Greetings,
I'm new to the set-up here and I have a question.
We will be in Crete at the end of September and I'm looking for some guidance to the best nude beaches over there.
There are 2 issues of H/E magazine in the past year, that have excellent and promising reviews of beaches all over Greece, including Crete, and a good endorsement of 'Vritomartis Hotel & Bungalows'. I'm left with the impression that 'naturism is in', big time.
However, the latest issue of TAN magazine (#50) has an article that gives me a very different sense, that we naturists are losing ground.
The travel guides I'm reading in preparation for our trip, mention quite openly that you will be sharing this beach or that beach with nudists/naturists. (Back to, 'naturism is in'.)
Who's been and can you help with some guidance?
… and if anyone been to 'Vritomartis Hotel & Bungalows', what do you think about it ?
Many thanks,
Soleil-man.

I haven't been to Greece/Crete in many years, but every island I went to had a nude beach of some kind. Printed material can become dated quickly; unless someone responds to your query with a firsthand account, I'd do a Google search for the latest info. You may find a recent experience online somewhere.

Hi Soleil- man.
My wife and I have been to south Crete several times in recent years. The last time being September 2010 including staying at the excellent Vritomartis. Take a look at Trip Advisor for reviews including mine. If you haven't yet booked, do so soon as the 4 days we were there last year it was pretty full. Vritomartis has the only official nudist beach on Crete, but there are many other beaches which naturists use. Take a look at Captain Barefoots website which is the 'bible' as far as naturist beaches in Greece. Did not think naturism had lost ground compared with previous years though I suspect in July and August (holiday period) that some naturist beaches will be swamped with non-naturist family groups.
all the best
Eros
