This important message was passed along to us by Balto Bob. Please help this cause by writing in before it's too late.
-----Original Message----- From: conrad Sent: Friday, January 8, 2010 3:11 AM To: wnbr@lists.nakedwiki.org, WNBR-Coordinators@yahoogroups.com Subject: [Wnbr] Seattle Needs a little help
Thank you to everybody who has made the World Naked Bike Ride such an incredible and growing celebration around the world. A protest against car culture that is positive, celebratory and spreads smiles and happiness as well as a body positive image. With all the crisis in the world at this time, this event is becoming increasingly important.
The Southern Hemisphere ride is coming up soon. If you are a cyclists interested in organizing a ride, it is as simple as organizing a ride. Simply add the event to our wiki website, select a start location and invite the entire city to the celebration.
Even though the event has become accepted around the world, we now and again do have a few local officials that are somewhat disgruntled. The newly appointed Mayor of Seattle wants to cleanse his city of this celebration.
The following is an email I just received from the Seattle organizer.
Dear Friend,
Hope you are all having a Happy New Year! I'm so excited about what the new year may bring!
Sorry for the impersonal e-mail but I need your help!
As some of you may have heard recently I'm facing legal charges from the City of Seattle for non-sexualized painted and naked cycling during one of our recent events, World Naked Bike Ride 2009. I'm facing a possible $5000 fine and 365 days in jail for this. In addition to supporting our local push for clothing-optional beaches (SEE LINK BELOW) please send a POLITE e-mail to new Mayor Mike McGinn (who had NOTHING to do with my arrest BTW) to please reconsider charges being brought against me in light of Seattle's long standing (17+ year) tradition of seasonal, artistic, free spirited, family-friendly clothing-optional bike rides. Please send your POLITE concerns to the new Seattle Mayor at
http://seattle.gov/mayor/citizen_response.htm
Here is the link to both the WSB, KOMO and Seattle PI stories if you wish to help out with a supportive comment. http://westseattleblog.com/blog/?p=25925 http://www.komonews.com/news/local/80398782.html http://www.seattlepi.com/local/413725_naked31.html
To add insult to injury newly defeated outgoing City Attorney Thomas Carr had the order signed on Christmas Day! I've got only 11 days to prepare now!
Naked painted cycling hardly my activity in life and any jail or fine would be a massive disruption for me after a really difficult year for me in 2009. I'm also very involved in the local community gardening, raw food, permaculture + Sustainable Seattle (SCALLOPS) groups. Right now I'm working on Parks Levy Opportunity Fund Proposals and also fighting to install perennial edible gardens in Seattle's Parks. I've actually just been able to score a meeting with the Superintendent himself about this with a proposal for such a project at Green Lake Park. I'm also a member of the Jefferson Park Food Forest project and Picardo Farm Composting Toilet Committee and co-founder of the Gardens Everywhere Bike Parade which had a hugely successful launch last summer. In addition my first raw food event will be on Jan 25th, free to the public at 100 Dexter, I cannot miss it!
Thank you for your consideration, and please ALSO SUPPORT NUDE BEACHES IN SEATTLE with your vote below.
As many of you have heard, our new Mayor Mike McGinn is set to move in today to his new office. Let's make one more big push to deliver a message to him that will be firm and clear:
Seattle is one of the most body-positive city in the world + its time that Seattle finally gets some clothing-optional beaches!
Please vote (you can use up to *3* of your 10 allowed votes (each category gets 10 max votes)) at the Seattle Mayor's new website, Ideas for Seattle:

Leaving comments would also be very much appreciated!
Its very quick and easy to setup an account so you can vote! Description:
Set aside park beach areas for European-style, clothing-optional recreation (sunbathe + skinny dip)
The Greater Seattle Area has long hosted the world's most renowned, colorful, family-friendly and free-spirited clothing-optional cultural events and groups in the world including: The Fremont Solstice Cyclists (17 years), World Naked Bike Ride, Body Pride Ride, Seattle Free Beach Campaign, Gardens Everywhere Bike Parade, Seattle Critical mAss, Hemp Ride, Love Every Body, Seattle Swims rentals at Seattle Parks Department Aquatic Facilities, Sun Lovers Under Gray Skies (SLUGS), Magnuson Beach Bares, Friends of Denny Park, Friends of Secret Beach, Fraternity Snoqualmie, Bare Buns Fun Runs, Nudestock, Body Freedom Collaborative, and Naked Pumpkin Run. Additionally, a handful of shoreline park areas have seen quiet yet significant clothing-optional use for decades. In 2008, after a considerable grassroots public campaign by local skinny dippers, the Seattle Parks Board recommended that the Parks Department look into establishing designated and signed areas for clothing-optional use. Let's make it happen!
Thanks for taking a moment of your time and showing your support in this critical Seattle government transition time!
Very best,

Thanks Admin, Seattle had SEVERAL nude bike rides in 2009. Many know about the Summer Solstice festival but, they have a separate ride for WNBR and the Hemp festival as well. I WAS hoping to work out a visit to my daughter near there with one of the rides in 2010. Remeber, the NEW Mayor and City Attorney had nothing to do with this but, could help UNDO this.
