hi cheri,
as per the details of the parks of hamilton i tried to contact the 4 seasons park and they refused to allow me to go there because i'm single and they are accepting couple and families. I feel that they would have accepted if a lady called them. why?. Do male nudist has to have a lady with them to be a nudist.

raj, that's a good question. Are you an AANR or TNS member? Some parks allow single men who are association members of a club. The way to go about asking should you be a member, is to call and say, "hello, my name is ...& I'm an AANR member through XYZ club. I would like to visit your club as it is closer. When may I?"

Cheri, since i'm new to nudism and i have never visited a nudist place before. I didn't know how to proceed. Could you please explain what is AANR or TNS members? And where can we get the membership from?

Raj, These are both national organizations with which clubs, parks, and resorts affiliate. Members are able to receive discounts on grounds fees. The TNS price is $50; student&senior memberships are $40 and you can find information at http://www.naturistsociety.com. Re: AANR, If you're between the ages of 18 & 15, there is a student membership that is only $12.50. Regular AANR membership is $50 through my club. Each has its own publication. AANR has a monthly newspaper & TNS has a quarterly magazine. Both grant scholarships. Both help fight for nudist venues. If you can afford it, belong to both.

Raj, I understand where you are coming from about being a single male nudist. I have been to clubs that do not allow single male nudists, I believe its bacause they feel the single guys will "hit" on the women. It is a form of discrimination, and I do not agree with it. Everyone should be allowed to join the club, male or female, young or old, married or single. Club owners should just enforce the rules, if someone causes problems they are banned from the club.
I totally agree with Cheri, you need to state up front that you are a AANR and TSN member, that will get your foot in the door. Clubs tend to honor the AANR and TNS membership. We have bought student memberships for our two oldest kids, as they will be having the same problem when they leave home.

Seriously, there are clubs out there that dont allow single men?
I am a divorced, single, full time father of a little girl and have a girlfriend, but since my marriage failed does that mean I'm a bad person and should not be allowed in some resorts?
Wow, you hear about how free and accepting everyone is in nudism, but how is that possible with this kind of descrimination?

some clubs don't allow single male in, because they might hit on the women, but this is grouping all single males into one class of disrespectful men who would do such a thing. this is unfair to the rest of us who really enjoy being nude. if a male guest gits out of line with someone ban them , not all males! it's a matter of the respect of other people. Being older,54 this year, I have learned to honor other people and their rights.

Many clubs do not restrict the single men. From what I've heard over the years, it's the married men who want the numbers controlled.
My club (Travelites) has a number of singles who are welcomed at all the parks they want to visit. As a club owner/manager, I call ahead for them.

I understand, its just hard to swallow when people get generalized. It just seems like it would be a better solution to base the decision of who stays and goes on the individual.

One of the attractions of nudist activities (resorts + beaches) is that that tends to be a broader spectrum of people, more acceptance of people and less narrow mindedness. I think it is wrong to categorize people (eg single male) and ban them. I would not want to be part of a club that did this or controlled the members to an exact 50:50 ratio. What about gays/lesbians? How could everyone be included if we have to abide by discriminatory rules?
Each person should be judged on what he/she does and nothing else.
I would choose a club that is more accepting. You will probably have a better time there.

I'm going to Florida from Oct 30 to December 18. I go several times a year to vacation in Florida, and I always spend several days in Miami so I can waste whole days at Haulover. They can't keep me out of there! But this time, I'd also like to try staying at Sunnier Palms in Port St. Lucie. I've never done any of the "socializing" yet by staying at a C/O resort, partly because I just love the beach and the ocean so much, and partly because here in Minneapolis, the club discriminates against me… }:-P the rats. I hope to stay (if possible), in the middle of the week, when I think that it will be less busy to ease myself into this new experience. I plan to give them a call tomorrow. Anyone had any experience with them? Do you think they will give me a hard time?
Also, do any of these places have singles parties or anything like that where a gentleman might have to opportunity to meet a lady who is a nudist, or vice-versa? It does seem rather difficult to meet people out in the world, when you have to add nudism to your list of hobbies. It’s not usually the first thing on the list that one discusses with a possible love interest, and it can come as a shock to some, if not many.

Sunnier Palms is a nice, non-pretentious nudist park. They are single friendly all week long. Sno-Birds in MN is single friendly; I have two acquaintances who are single and are members there.

I've known the owners of www.thefourseasons.com for about 25 years, and yes, they discrimiate against single men, but I've never been turned down. I've been a member of Lilly Valley, Sun Valley Gardens and FCN, over the years, but I'm married to a non-nudist lady so I visit clubs/resorts as a single male.
Contact me, and I'll introduce you to Skippy of the Toronto Chapter of the Ontario Roaming Bares, a non-landed club based in Toronto. As a Roaming Bares member, you'd be able to join them in their club/resort visits.

I just got back from a trip to Miami. Before I left for Florida, I called Sunnier Palms in Port St. Lucie and the lady was very nice. I told her my situation, and she told me I was welcome. She said "We don't discriminate." I had planned to stop and spend the last two days of my vacation there before the drive home, but with the mis-fortune of having to make a major car repair and the good fortune of meeting a wonderful lady, I never made it. But it's nice to know about a singles-friendly place in Florida where I can stay next time. Who knows, next time (soon), maybe I'll have a date to bring. :D

I don't necessarily think that Naturist resorts ban single males for the fear of them "hitting on" women. I think its more to maintain a balance of the sexes. Would men, let alone women be inclined to visit a club that was 100% male... I doubt it.
Additionally, too often I think single men complain about not being welcome in clubs and resorts, but do absolutely nothing about it. I'm a single male and always to try to finds friends to join me at the beach. Sometimes people come along other times they don't. If very nudist male and female found a friend to come along, we'd double our numbers in a very short period of time... My advice is to stop complaining and start working on promoting the lifestyle to others.
Saying that, what exactly is the definition of a family? I'm sure "Bare in the Desert" would consider himself and his daughter as a family. Would two brothers be considered a "family", or what about a homosexual person and their partner?
