Not all of them require that Bob. I belong to a club and I am married however my wife isn't a member. She had to write a letter to that effect for the club but still I'm a member and she isn't it just depends on the club.

i presume you are in michigan, i would try to check the next closes resort and see if they accept single, most do nowdays or if you have a lady friend ask, nothing like experiencing things together, as for the double standard i look at it as being their resort and they make the rules but also lose on the revenue. also you might check with the non-land clubs and try to join them.

Thanks for the perspective, although it seems like I still don't have a solution.
I welcome any more input.

Married guy here, but wife doesn't approve of nudism. I love to be nude though, but seldom get the opportunity. On the rare times she's out of town with the kids, I lose my clothes as soon as I come in the door. I'd love to be able to visit a club sometime, too, but have heard that men aren't welcomed without a partner (male or female). I'm in Michigan here, too. Any suggestions. (And no, I'm not looking to hook up when my wife is away, just to be able to relax in the buff with like-minded people.)

Any suggestions on how to absolve this. And why do they bar single men but not single women?

Sorry about your Michigan problem. I've visited some nudist resorts in the southeast (VA, NC, SC, GA, FL) and all accepted me as a single male nudist. I tried 'advertising' for a female to visit nudist resorts with me but failed miserably. No female wanted me!!!!! Go here and call or email some of the venues: www.nudistparksusa.net about entrance requirements.

Best Wishes, Jim

swmichguy, have you ever been to Turtle Lake Resort? I checked their website, and did not see any rules excluding singles. I'm going to contact them and find out for myself.

Here is the text from a reply I recieved from Turtle Lake Resort:

Hello,

Turtle Lake Resort is one of the few AANR Resorts that is singles friendly, so yes, we do allow singles, both men and women; however we are tailor made for couples.

Please contact our Office at 1-866-321-4710 or 517 741-7004 for any further information you may need.

If you plan to visit our Resort you would need to come in during regular office hours so that you can receive a tour/orientation of our facility.

Thank you for your interest in Turtle Lake Resort,

TLR Management

TLR is also participating in the skinny-dip this Saturday. Should be a good day for a single guy to go.

Going to a resort alone can be a lonely experience unless you have a friend/spouse along with you.

Wow - same here. New to nudism, and wife doesn't approve either. When she & my daughter are gone, I'm nude. I live just outside Stevensville, and thinking about trying Oval beach. Any suggestions?

I just attended Show Me Acres this past weekend as a single male and was welcomed and felt good to be able to feel that way for my first time at a place for nudists. They were friendly and respectful. That's the kind of attitude one has to have to encounter new experiences.

I've been wanting to get to Show Me Acres for a while. They're only a few miles away from me. Problem, ther're only open on weekends, I'm off Monday and Tuesday, not to mention, I'm on the graveyard shift. Talk about "not having a life".

Jimmie, I wished I could help. Sometimes work is not favorable to our wants. We probably met. I frequent your employment. Since you work nights you could go for the morning time take a nap while you get a tan and just enjoy yourself. Then when done, head back to the grindstone.

I think this is one of the things I'm most worried about as well when I think about trying it out for the first time. I'm not interested in going to gawk or anything - I'm more just interested in lying in the shade and relaxing while reading a book, or going for a swim with the feeling of freedom. I'm hoping to keep away from that feeling of self-consciousness as a whole.

My wife recently died very unexpectly, so I no longer have anyone to go with to a resort. Last weekend, I went alone to Cypress Cove for the skinny dipping record. This was my first time to a resort alone. I was well received and made many new friends. I hope you would get the same reception.
