Just got back from our first nude cruise on the Carnival Legend and the report is: Great! We had a ball amongst 2100 other nudists and almost as many crew.
We even converted the Cruise Director who went nude at the final show of the cruise (along with most of the orchestra). Says he's booking his own nude trip through Bare Necessities soon.
The only disappointment of the entire trip was a shore excursion to a so-called nude beach on St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands. This was arranged by Carnival and they took us to a beach designed for about 60 clandestine skinnydippers. They didn't count on it being the most popular excursion of the trip with almost 500 of us showing up (go figure, a bunch of nudists wanting to go to a clothing-optional beach). Well it turns out the beach, being in the U.S. where everyone is hysterical about nude humans was definitely not nude and, in fact, according the very polite National Park Service official who responded to the call, the entire U.S. Virgin Islands is off-limits to nudity. So the moral is, go to Europe if you are looking for enlightenment. Carnival was very nice and sent us all an apology in writing the next day and refunded our money. This is a class cruise line folks - they just need a little more experience dealing with us naked folk.
We did an impromptu survey of crew from room stewards to wait staff and to a person they agree that the nudists are the warmest, best behaved and most fun of all the groups they've ever hosted and they've hosted a bunch on their 22 ships.
If you get a chance, I recommend a clothing-optional cruise.

Veal, I was told that Evan Bell became ill and was flown out for hospitalization. The final diagnosis is double pneumonia. For those who don't know, Evan & Polly Bell are the founders of Bell Acres (nudist park) in Mayesville, GA.
Did you ever meet Roy Luke who takes the Bare Necessities Cruise annually? He's been a Travelites member for a bunch of years.
Hugs, Cheri

Sorry to hear about Mr. Bell, hope he is doing better.
Vealj, sounds like you had a great time. We are looking into a nude cruise and are lining up a small group of nudist friends to go. Not sure when but we are laying the ground work for this to happen in the next few years.
Hope you're able to go on one Cheri, would love to meet you and more of the Travelites in person.

FireProf, I went on the Crown Jewel in '93. It was okay. Guess with Allen along, it would be better. :)
Right now, I'm saving my pennies to drive down to - - in August.
One day it would be fantabulous to meet you in person.
Hugs, Cheri

If anyone was flown out it had to be from an island stop. There were no dramatic recues at sea that I know about although I slept like a rock at night. I myself wound up in the ship's infirmary the second night out with gastro-enteritus but they pumped me full of good drugs via IV and I was good to go by the third day although I gave Leanna a bit of a scare.
We didn't meet Roy Luke that I know of but then I was surprised that we didn't know anyone on the ship. Out of 2100 or so nudists you'd think I'd know someone. There were maybe 5 couples from Texas and we met most of them. We also met a couple who are currently members of the nudist club where Leanna and I met 30 years ago in Indiana.

Now that would be a capital idea to get a bunch of us from the online boards together on a nude cruise. I'd like to meet all the people I've chatted with over the years and miles.
Talk about a specialty cruise, it could be a nude cruise for computer geeks with Internet connections and all. Actually they had Internet on the ship but since I do that for a living there was no way I was going near a computer on board. Instead I was officially in charge of testing the rum punch at all the on board bars and watering holes. I can attest they were up to snuff.

We definately love cruising. My wife is warming up to the idea of a large nude cruise. We should keep talking about it and who knows....in the future we could all be booked on the same cruise together........
I'll take a large suitcase so I can smuggle Cheri and Allen on with us!
Cheri,
I think you'll really like - -. Have you been there before? We had a great time. We'd like to go back but would like to go with a group of friends next time.
When are you planning on visiting? Not that we'd be able to meet, got our annual trip to Club O in June and a wedding to put on in July. Our wallets are empty and the credit cards a worn out!

FireProf,
I've not as yet been to - -, this will be my first visit there. It will be August for AANR convention, tenting. I know it'll be VERY warm, but that is the only way I can afford to be there. Maybe a compassionate person will offer housing. :)
Hugs, Cheri

Cheri,
Don't forget the AANR East convention in July in Pennsylvania. I'm so looking forward to meeting you someday.

Walt, At this time, it looks VERY doubtful that I'll be able to attend the Eastern region's convention at SunnyRest even though I'm on the Gov't Affairs committee for Jimmy Corsentino.

Cheri,
That's too bad, I was looking forward to meeting you. Well, I know as always your club will be represented. Thank you for that. Say Hi to Jimmy for me.
