i will be going to gunnison beach nj and this will be my first time at a nude beach. can anyone give me some tips on going, such as do i just find a spot on the beach and get naked, what if i get an erection is this inappropriate....etc. any help would be appriciated. thanks

Remember to bring sunscreen and apply it about 45 minutes before you expect to be at the beach or even an hr. and re-apply regularly. Bring 2 towels, a book or magazine, a beach towel or blanket or chair. Water or other soft drinks and maybe a snack. You probably should wear some sort of sandal as the sand can and does get hot. You might also want to wear a cap or sun hat.
Erections are covered in detail in other parts of this forum and we try to keep the boards organized. If you want to persue this and get other opinions, PLEASE go and read those pages. This is the most asked question from those who are interested in trying nudism for themselves. Anticipation is expected when you try something for the first time, be it driving a new car, skydiving, or going to a nude beach or nudist club/resort. The anticipation, apprehension (medically speaking) usually prevents an erection from occurring. However, since bare etiquette demands one sit on his or her own towel, should an erection occur, just cover up or roll over on your stomach since you don't want to offend anyone.
In my 30+ years of being a nudist and visiting more than 55 clubs, camps, and resorts plus a few beaches, I've only witnessed it twice: once when someone was sleeping and the second time the fellow was asked to coverup or leave.
I know it's a normal function, but it can and does offend some folk. IMHO (in my humble opinion), I know it's normal, but for the sake of the people who might be offended, cover up.

Hey DT - We'll be there saturday - and have been many times...recommend you get there by 9 a.m. to park in the lot closest to the beach (Lot G)which is already quite a hike or you'll be parking the next lot down (wear your hiking shoes lol). Cheri's right about everything you'll need - Also recommend you finding a spot nearer the entrance end of the beach unless you're gay in which case they tend to gather at the further end from the entrance. There is a snack stand on busy days with drinks and hot dogs, etc., but it's pricey. Also, there are no garbage cans so plan to carry out whatever you bring in and no glass containers are allowed. Hope you enjoy your day!
