Top Ten Topless Beaches

In the spirit of a growing trend in clothing-free vacations, Forbes.com takes a look at some of the best topless beaches in the world.

Why topless and not nude? Call us old-fashioned, but we tend to favor topless beaches rather than nude ones. Nearly all European beaches are topless, and sunbathers there have a blasé attitude towards nudity, which means no gawking or cameras. Think of Cannes and most people will imagine bronzed models and starlets; think nude beach and the image is sagging baby boomers playing Frisbee. Unwritten rules of etiquette also exist at topless beaches, such as putting your top back on to stroll to the bar. And in terms of nude resorts, there is an underlying pressure to be naked all the time.

The beaches on the list are excellent beaches, regardless of whether bikini tops are de rigueur or not; the surf and sand on all of the beaches are top notch. The beaches also tend to be some of the glitziest in the world (such as Cannes and South Beach), which means that not only in addition to great hotels, cabana service, restaurants and nightclubs, the majority of the crowd is good-looking. Be sure to pack plenty of extra sunscreen if you go.

This article and slide show seems to be much more about good looking people and partying. I don't think that really fits into naturism.

Have a great day,

What doesn't fit exactly? Should we now ban good looking people from nudist accomodations? Who would be the judge of that? And what is wrong with people partying? I am one of those who likes to have fun, and have even been known to go to the occaisional party. I submit that if nudists continue to turn off young, attractive, single or politically rightist folks that we will never get out from under the crushing weight of the majority to establish a secure position in American society. If you are a naturist and disagree with nudists, I expect you could show a similar respect as nudists show to naturists.

I looked at the slide show. Where was the partying and all the good looking people? Looked like long distant pictures to me. Someone once said " beauty is in the eye of the beholder". And I do like parties with or without clothing.
