WASHINGTON - A man was taken into custody and later hospitalized for a mental evaluation after he took off his clothes and began a jog a few blocks from the White House.
The man was seen taking off his clothes Wednesday evening around 5 p.m. He left the clothes near the northeast corner of the Ellipse, the green space south of the White House.
Secret Service spokesman Darrin Blackford says the run lasted less than a minute before the man was apprehended. The president was at home at the time. But Blackford says the man, who left his clothing in a duffel bag, did not make any threats. His bag was declared suspicious, but its contents were found to be harmless.
Temperatures were around 35 degrees.
It wasn't clear if the jogger would face criminal charges.

I wonder if they strip-searched him. What possible national emergency could that have created? A nude person is not to be feared. What secret weapons could they have?
Public "indecency" is about the only thing I could see that would be wrong. I'd make him a member of the Polar Bear Club, based on his feat alone.

I spend a lot of time around the DC area myself. The rest in upstate NY. It is warmer down here, but not warm enough. Can't wait for warmer weather...not that I'm going to jog around the White House naked. This guy had to be a little off the mark or...from a colder climate and this was warm for him.

The thing in DC is, you need a group and a couple of signs. Then you can get away with "almost" anything. Hey FP, will you be here for NO-PANTS Sunday on Metro (the DC subway)? More crazy people in our nations capital. Sane people would have it in WARMER weather.

I'd like to have all the politicians go nude, and stop hiding all their corruption. It's time for dis-clothes-ure. How that would revolutionize them all. Imagine having to give a press conference in the nude. No more $2000 business suits. The inaugurations would in January would be mercifully short. This is too good to not think of all of the possibilities to make government better.
All this thanks to the guy who jogged nude near the White House, without explosives in his non-existent underwear.
