Several secret nude beaches

Bob, you blew it. Oh well, you can always push Haulover at the folks at Apollo. Tell 'em that Haulover is much better, and that the have free food and drinks there.

Posted - 02/24/2014 : 02:19:44 AM Apparently, the government did not like all the that parking along Nevada State Route 28, and is not going to let it continue. I'm not sure when they'll ban parking. I'll post that info as soon as I get it, or someone else will. Not sure what the motivation was to prohibit parking on Route 28. As usual, government causes problems where more intelligent people would have let things be.
I suppose there might be one offset, and that is the Tahoe nude beaches might become more secret as it becomes nearly impossible to go to them.
As Thomas Jefferson said, "When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe." Jefferson was at odds with Hamilton, and I'm forever grateful to be aligned with Jefferson.
Have fun parking in New York City, Doc. Hehehe.

Posted - 02/10/2014 : 1:50:02 PM "Social pressures"? You mean like debtors' prisons and lynch mobs? 18th-Century America was all well and good ... if you were a rich white male. For everybody else, not so much. See Zinn's "Peoples' History of the United States" for a wildly Leftist but excruciatingly well-documented look at how the common folk were treated by The Man back in the day.
"All communities divide themselves into the few and the many. The first are the rich and well-born, the other the mass of the people. The voice of the people has been said to be the voice of God; and however generally this maxim has been quoted and believed, it is not true in fact. The people are turbulent and changing; they seldom judge or determine right. Give therefore to the first class a distinct permanent share in the government." -- Alexander Hamilton
As for NYC vs Wells ... de gustibus non est disputandum. If no state income tax and a legal whorehouse is one's idea of "freedom" I suppose Wells must seem one step shy of Heaven. Having been in both places, however, i'll just say I felt much freer in NYC and let it go at that. Good point about the parking, though! |

Posted - 02/09/2014 : 9:02:40 PM In the earlier days of America, when gov't was small and didn't have the money to regulate very much. I suppose social pressures we more felt than laws. There were many places you could do your own thing back in the early days of the USA. Build a house - no building codes to deal with. Start a nudist resort out in the boonies - no one would even know you existed. Smoke hemp - no problem. Park your wagon anywhere - no problem.
Unfortunately, when a population gets too big, freedom is lost. Think New York City versus Wells, Nevada.

Posted - 02/09/2014 : 2:27:02 PM So where and when, pray tell, did this land of "free men" exist? Did it have a name? |

I hadn't heard that about the Tahoe beaches. What a shame. Man, for this being a "free" country, things seem to be getting worse and worse. Why can't the authorities focus more on reducing the meth and heroin trade and less on nudists parking along the road?
A long time ago in a land far, far away, there once were free men.
In a free country, why is the meth and heroin trade any of the government's business? In a free country people could do what they want and the government would not be trying hard to send us to a hellhole prison for getting some sunshine or even destroying our own life with some stupid drugs. The government just needs to get off our backs and let the people be free.

Posted - 02/07/2014 : 04:02:58 AM Forgot to add in my last post - Ben Franklin said that three people can keep a secret, if two of them are dead. A bit morbid, but so true.

Posted - 02/07/2014 : 04:01:21 AM One of the Tahoe beaches I have been to is not too crowded. A neighboring nude beach gets more publicity and is closer to a highway.
Bad news for those nude beaches is that parking on the nearby state route will be banned, and that folks may have to take a bus from the jumping off point (to the nude beaches) to the designated parking lots. Don't know when that might take effect, though. Should definitely make things more inconvenient for the nudists.

Posted - 02/06/2014 : 11:59:44 AM Seems strange that most of those "secret" nude beaches are actually nude beaches that are frequented by a large number of people, nudists and non nudists. Black's is definitely not a secret and is publicized in many, many travel magazines. Secret Cove on Lake Tahoe is another that I've seen written about in travel mags as well. The strange part of all of this is the fact that so many beaches in Hawaii are well suited for nude use but ... there are only a few that are spoken of.
