We've got a problem. I may have to shut down the chat, and I need ideas from our members.
The chat software we have been using kills our server, driving our bandwidth to expensive amounts. I am faced with rising costs for our free discussion forum live chat.
Would people be happy to pay a little to have this live chat 24/7, or just have it free one evening a week? Ideas?
I can't have it open but for a few hours (if at all) if we keep it free. Is that ok?
We do have quite an international community developing in this chat room!
Which evening (US time) would suit you personally, if we had the live chat open only one evening a week? Or, how much a year is the service worth to you if kept live 24/7 for paying members only?

Tuesdays at 9pm Eastern works great. Last night we had over 10 for at least an hr. I would be willing to send $ for a membership to keep it open.

I must admit I haven't been on chat for awhile, but I've always enjoyed the time spent there.
Are there any third party chat rooms/sites that may work for our purposes? Or different software/providers to replace the existing?
I'm not sure I would pay for the service. It would depend on how much it would cost and how much I thought I'd use it. I would probably make an effort to use it if I knew I could only get on once a week.

the only problem with the chat window is that it needs to be refreshed/reloaded again and again otherwise it gets still/stuck.

The next live chat room will be through the PalTalk system. This means we will have full two-way video, audio, and text as before.
The room will only be open when a moderator is available to run it.
To use this room, go to www.PalTalk.com and click Sign Up. You will create a password for yourself and then install the program. It's free, unless you want to upgrade it to high speed video.
Start PalTalk and click Groups. At the bottom the next window is a box for Show Adult Groups. Check it.
Scroll down to "Meet New Friends" and look for the room called "Nudist-Resorts.Org cam/mic/text All Nudists Welcome". You can type text as in the last chat room, or use your microphone and/or camera.
The moderator has the ability to eject or ban those that are not behaving. The room is rated R, which means NO explicit talk, and NO minors.

I like the Paltalk system better, but I rarely see the nudist-resorts channel available

Thats one of the draw backs of Paltalk Spontanudity, the chat room is not always going to be available. I think.
