I am not a nudist but the idea is growing on me.
and before I make my choice I have several questions.
I would like know what it is about the life-style that you like the most. I mean, you can swim, ski, and play golf with clothes on and still have fun.

IMHO, we are all nudists; although some of us are private nudists. I assume you bathe or shower w/o clothes.
What appeals to me: I don't like sitting around in a sandy, soggy swimsuit. The air, water on me feels great without that suit or any constricting clothing. When sitting on my back deck or just indoors reading a book, I can feel the tension and anxiety of the day melting away. Nudists accept others for who they are with all the physical flaws and not for what we look like, own, or wear. Nudism is the great human equalizer. You don't know if anybody is a millionaire or company owner or a sanitation worker or a stay-at-home mom or grandmother.

What do you like the most? That is the question, right SunMan?
Although I feel more of a nudist dilettante compared to other responders to these forums, your question is one I have often thought of for purposes of convincing others that this choice has substance. I recall the initial feeling of absolute freedom, no barriers, nothing behind which to hide. There was a moment of feeling naughty somehow, as if sticking out a tongue toward a prude parental figure from the past.
Then you are hit by the honesty of it all. How equal all of us really are. How alike each of us is.
To be sure, in conversations and discussions on the various matters of interest in any group of people those who are imaginative, intelligent, humble, active and healthy will become known to you. But you realize that the simple fact that another is witty does not necessarily mean they are, say, a millionaire. Or a Nobel prize winning physicist. It just does not matter.
Is that good?

To me it has always been the greatest feeling of freedom and relaxation there is. Every time I come back from a visit to a nudist club or nude beach I feel totally relaxed. I've never been able to explain why either.
I think it is a combination of the nudity but also the interaction with other nudists, being able to see people as they are without pretense. Communicating with the person, not their "station" in life based on their tilte or uniform of clothing.
Oh yeah, and it's just plain kewl as my kids used to say.

I love the fact that i don't have to wear clothes. No more worring about what to wear, no wet swimsuit, no worring about how in or out of shape i am, no differences in social class, and no discrimination about your looks or race how new you are or even gender(of course that's not saying if your single or not then it varies by resort). I also find that everything seem more enjoyable when nude. Like for instance, water volleyball, hiking, darts, tennis, beach volleyball, ping pong, billards, and even household chores such as cleaning the bathroom, dusting, vaccuming, cooking(though you might need an apron for things that might pop on you that hurts other wise), and so on all seem to be much more enjoyable nude even though some are not the funnist things to do.
When i go to a nudist resort i am accepted for who i am not what i am or what i'm wearing. I am more relaxed and at peace with myself and nothing could bother me and everything is right with the world. It is the most incredible feeling of freedom you could ever experience. A Zen-like feeling that stays with me long after i leave the resort even after only one day. I always have a hard time puting clothes back on to leave  .
I hope that helps in your decision to become a nudist. I was in your place once and i would have to say that becoming a nudist was the best decision i ever made .

When I'm not wearing clothes, I feel more like a human being, rather than a human doing.
I guess it's just easier for me to simply exist when I shed the burden of clothes. When I am clothed, it usually means I'm working* or doing some such mundane bullsnot.
*= don't get me wrong, I love my job...but I don't take my work home, or anywhere else for that matter, with me!

Well, I enjoy the freedom. I feel more like myself nude than hiding behind clothing.
Nudism can open the soul. I've known a friend of my girlfriend's for 3+ years now and we havent really known much about each other. Recently she's taken an interest in the nudist lifestyle and has been coming over every once in a while for some clothing free time. In the last couple of months we've really gotten to know each other.
I feel more alive and in tune with the world when I can feel it with my body, the wind, rain, sun, etc.

Hey everybody!! I am not a nudist but i am EXTREMELY interested in it. it seems so free and everyone is so stress-free.. i am actually doing a speech on the pro-nudist life, without actually being one. I was recently diagnosed with HPV and it changed my life. I know now that being naked doesnt mean sex, in fact it shoudlnt even make people THINK of sex.. well anywho i would just like some more ideas on what to say in my speech about why nudist colonies are so awesome.. i would appreciate any and all help you can give.. :) thanks

chels, first they are not colonies, we won our freedom from england a long time ago.
Have you ever been outside alone with only nature to keep you company, feeling the wind and sun on your face, or the sounds of the day in your ears? walking bearfoot in the grass? or sitting by a mountain stream? The stresses of any day melt away and everything is all right for a while! this and more is what being nude means to me. peace and freedom from the world for a while, being myself, being nude with other nudist and enjoying the best company anyone would ever want!

I feel simply relaxed and very well when without clothes.
So I try to be au naturel as much as I can, both outdoors and indoors.
The first time ever I did it which was many years ago, I felt so so wonderful...it is undescribable.
Ever since I am hooked up this lifestyle.
Homework such as vacummcleaning and all those other chorus are much more fun without clothes :-). Working or just sitting in the garden drinking coffee or reading a book is a real pleasure when nude. Same is of course true for recration outdoors like swimming, walking or even driving the car.
Since fairly recently my 13 year old son lives with me and I hope he will eventually join me in this lifestyle.
He has no problems seeing me nude (as long is his friends do not pop in *L*) but for himself to be fully unclothed is yet still a step too big.
But with tact and with being sensitive towards his feelings, I try to win him as it were for this lifestyle and I definetely have the impression that - once convinced that being nude is wonderful - he one day will be a nudist.
In case not...I do love him regardless whatever he decides in life and am very very proud of him anyway.

Chels, The first thing you need to do is remove the word "colony" from your vocabulary in regard to nudist. We visit, live, and enjoy nudist parks, resorts, beaches, and clubs. Some of us even have a nudist lifestyle such as me and are nude when possible, clothed when practical.
Naturism or nudism is about accepting yourself and others for who you are and not for what you look like, own, or wear. It definitely builds self-esteem. It's about de-stressing, relaxation, and less laundry.
The body is just the vessel for the person.
Nudism is the great human equalizer with people of all ages, from infancy to over 70, communicating on the same level with no one judging others because of their ability or the lack of it to buy the latest fashion styles.
Nudism was rediscovered in Europe at the end of the 19th century when doctors prescribed sun and air baths as an antidote to the over-industrialization that was taking place. The original skinnydippers in the US were the Native American Indians who wore only breechcloths and moccasins to what was needed to protect them from their environments.
Nudism is different things to different people and nudists are as varied as the people around you. We are doctors, lawyers, business men and women, kitchen workers, state employees, mothers, fathers, teens, infants, grandparents, your friends, your neighbors.
To me it's like recharging my personal batteries as I sit on my private porch overlooking our property with my morning cup of coffee enjoying nature around me, the birds chirping, the plants and trees waving in the breezes.
When you disrobe, you shed aggression, tension, and anxiety.
You know how great it feels after a difficult day and you take off your shoes? That's how the rest of you feels when you disrobe. It has proven to even lower blood pressure.
Nudists generally have strong family ties and a lower divorce rate as well as a lower teenage pregnancy rate than that of the general public.
Nude when possible, clothed when practical definitely defines me.
I speak to Undergrad classes at East Carolina University each fall to sociology classes. That which I've written is basically what I talk about. You are welcome to include what I've written but please give me the credit even if only in a footnote.

One word - Freedom.
When I am nude, I feel free. Free from work, free from stress, free from the day to day grind, just plain free. It's me and my back yard. Looking out at the trees, watching the wind patterns on the trees, the birds flying around, squirrels running through the trees, and most of all, the sun.
Nobility is not a birthright, it is defined by one's actions.

Nudity,it's my most carefree state. Being nude is the ultimate in being yourself. There are not enough words in the language to decribe the feeling of truly being free !

To me the nudist lifestyle is the closest thing to Heaven you can get on this earth. After all it was God’s first plan for man, till we messed it up.
I’m not interested in the Streets of Gold, just give me the Garden and I’ll be happy.
