Well, even before all the horror stories about the diseases and the trips re-routed from Caribbean to Newfoundland (w/o notice), I had never seen the appeal of the cruise business. The prospect of spending a week or so going from cabin to dining room to deck to cabin just leaves me blank. No beach, captive audience to the ship retaurant, gleeb. I know it is very popular with a lot of people, and the profit the cruise lines make is outstanding, but it must tickle a funny bone that I just don't have. We spent almost a week on a live-aboard dive boat some years ago; that was tolerable because we spent most of the waking hours in some of the best scuba surroundings on the planet. But the diving was the focus, not the boat itself.
Can someone explain to me the appeal of putting yourself on a little island for a week, with a 50% chance of contracting something communicable?

I was on the Crown Jewel nude cruise in 1993. It's the same appeal as spending a week at a high class nudist resort. You've a variety of restaurants from which to choose, every couple of days you've a new port to visit, there's dancing every night, a show every night. For those who don't want to be out in the sun, there are movies.
It's much more fun when you have a partner with you. I went alone (before I got married) and would have had more fun if I had been with my husband. Not sure I'd want to do it again, textile or not. Cheri

My wife and I are going on the Windjammers nude cruise in the Grenadines next October. It's on a relatively small (64 passengers max) sailing vessel, which seems to me more appealing than one of those mega-ships, plus it makes frequent stops in smaller, out-of-the-way places, so (hopefully) the daily routine (cabin to deck to dining hall) described by Old Hippie won't become too oppressive!

The wife and I are headed out next month on the Costa Mediterranea with 2100 other nudists. I originally felt like Old Hippie before we took our first cruise last year. I thought I would be bored five minutes from the dock but it just ain't so.
Sometimes I'd wander down to to the casino at 3:00 AM while the wife was sleeping soundly or we'd both take in an excellent show in the main lounge or listen to a band in one of the bars. There's just so much to do you can't get bored. Of course, I also enjoy doing absolutely nothing so it was great just sitting on our veranda watching the sea and reading a good book.
I recommend these cruises highly - as long as they are nude cruises. I can't imagine having to get dressed up to do one.

Talk to any travel agent or person who's been on a textile or nude cruise, they'll say the same thing......you'll either love it or hate it. We happen to love cruising. I love it more if we'd go on just nude cruises myself, but we'll even go on textile cruises but from now on, we will get a room with a veranda so we can lay out nude from time to time.
I think you ought to try something before you speak badly about it. If it's not your cup of tea, then that's fine but why bad mouth something without even trying it.
