From the AANR Bulletin, February 2008
Dues increase recommended by AANR board By Beverly Price Legislation Chair
At the November 2007 AANR Board Meeting, the Trustees approved two proposals to increase the AANR dues. Article XI, Paragraph A.2 of the AANR Bylaws states "The annual or one-time fees for all categories of membership in AANR shall be established by the members." Therefore the proposal to amend the Procedure Manual Section 2.02.08 (Dues) will be placed on the May ballot for member approval. As Procedure Manual changes, they require a simple majority for passage. If passed, they will increase the dues for Basic and Associate Membership by $5 per year per person and/or will increase the dues for Lifetime Membership by $200 per person. Any changes will become effective on October 1, 2008.
The text of the actual changes are as follows (with strike-thrus and underlines where changes are to be made):
Proposition 1: 2.02.08 Dues for memberships will be as follows: - Basic Membership,
$25 $30 annually per single or $42.50 $52.50 annually per couple/dual; - Associate Membership,
$25 $30 annually per single or $42.50 $52.50 annually per couple/dual; [See Section 3.04.08.d]; Proposition 2: 2.02.08 Dues for memberships will be as follows: - Life Membership,
$500 $700 onetime fee per person; - Elite Life Membership, an additional
$500 $700 onetime fee per person; [Total of $1,000 $1400 or an annual fee of $50 $70 annually per Life Member. A new forum will be added to the Message Boards in the Member Benefits section of www.aanr.com for members to post their views, either pro or con, regarding this proposition. Members are encouraged to participate fully in the referendum process and to make an informed vote during this year's balloting.

Yes, unfortunately the cost of everything is rising, fee's to visit clubs, gas to get there and the food one must eat. Is this increase well worth the benefits we enjoy, in my opinion i would have to say yes, the costs of running the organization are increasing and they can't get everything for free and volunteers. The costs of sending out the Bulletin and the salaries for admin. it isn't that they haven't tried to keep memberships low. Where we would be, without 75 years of the AANR, and the great accomplishments in all areas of public acceptance and goverment affairs, so we can enjoy the Freedom we take for granted. Does it ever get cheaper,I wish.

I agree. The increase is modest for the advocacy received.

This is a recommendation by the Board of Trustees and will have to be voted on by the membership for it to take effect. The $5 might be a modest increase to facilitate that which AANR does/accomplishes, however the total of $40 for a single and $72.50 for a couple (most regions) plus club membership can be the straw that prevents a number of people from joining or renewing. You can be assured that if/when AANR dues are increased, the regions (or some of them) will propose an increase as well. I do help folk out in Travelites allowing a few to pay out the dues (club and AANR and/or TNS). Cheri

I need to very clear about this so no one thinks I'm (we) are trying to flaunt our fortunate situation.
Both the Prof and I work and have good incomes. The increase is modest for us and we will pay it willingly.
There are some, though, that have paved the naturist trail before us and are living on limited incomes. Food, gas, utilties are all on the rise and what income they have may not be keeping up with inflation.
I'm wondering if...AANR would be willing to set up a separate fund so those of us that are able could donate a little more and it could be used to subsidize the increase in dues for those on fixed incomes?
An extra $5-$10 dollars from those that are able could help many, many people that are unable to afford the increase and may decide to forego renewing their membership.
Just a thought.

FireProf, You might make that recommendation to AANR. Give them a call and speak with Nanette in Membership or write a letter to the editor, Linda Berry.
Hugs, Cheri

The AANR is truely one great Organization and the members are fortunate and proud to belong. The membership has the option and vote to establish an increase in yearly dues,no one likes an increase.I,m sure its inevitable but not inexorable or dictated by a board that doesn't respect the membership. They are members too. My yearly membership as assoc. will rise to$91.50ca. 1. less trip to the casino or night at the movies, it'll be worth it.This aanr needs its members and many more need the AANR if you aren't please join soon and see why...

I just received my March AANR Bulletin today, and the article outlining the reasons for the proposed dues increase seems to show that they have done a lot to cut expenses, even eliminating one face-to-face trustees meeting. (Travel expenses are a large budget item for AANR). If the increase fails, we may see AANR cutting back on the Washington lobbyist and the PR firm. I suspect that the proposal will pass, since AANR now has direct member vote by mail ballot, and only a small percentage of the membership, who are really interested in the organization, will bother to vote.

go n nude, If you renew through a club, it is less expensive than. I do not know the exchange rate, but singles I offer through Travelites $55 and couples would be $75.50 US.
Let me know via email at cheridonna@prodigy.net Regards, Cheri
