What is the deal, with older people only being the majority of a nudist society? Is nudism dying out? Not that I don't like older people, it's just that, I have never seen more than 4 young nudists at a nudist club scene, and they were like 10 and 12 years old. I had a friend who pretty much got hung for having an erection. They kicked him out, and he was just sitting by the hotub, minding his own business. I'm not trying to touch base on the erection issue, but that's an example of why young nudists aren't involved. They are treated with such hatefullness, that they don't wanna return ,and they tell others about their experience, and they don't wanna even try. It's either that, or most nudist venues seem to be more like old homes when the young arrive. They don't have much to do, unless they play basketball with grandma and her oxygen tank. What young girl or guy, wants to do that? Plus they can't relate to older people, because they came from a different decade than this Post Madonna generation of todays youth. Sorry to say but nudism looks like it's headed for the six foot chamber unless more young nudists come along. So as a young man, I would like to get more young people involved, and possibly start a nudist organization for young nudists. However, I don't think AANR would recognize it, because they want every club to be family oriented, so that's not gonna work. Any ideas? Lets get some YOUNG opinions please.

I completely agree... nudism does seem to be more of an 'older person' recreation than it used to be. In looking at older nudist photos you see people in their 30's or 40's ACTIVELY moving around, playing games, swimming, and having fun. Nowadays when you go to a nudist resort you typically find older people floating on rafts in the pool... sometimes to the point that those who want to swim literally have no room to do so. We need to have more ACTIVITIES for younger nudists, activities which are active and engaging. As a 28 year old, I don't sit around well. I have no patience for sun-bathing or floating in a pool. I'd much rather swim laps, play water volleyball, engage in tennis or volleyball games, maybe get in a little croquet, hike, etc. Too often these events aren't offered or participated in because the clientele is long in years and short in activity. We as nudists need to get more young people involved!

Shane It's not that I don't like the older folks company, it's just that sometimes it's hard to relate to them, because of the generation differences. It's hard to relate when you don't share the same timeline, or beliefs. I didn't grow up in the 30's and I didn't live in the depression, and I don't save canned goods, or peel green beans. So whenever I have to talk to those people, I am lost. Some of the stories are cool, but as far as having an older person understand where I'm coming from. Let me give an example. I went to a nudist resort some time ago, and they had a kaeroke night. I wanted to sing songs from Matchbox 20, but all they had were songs from the 1940' and 50's. I don't know those songs, and don't care about singing them, and why would any other young adult who grew up when Madonna was singing "Like a Virgin".

i agree, thats why i started the nekkid monday band.check it out. its nude music for nude people. we wrote it as young folks ourselves so i guess its is somewhat targeted to a younger listener but its not one way or the other so far that older and younger folks can still relate to it all. enjoy !

Shane, heres an idea, why not go mainstream? No Doubt performs naked, all except Gwen Stephani, and there are other bands that perform naked. Have you ever considered signing a contract for a major recording company? However no offense to your band, but a major recording company might wanna change your name, to something more catchy. Like just plain Monday, or Nekkid Moss, or some off the wall name like that. Think Silverchair, or Greenday. How about Disrobed...just a thought...You could make it big, and influence a younger crowd to become nudists, and then you will have started a revolution.

i am over 50, but i welcome young ideas, and people with lots of energy. It is you who will help preserve and expand the lifestyle.
Plus I like being competition. not ready for the horseshoe pit and talking about the old days, cuz the prospects for the future are more exciting.
so young people, i for one will support you, and wont tell you about the days except as a reference point.
what did Satchel Paige say/ "don't look back. Someone might be gaining on you"
go for it.

I'd like to see more age diversity myself. It does seem a bit lop-sided. But what is young? I'm not old but a lot of people your age think I am. My 13 year old thinks my 18 year old is. It's all relative. And what are we to do to recruit younger people? We can't make them come. It probably isn't easy for older folks to plan activities for people of younger age groups. The way I see it, they should come and bring their friends and make their own fun. If they are with familiar company, they will feel more comfortable and start their own fun. I think then the few will become more, and more will become many.

There is a big age gap, and the more mature clientel to tend to be "clickish" at certain clubs. I think that is why most singles, and young couples go to the nude beaches. A lot of the retired nudists have more time on their hands so you see them more often at the clubs, plus they are more financially well off. Hubby and I are in a late 30's so we are kinda in the middle. The kids feel more comfortable when there are more kids their age at the club. Young people just starting out do not always have the time and money to join a club. Giving discounts to young couples and having special events like mothers day out, and competing games and get togethers between clubs would help. If the clubs just cater to the more mature generation, I think you will see a decline in the membership of the younger generation.

Thank you Kimberly...That's what I was trying to say all along...not that I dislike older people....that's not the case at all. I just feel there should be more young nudists to keep the nudist flame alive, that's all.

I think part of the reason you see more young people at nude beaches than at a resort is that they are less inclined to be joiners. I mean anyone can go to a nude beach less organised perhaps a little less intimidating, I could be wrong.
I do know that there are simply more young people at the beaches than at the clubs, just a fact. I often see groups of young people together there. They may be just friends but they may also be part of a non-landed club that goes to the beach. I would say either make some friends at the beach or bring some with it can be rather fun.
Just in the last month or so I have seen a lot more young poeople at San Onofre beach many of them sporting tan lines so maybe this is a good sign.

I think young people are more inclined to go to a resort or club where there are more of the opposite sex, unless they bring a significant other. The only problem with bringing a significant other is that 75% of the young adults in the United States are either divorced, or are single. Maybe it has something to do with the economy, or the war...it's hard to say. Due to this fact most of the young adults are more inclined to visit clubs where they are hopeful of meeting a significant other. This would mean that the club would have to offer activities that cater to both the young and the old. So offering activities that get both girls and guys involved, such as a screw party. (no it's not what your thinking) a screw party is a party in which the males of the party are to recieve a screw as soon as they walk in. The females are to recieve a nut. Which ever screw fits the nut, that is their date for the rest of the evening. It's all about social interaction, and that's what young adults mostly want, unless they just don't believe in social interaction. A dance is fun, but what about the wall flowers who sit around and watch? I don't think anyone could say they are having fun. So why not get everyone together in a game that requires both male and female?

Hello all, First off this is a GREAT forum! I've been lurking for a while and I finally decided to register and post here. This subject is very near and dear to my heart. My wife and I, 24 and 25 respectively, are devout nudists. This past weekend we finally found a resort that we want to join. The only problem I see is the severe lack of people our age at the resort. There were people younger than us (i.e. 10-17) and of course those who are older than us (38 and up). The big problem is that the younger ones pretty much stick together or hang out with their parents and seem uninterested in socializing with people in their twenties. The older group seem friendly enough, but they aren't interested in socializing with younger people when there are so many more people their own age around that they really do have more in common with. The worst part of it is feeling left out, it's fun to be at a resort, but it would be more fun with friends.
Now IMHO it's OUR responsibility as young nudists/naturists to introduce more of our generation to the joy of being naked. Personally i've been working on a couple friends of mine for about 4 years now! They seem interested but non-commital, I send them informative information about naturism all the time... but i think it's time to broaden my horizons...
Let's get some suggestions on what we can do to get more of our generation interested, or what prompted you to become a nudist? Can't wait to hear all of your input!

Brad,
I think you're on to something there. Your point is kind of what I was eluding to in my post. If you want people to hang out with, the best ones are your friends. Get them involved and your numbers will grow naturally. And like I said before, I would welcome more age diversity. If we old(er) folks try to enlist the younger, they seem to think we're wierdos or something. I think you are a rare and fine young lad to be willing to suggest taking resposibility for making things better for yourself. (Jeeese, I hope that didn't sound olde!) Too many people (of all ages and types) would rather blame someone else and say "Nobody will play with me. It's your responsibility to entertain me."

welcome to the forum. glad to have you here.
a point i have brought up which might help is thatif the women agree to go to a resort, you will have a better chance to get a group together.
if your wife could convince some of her friends to go on a weekday when things arent so hectic, just to get a feel on how great it is, you might have more success. (like girls' night out type of thing).
anither reason might be finances. a lt of couples are just starting out with children, career, new house and there might be a worry about expenses.
some clubs/resorts are trying to accomodate through various incentives. check that out.
or join a travel club (talk to Cheri) so you couls get an idea of whichclub/resorts fits your pocketbook and offers the type of activities you want for couples and coulpes with children. and look at all the new friends you will meet as well.
good luck.

Thanks Randy and Calmnude,
Just so you know, I also run my own nudist yahoo group (link in my profile) for my local area, unfortunatly it seems to have fallen to the "lifestylers" in my area (not what I had intended!) Unfortunatly I didn't make my intentions in the group clear from the begining and now I need to figure out how to shift the theme of the group back to the Family Oriented theme. The biggest problem is that here in Michigan there are two major Adult, "Lifestyle" resorts. I have attended both, my reason was that they were Adult over 18 only not that they were for swingers. I had thought that it would be "weird" to have kids around. This past weekend I went to Turtle Lake Resort (link in my profile) and discovered how mistaken I was! The family atmosphere was SO much more comfortable than the vauge unease I felt at the adult resorts.
On a different note, getting friends to go isn't as easy as it sounds. Like I said, I've been working on two of our friends for 4 years now with little luck. They will come to our house and hang out naked but when going to a resort comes up He is just not into it, although she is pretty interested but won't go without him. Last year I finally got up the nerve to tell my best friend that I was a nudist. I arranged a visit at a club and got him halfway out there but unfortunatly another friend insisted on tagging along. I'm sure it was mostly nerves but they got going back and forth between them and were acting so immature that I turned around and didn't bother taking them out there. I was quite dissapointed in their behavior but I probably shouldn't have taken them out together (you know how guys can get!) And I've asked my friend if he would try it again and he SAYS "sure, sometime" and then makes sure he's "busy" anytime I suggest it. I'm pretty sure he would enjoy it if he'd try it, but it's just getting him to try it is the problem.
I work with all my other friends, and I have a management role at work and it could be considered (by some) to be sexual harrasment to discuss that kind of thing at work. I know it's not, but I enjoy my job and I'm not willing to take that risk, whatever the reward.
Okay, I've talked enough. I'll listen now.
