has anyone been to Grand Lido, Negril?
My wife and I are still researching nudist spots in the Carribean, and just don't know what's good.
What we are looking for:
* all inclusive * white sand * clear water * relaxing atmosphere * respectful people * freedom to walk about nude nearly everywhere (restaurants excluded, of course) * lots of sunshine
Any other high-recommendations that can accomplish these goals would be appreciated.

I was just there again 2 weeks ago. Beautiful property with great food and excellent service.
If you book a Beachfront Cove Suite, you will have a room on the nude beach. The beach is very nice and has perfect water nearly on top of a reef. The nude beach also has a pool, hot tub and bar with beach grill. It's almost totally self sufficient. You can be nude there all day with the exception of dining in the restaurants on the main side of the property. This beach is actually clothing optional, not all will be nude but the majority are.
Grand Lido Braco is also another good choice. It has a dedicated nude side. The nude side is nude ONLY, nobody there testing the waters. There are 3 categories of Beachfront suites located here, an immense lagoon pool, swim up pool bar, grill and hot tub. It also has a larger beach than Negril although Negril's waters are much more calm. There is a nude clubhouse on this side for 24 hour room service and 24 hour drinks and take out food as well. The clubhouse has a pool table, tv, ping pong, board games, etc. There's a bit more offered for the nude vacationer here than Negril but both are top notch. Braco is also a little bit cheaper than Negril as far as total cost goes.
I have a hard time deciding which to go to most times. The food, service, nude facilities and rooms are top notch at both.

Thanks for the answers.
So, are both of these All-Inclusive? We can just eat and drink whenever we want?
Also, my wife made a comment about, presumably Orient Beach and how what we call Lookie-Loos can wander on to the beach.
We don't like that.
If we're going to be relaxed we want to be with completely like-minded people, and not be having to look over our shoulders to see if there is a group of clothed men gawking.
So... Does negril or Braco have areas that are otherwise very difficult to get into? Or do the nude beaches just blend into clothed beaches? Can you describe the "borders" for us?
Thanks. Also, if you can upload any scenery images that are not of a personal nature or show people who do not want to be shown, we'd love to see what either negril or Braco look like from the perspective of a guest as opposed to a promotional photgrapher.

got an e-mail the other day about all-inclusive at tuluum in the yucutan. small, allegedly gawker free, and far anough away from the hooligans of cancun. workmate and husband went there for honeymoon and said it was wonderful and quiet.

Paint,
Yes, both are 100% all inclusive. Eat, drink and play 24/7 with absolutely no tipping, ever.
I myself am not fond of O-beach at all. First of all the lookie loos, 2nd, it reminds me of Daytona Beach as it can be so busy. I prefer beaches that are less used, but that's just me.
Negril's beach is marked "nude" and basically, nobody that isn't trying nudism ventures over. Although there is a dock about 200 yards away that occasionally a guest of the hotel will wander onto to take a peek at the nude beach. But as I said before, the majority are nude, those that aren't are easing their way into it and not gawking. Some women are topless, while their scared boyfriends or husbands work up the nerve to do it, but for the most part, most guests are nude. It's a totally cool scene, no problems.
Braco is more secluded. The village is nude only and everyone using the facilities on that side are usually nude unless walking to the main part of the resort for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The nude area is totally secluded via bushes/trees from the rest of the resort and signs mark it well with only one entrance to the nude side. The beach itself is even well hidden from the main beach. I like how Braco has staff on the nude side organizing games (body painting, volleyball, etc) at times or setting up nude snorkel trips. Negril doesn't do this as it's a bit of a "quieter" property. The rose milk misting for tanning is a nice touch also at Braco.
You can go to either one and not have to look over your shoulder, trust me. They are top notch properties that bend over backwards for their clientelle, both nude and clothed.
I apologize, I don't have photos of the nude side of the properties as I never carry a camera to the nude beaches (no where to put it! j/k). My site www.gosunrise.com has approved pics and there are commercial pics at SuperClubs official site: www.SuperClubs.com

Wow. thanks for all the helpful info.
Here's an image of Braco

Am I to understand that the nude area is "separate" as "divided" by this peninsula thingie? Is the nude area that one-third on the right? Or is Everything nude there?

#5, essentially the entire third of the property on the right is nude.
If you look closely, there's a circular walkway halfway between the main resort (#10,12)and the nude area. There is a sign and security guard there to keep them seperate. Everything to the right of that roundabout is nude.
The beach in front of number 10 and 12 is rarely used at all, so there's no problems with the clothed beach and nude beach merging. The clothed people stay far left near the water sports and pool/bars. Notice there aren't any chairs on that section of beach.
The 2 room blocks you see at #5 are the Au Natural Suites. There is more "nude beach" to the right that you can't see in the photo.

Most of this thread is VERY old ...We were at grand Lido Braco in December of 2008 and quite liked the place . My wife liked the 'Be Nude or Be Gone' policy on the Au Natural side of the resort and all the comments re; food, staff, safe, secluded, seen in the older posts are still correct. There were some signs that declining guest numbers from the recession were starting to hurt the place but it was alive and well and good value for the $$ as of Dec. We STAYED on the somewhat less expensive 'prude side' but spent all our beach and sun time over on the Au natural side ... Our only complaint was that the beach and the bottom of the swimming area off the beach were too stony and you had to tread carefully ... a wild exuberant race to the water would likely have netted us a visit to the infirmary !!

Keep in mind that the Lido's are being re-branded to Breezes on 11/1/09 and some changes will be happening at each Lido (and each resort will have it own adaptations to the Breezes brand)...so if considering them for a trip after that date, make sure you are up to speed on what the changes will be at the resort you are looking to visit.

Braco is one of the nicer AI resorts in the Superclubs chain. As part of the rebranding to Breezes, they have recently announced a $100 per couple per day surcharge to use their nude beach. As with all Jamaican policies, this may change before 11/1.
Lido Negril has not announced this surcharge. It is a nice facility but, I'm told, very quiet in the evening with no night life. Most guests seem to order supper from room service and retire by 8:00.
As far as avoiding gawkers, Jamaican law says that the beaches are public up to the high tide line so a few people will be walking quickly through. The only thing that has annoyed us is when they stop to hawk t-shirts, crafts, or pharmaceuticals.
We have found that the best Jamaica travel website is www.DennyP.com where you can find detailed trip reports for many Caribbean resorts. He leans most heavily toward the Hedonism resorts but has good information on most others and he is personally very helpful with advice and purchase of travel at the best prices.

We have been to Braco twice. The resort is in the middle of nowhere so there are no gawkers or hawkers!

So ... has anyone been to Braco since it morphed into Breezes Rio Bueno? We'd love a Trip Report!

We were at Breezes Negril during the recent tropical storm. The left side of the nude beach was seriously eroded although we are told it will come back. The area right in front of the pool and to the right is still ok. This is a wonderful resort with excellent food, particularly the French restaurant but it requires long pants, no jeans, and nice shoes. The resort is showing it's age a little but the staff is wonderful. You MUST try the lamb chops served only at the c/o beach from 12:30 until about 3, they are to die for. The first thing my wife did when we arrived was head straight there for them. Snorkeling is very good right off the beach and to the left where other resorts bring their guests to snorkel off the point, though I did notice deterioration in the health of the coral this year. This was our second year and we plan to go back every year. It is a really good sign when you meet a couple who has been there 38 times before and another 28 times before. The prices are lower now. No fee to come to the nude beach like there is at Braco. Very little night life-need to go to nearby seven mile beach for that. Very nice guests who are very friendly on the c/o side. We saw a number of couples this year with whom we made friends last year. This is an excellent place to go both if you are a newbie or an old hand. Oh, by the way, Breezes has their own private lounge at the airport where you wait for your transport to your resort. Very nice relaxing touch as opposed to looking around trying to find the right transport to another resort.
