I'm looking for every great spot for nude camping, backpacking, skinny-dipping anywhere on the globe. NOT day-use only ocean beaches--there's plenty of rsources for them. Instead, the wilderness campsites, backcountry trails, streams, creeks, ponds, lakes, old rope swings, hot springs, ... and ocea beaches with overnight camping--all where clothes are optional or "unusual."

Thanks blavan. I wasn't aware of the facilities on the dune trail. The Visitor Contact Station at False Cape is pretty nice also. They will even give you emergency rations if you need them to get back to your car, which will be about 4 miles away. False Cape SP is said to be one of the most remote state parks in the country. It is only reachable by bicycle, hiking or by boat/kayak. Bicycles become pretty useless once you are past the Contact Station, except on the beach, which is passable all the way to The NC border. While there on the beach, I've searched in each direction for a minimum of a mile either way, and not seen another soul. While nudity is illegal, it is so remote and so unpatrolled..... What makes it so remote is that it is beyond the Back Bay NWR, which is pretty remote in itself as well. Cheers!

You are right about the Back Bay Federal Land and the False Cape State Park to the south being isolated. There are some basic restroom facilities on the dune trail in False Cape between an old Park Ranger Residence and the beach trail in case you are not aware. It's not very far from the beach.
This ilderness area is a perfect place to be nude, and it is too bad that it is not a sanctioned clothing optional area.

I have walked nude for miles and hours and seen others, though not many, do the same, virtualy undisturbed at False Cape State Park / Back Bay NWR. Its a beautifully desolate 9 mile stretch of virgin barrier island just south of the Sandbridge area of Virginia beach. Gotta keep your textiles close at hand though. Some are still allowed commuting rights from Corova, NC to VaBeach by driving on the beach. This is slowly dimishing though. I only recall seeing one ranger checking turtle nests during all my visits there. Most visitors stay inland on the trails within a mile or two of the parking lot on the north end, or kayak behind the island. On the beach, you can see anyone else for a long long way. You are not allowed to set up sunbathing swimming, surfing, etc. until you are out of the NWR. Bring lots of water, high protien snacks and some good walking shoes. There are no services once you leave the visitors center. Riding a bicycle is allowed. It's easy to imagine you are a thousand miles from anywhere.

I still try to even in public campgrounds choose a spot that is secluded enough that I can change clothes etc at my campsite without prying eyes. I have done it before and while I am not 100% blocked from view the bushes hide enough that others who can see know I am nude but about 5% chance they see the details of it :)

FireProf, a similar incident happened the last time my girlfriend and I were at Gunnison Beach. We were down near the water making a sand castle when all of a sudden.. drip...drip...drip.. and then out of nowhere it came down like someone was pouring a giant bottomless bucket of water on us! God that was a long walk back to the car... lol.

We've (my wife and I) only hiked naked once, so far. WE visited DeAnza Springs Nudist Resort in Jacumba, CA ... about 70+ miles east of San Diego. Lots and lots of hiking trails in the Anza Borrego Nat'l Park. Nude hiking is encouraged by the front office and they strongly suggest you check in with them so they can ask a few questions.

They asked us how experienced we were. How long a hike we anticipated taking and then made some trail recommendations and told us what we should make sure to take. Before we left, we stopped by the office and told the woman, that checked us in, that we were going to take %^& Trail and she made note of it. I liked that idea.

We took about a two hour hike and only returned because a thunder storm was brewin'. We got back to the car just as it started to rain. WE drove over to the shower/head building to freshen up before we headed home and it started to pour!

Nice shower and naked ride home!

I understand your thoughts Carlover, but if I followed that advice I would never go hiking. I have been hiking naked and solo most of my life. I take a map when available, but that too is not always available. The new GPS deal is good too, but even that doesn't work all the time. Good advice when possible though.

I don't know how experienced any of you guys are, but just a couple of friendly reminders: doesn't matter whether you hike/backpack clothed or unclothed, NEVER hike without a trail map, and NEVER EVER hike alone. I'm pretty experienced, and I'm not saying that none of you are, but to those of you are who are new to hiking in general, just keep these two things in mind.

On a side note, Does anyone know of any trails at all in the New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania area where my girlfriend and I could hike nude? Even if it's just a secluded trail in a state park, any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks!

Does it really matter? People just want to converse and be part of the conversation. Does it have to be strict and restricted to exactly what the topic heading is?

We have a annual trip to Death Valley. Although the past few trips have been in trailers and tents ... it's been suggested that we do one with just the older guys (the last few have been dad's and son's) and either tent or sleep out under the stars and cook by campfire.

I'd love to do this but not sure my knees and back will accomodate me through a weekend of this kinda camping!

We've been hoping to find a secluded lake in the Sierras to get into, and pitch camp.

I used to do quite a bit of back country nude hiking and back packing however now I prefer to take my RV out to the local nudist resort where I still do a fair bit of nude hiking. The best locations for nude hiking I found were always to and from hotsprings that were traditionally clothing optional. You just need to know the area first and get a feel for how the local users regard nudity. I never had a negative experience at a hotsprings, very melow crowd of course this was northern CA, OR and WA state.

This next year we plan to start opening up some trails through our property where we can hike. Unfortunately, we still can't guarrantee ourselves complete privacy because our trails will undoubtedly be used by the marijuana growers to reach their plants. That could be dangerous. So we don't know exactly what to do. If we open up trails it will be easier for us to get around in our broken terrain, so we could be a more active presence, and we could maybe invite a nonlanded club to come from time to time, if they do not mind primitive as opposed to resort accomodations. I confess, my significant other prefers the primitive, and I like it too, but don't dislike more oppulant surroundings from time to time! I love to hike and camp, but it is difficult for us to do now because our land is so wild, brushy, and filled with blackberries and greenbriers. OUCH.

mariarose didn't do any camping this year but quite a few nude day hikes, most trail were about five miles in length, had a few textile encounters but all went well. always searching books and internet for new trails in my area. would like to get back to camping maybe in 2010.
