It was the best Labor Day Weekend I have ever spent in the Carolinas. The weather was perfect, occasionally hazy, but otherwise clear and bright.
We arrived late afternoon Saturday, leaving with a power outage hoping that it would be back on shortly. We called the electric company and kept our fingers crossed. There were 17 Travelites in attendance this weekend, mostly on Saturday from the Low Country and Macon, GA area to the Carolina upstate and the Columbia, SC area. It was super seeing some who had not been to any of our gatherings for a while.
At 6pm, the trays of succulent pork were laid out plus several side dishes (corn, baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad) and dessert (banana pudding and chocolate pudding).
At 9pm, the dance started...lots of fun tunes and fun people. It was super visiting with old friends and meeting online friends in person. I did get to dance a couple even with a hurt knee.
Sunday was a day to relax and enjoy visiting with friends. At 3pm, the annual auction began. They are just about at their goal to erect a bath house in the area of the rental cabins.
We were pleasantly surprised...the cabin in which we usually stay now has a nice size refrigerator (good-bye ice bags) and new vertical blinds in case we want to sleep till 8:30. The furniture had be rearranged, and it looks great.
The entire park seems to be more spruced up more than at the last visit. Patrick and his wife are doing a splendid job.
Beverly Magrum is the new President and works for all of the club's members, not just a select few. She is the first female president in the history of the club. Husband Mark was originally going to be called the First Gentleman, but we all thought Prince Consort had a better ring to it.
Sunday, water volleyball called me. LOL - Allen & I were just going to toss the ball ourselves but soon others joined us. The last two games in which I played were winners for my team. The exercise must have helped my knee as it doesn't hurt now. :) That evening we had very scrumptious potluck supper on Sunday evening. From Bev's birthday cake, to the shrimp dish to the various fresh vegetables, pork, chicken, just plain Y-U-M-M-Y
At about 4:30 Monday, we decided we had better journey home and find out how our 4 cats dealt with stuff without us there and hopefully find the electric on. Well, the cats were fine, but the master breaker was off. The house was a bit warm, the cats went out (except for 4 month old), and it finally cooled down a bit. I'm glad I'm a nudist. :) We also have to buy more food. LOL
Hugs, Cheri
