I spend most of my in-home hours without clothes and for the last 6 months or so have even ventured out to the hot tub in my backyard without trunks and only at night. It's pretty liberating I must say. But It's always in my mind that a snooping neighbor may see what I'm doing and call the sheriff dept for public lewdness or something stupid like that. Therefore I can never truly relax out there. Does anybody else out there have the same concerns? Any suggestions are welcome.

There are a couple of issues here. First, what your neighbor's attitudes are. Second, what the law says.

Obviously, you are free to do whatever you wish inside your own home.

You are in a difficult situation if neighbors who can see into your yard have minor children.

Regardless, a privacy screen will at least show intent not to cause an affront to your neighbors. This can be landscaping (a hedge) or a fence of appropriate height.

You should certainly investigate local and state laws regarding nudity on your own property that might be in public view. Most--but not all-- parts of the country nuance this issue by including verbiage regarding reasonable expectations not to offend an inadvertent viewer.

Generally you will not be allowed to answer the door nude (the FedEx person should not be expecting to see you without clothes) but you likely have the right to sunbathe nude in a backyard out of sight of the street and the neighbors. Again, check local ordinances.

Well due to her snooping, I put up a 6 foot privacy fence down that side of my property. but at times I have caught her looking over or around it, I guess, to see what I'm doing. She has called the law on me a number of times before the fence. They just come over and tell me what the supposed problem is and we chat about hunting or fishing or whatever and they leave. I would really hate for them to show up while I am in the tub because that nut was looking over the fence. Outside of completely building a room around the tub (which I am concidering but really don't want to because it will kill the breeze), I'm not sure what I can do about it.

There are no young minor children around and my neighbors on the other side is an older couple and their 17 year old grandson. They aren't snoopy and probably would not be surprized if they did just happen to see me getting in or out of the tub. However the Grandson comes over here from time to time to chat with me. I guess if he should come over during those times, I will just have to deal with it. As far as I know, they are not aware my guarded naturist ways either.

If you have a privacy fence, you should be more or less protected if she has to work to look around it or over it. After all, it is a privacy fence.

If she insists on looking, you could invite her over...;-)

Research the laws in your area. In my area if I am on my property and I have taken reasonable precautions such as putting up a privacy fence and I can not be readily seen from another property then I am well with in the law. In fact if I was being spied on I could file a complaint via the peeping tom laws. In my own backyard with the fence and the plants it is very difficult but not impossible to be seen that is good enough for me.

Other than the afore mentioned ideas, why not try out a resort? There are a few in the DFW area not too far away from you. I, like you, was never really able to relax in the back yard even with screens put up so there was no way anybody could see. A resort was the only way I could fully relax.

Funny you should mention that. I have to be in the DFW area this weekend and I'm considering taking some extra days and checking out WildWood. Have you been there TXvic?

I have been to Wildwood. It is a very nice place. Acutally, of the three on the Fort Worth side of the metroplex, it is my favorite. All 3 are nice and each kind of has it's own feel.

Yea I have the same problem well kinda not snoopy neighbors just my backyard is pritty open well not really. i have a 6ft privicy fence around my house but my house is a one story house and every1 around me has a 2 story house and they come pritty close to the fence so all they have 2 do is open the window and there i am.

and to make things worse my house is in kinda a ditch like it goes down so not only are the other houses higher because they are 2 story they are on higher ground anyway so its really easy for any of my neighbors to see me. So I dont go out side nude much because of this.

I have a tree line along my back property line. However, there are openings and it presents a problem for me as a backyard nudist. I have researched the various cultivars of bamboo, and just recently planted some along that tree line. I picked big leaf bamboo, which grows very thick and just 6-8 feet tall, and also rumbro-marginata which grows at least 30 feet tall, and tolerates some shade. So you might consider bamboo for a screen. yes, it is invasive but so are the 2-story homes!
