It turns me off! I am there to enjoy my freedom of nudity not to watch porn.
