We received news that Hidden Beach Nudist Resort in Cancun, Mexico will be opening a new nudist resort in Jamaica. Karisma hotels announced it shortly after we returned from Hidden Beach on October 24, 2015.
Stay tuned.

Karisma already owns Azul Sensatori on Seven Mile Beach. Are they converting it to C/O, buying another property, or starting from scratch?

I believe they are building new from scratch. The press release said something about purchasing 100 acres for future development.

From what I gather Karisma hotels is planning on building several resorts in Jamaica over the next several years. Hidden Beach Resort would be one of them but where and when I do not know. Upscale-Nude is what I would expect. How they plan on keeping out the peddlers I am not sure but in Mexico they have it down to where there are no peddlers or gawkers. Hidden Beach is our favorite but the beach itself is lacking. If they could get a beach like the cove in Negril and partner it up with an HBR like resort that would be special.

You're right. The beach at Hidden Beach is indeed 'hidden'. I never did find it! HBR is walled off from El Dorado all the way down to the waterline and beyond. It will be a challenge to similarly 'privatize' a beach in Jamaica, but it would be great if they could manage to do it. I've never been a big fan of the hybrid 'nude side/prude side' approach of a lot of Caribbean resorts. Be one or the other! It would be hard to imagine a better beach than that at Club O, but a nude resort with a decent beach and more modern accommodations would get my attention.

The Prof and I just pulled the trigger on a short visit to HBR Mexico.
With our oldest grandchild approaching her senior year of HS, it's unclear how many more family vacations we will be able to all be together. Next summer's vacation to Cancun and the following year's family trip to Europe and then she's off to college and they start their own lives.
We decided to extend the front portion of the summer 2017 trip to include 3 nights at HBR Mexico and then meet up with the family in Cancun when they arrive a few days later. I'm excited to visit this place because I've always wanted to visit HBR but the Prof is always nervous and apprehensive about visiting new places and frankly ... she's not real comfortable in Mexico but she says ... "I'm ready to try this place you've talked so much about!"

It's very nice. Be sure to try the restaurants next door at El Dorado Suites. When you stay at HBR you can use any of the facilities at EDS. The restaurants are better and more diverse than what you get at HBR. IMHNO

Yup! But we're not there long ... doesn't mean you can't stay longer ... just not on my dime!
Thanks for the info. I'll undoubtedly bend your ear for more as it gets closer.

We got back from our third annual trip to Hidden Beach on Oct 22. It is always a great time. Karisma built a new El Dorado Sea Side Suites on the other side of HBR and renamed the old place Sensimar Seaside Suites. Nestled between both, HBR guests have full all-inclusive access to both resorts for restaurants, night clubs, shopping, beach activities, etc.,but their guests have not access to HBR. Both sides of the beach are fenced off and security makes sure there are no fence crossing from the other side. You can be seen naked on the beach if you and the others are close enough, but we don't care. The food is amazing as always, the drinks as well. We especially enjoy the entertainment and the naked & slightly naughty theme nights. We had 2 full size suitcases and 2 carry on bags just for our costumes. All our other things easily fit in one full size case, but we also spent 4 nights down the beach at another clothing optional resort, so 11 nights in all.
We will continue to make it our annual trip in October until a better full nude resort without any restrictions where we can be nude or when we can be nude comes along.

Isn't this thread supposed to be about the proposed HBR in Jamaica? HBR Mexico already has several threads going. But speaking of HBR Jamaica ...
I've been scanning the Interwebs periodically for news, but there isn't much. Karisma is developing a big chunk of property on the site of an old sugar plantation on the north shore of Jamaica, a couple of miles east of Runaway Bay. Their long-term plans are to build as many as ten biggish (350-600 rooms) resorts along a mile of beachfront. Currently Karisma is set to begin construction of the first three resorts in January 2017, but none of these appear to be HBR. The only map I've been able to find indicates that HBR is planned as a small (50 rooms) resort on a 4-acre parcel separated from the rest of the Karisma project by the Little River. (I guess that's one way to keep the gawkers away!) Given the vagaries of the tourism and construction industries in general, and the, um, leisurely pace of business in the Caribbean, it will likely be quite some time before their first three resorts open their doors. As for HBR, there is no hint of a starting date for construction, much less an opening date. Given its relatively tiny scale, i.e., only ~2% of the total rooms, I worry that HBR will be considered an afterthought by Karisma. By comparison, Karisma has planned a 350-room Nickelodeon-themed resort at the other end of their property. I suspect HBR Jamaica will not become a reality in my lifetime.
