I always had a great time at Turtle Lake, I'm sure you will enjoy it there. Congratulations on your upcoming marriage.

I have been to only two nudist resorts in the Washington D.C.-Northern Virginia area. Avalon in WVA is very nice and the people there have been very friendly. Whitetail Park in Ivor, VA has a very nice facility, but I find it not as friendly. Does anyone know anything about Pen-Mar in Hancock, MD?

We have a few favorites so far. I think it's okay to have a few fav's because they are all alittle different:
Resorts:
Club Orient, St. Maarten Terra Cotta Inn.
Parks:
Glen Eden, So. Cal Jardin Del Sol, Marana, AZ
B & B:
Casa Tiene Vista, Sedona, CA.
There are many other nude places we've visited but these are our favorites so far.
We are trying to catch up to Cheri...her list of places she's visited is impressive!

We tried Terra Cotta Inn on FrieProf's recommendation. Everything was great, except we went in the middle of summer (Palm Springs) and it was way too hot! We'll go back, but when it's a little cooler. :)

I am writing a book on nudism. I want to mention the interesting features of specific landed clubs. What's unusual about your club or one that you've visited?

confiance, Will the book be about Hot Springs with other facilities as well? Some landed clubs are noted as non-landed until all the permits and land improvements are made. Will you be including these? One that comes to mind is Nevada Sun Rancho near Las Vegas.
Regards & good luck, Cheri

Yes, non-landed clubs will be included...even swimming holes. I don't expect to have an all-inclusive list in the book. But I do want to mention special features or activities of many clubs and other nudist properties. The book will be geared toward the novice and the experienced nudists. Itineraries for first timers, sports enthusiasts, sexually adventurous, family nudist vacation will be included.
Also, my 8 year old daughter is writing a children's book on nudism. We plan to promote the books together.
P.S. We are past members of Healthy Hides of Houston and Star Ranch. I served as P.R. Chair for SWSA for a couple of years. Now we live in Florida, and belong to - -.

Confiance, There is a pretty complete listing at www.cheef.com
Since you were active in the SWSA, you how that the clubs can start and stop at the drop of a hat. When you finally get the book published, what are the odds that the clubs mentioned will still be active?
I hate to be a nay-sayer, but that's the way it is. I've visited more than 55 clubs, resorts, parks, and beaches during the 37 years I've been a nudist.
Regards, Cheri

Excuse me but Duh. My Norton Internet Security is not allowing me to open any windows at: http://www.nudist-resorts.org/talk/register.asp?mode=DoIt
Have been a nudist since 1988 but am no longer a member of AANR or of a particular club.

I will offer that my favorite Nudist Resort is Cherokee Lodge at Crossville, TN. The owners there are truly amazing and honest people. The grounds are beautiful, peace prevails there.
Was once a member of Timberline Lodge, also on the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee. Timberline Lodge became much too commercial by inviting any and all to visit and we were seriously not into being exhibitionists for the drive by crowd. I realize that we all have had our initial introduction to nudism but it was not because we found an ad in the local newspaper. Nor were we seeking a "swinging" group.

I have only gone to Solair in Connecticut and Yorktown in Maine. I liked both.

That's the one thing that causes problems. I have difficulty deciding which of all the clubs/parks/beaches I've visited (more than 50 over 37 yrs.) are my favorites. LOL
TN: I have been to Cherokee, Timberline, and Rock Haven in TN. Cherokee is definitely nice. The only bad part is the HIKE between the main part of the park and the pool area plus the lack of air conditioning in restaurant. Danny & Donna (owners) are wonderful hosts.
Rock Haven is also very nice. The members and owners are super people.
I wouldn't go back to the other unless the current owners sold, and the new owners were to clean it up both in the physical sense and moral sense.
I have not been to Utopia personally and won't make any comments about that one.

In the past few years, we have been to some nice resorts, we love - - - , a real "gem". We also enjoy Terra Cotta, which is just the opposite of - - - . Cypress Cove is really great, we spent two weeks there last year, and the people could not have been nicer.
During the Summer living here in New England, we frequent Solair in the Conn area almost every weekend. The one thing we did find that it is quite "clicking"!
The lake is really nice, and the new clubhouse which is attached to the pool is a nice additon. I think one thing they should do is try to attract a younger crowd. Don't forget they are the future!!!
Now that Thanksgiving is over we will be traveling South, and I can't wait to have some warm weather, and hit the pool at Cypress Cove.

Cookie, I hope the weather is good for your stay at the Cove. It's often unpredictable.
We've still got some warm temps in the Carolinas for the Travelites to enjoy the outdoors and to visit Carolina Foothills, our favorite SC park. :) Cheri
