nudists as kimberly and red have attested are a pretty protective group, of each other of newbies, especially women. and as cheri can also vouch for, many , if not all, of the resorts are the same. have seen women at resort circle around a guy who was being obscene in his car, half dressed. he was gone in 10 minutes,.

and we are all VERY protective of the children

You are certainly right Calmnude, nudists are a close nit group, friendly and welcome everyone with open arms, but don't mess with the kids. Seems like it is the same way in nature, the goup protects the offspring. As I understand it, even in prison where there is no honour among theves, child molesters have a rough time.

Calmnude,

I've seen many men make unwelcomed advances towards single women at the beach. It really annoys and ultimately makes the women feel and uncomfortable and unlikely to return. Thus creating a gender imbalance. I'm not really sure how to stop it. I know there was talk of women wearing a ribbon in their hair as universal signal to men not to approach. I'm not sure thats the solution tho'.

Cheers,
Spontanudity

I tend to think there's nothing wrong with men approaching single people at the beach. Nudists are very friendly people (from my experience, anyway) and it's quite natural for everyone to be talking. Therefore, to say that men can't speak to single women would be quite strange. But I think it's important to note that talking is quite different from flirting or acting like a fool. I, for one, would probably enjoy talking to anyone at the beach so long as the guy wasn't being forward or commenting on certain body parts.

melissa, you'll find out quickly at beaches who the jerks are.

and at resorts, screening done quickly, no problems. you'll meet lots of nice men in both places.(and women too, of course)

Calmnude,

The screening side is why I think a resort is a better option for first timers than public nude beaches. They are generally more friendlier and open places than the beaches. Single males on beaches generally get a bad wrap or hit-on by gay males.

I agree with you Spontanudity, but I have also been propositioned at a club, but not as often as at the beach. As long as my hubby is right next to me, guys usually behave theirselves. We have had single women sit with us at the beach because they felt safer in a group. The feeling amoung a lot of single women is that you are fare game at a nude beach. Most women do not mind men coming up and talking to them at the nude beach, its just when the topic turns to sex that women feels uncomfortable.

Kim,

I guess that's the key... Couples really should offer support for single women at the beach. Maybe the couples should approach the women and initiate the offer?

This topic got me thinking in a different direction. I wonder if this has something to do with how some women cannot leave the house without looking a certain way? Think about the women who won't leave home without a certain amount of make-up, hair done a certain way, etc. I've even heard of some women who won't even let their husbands see them without make-up. There are some who carry with them a virtually complete make-up kit for constant touch-ups. It's as if they define themselves by the clothes they wear, the make-up they put on, and the way they do their hair. One lady was fired after only a few months because she kept calling in sick due to bad hair days. If a lady is this obsessed with their personal appearance or the hiding of their actual appearance, would a person like that be willing to bare all,...designer clothing, make-up, and styled hair? Could this be some psyco-phobia created by a society of fashion/glamor magazines and false expectations of beauty defined by high dollar make-up artist, professional photographers, air brushed photos, computer photo shop editing out of flaws, and professional women (actresses/models) who can afford to have all meals prepared for them and an in home gym with personal trainer? Possibly, all these things combined reduce the chances of some women being willing to even attempt attending a nudist group. My ex-wife is very religious but she's willing to try it. But she isn't a slave to fashion. Many a day she leaves home with no make-up at all and when she does wear make-up, it's hardly noticible.

Following that line of thought, think about men. Even though the level of men using personal face and hair care products has increased, even those men that use such products, when they get home are basicly an Al Bundy or Homer Simpson. We want to open our pants, scratch our selves (sorry for that mental picture ladies), and in many cases walk around in our underware or less. Many men dress up and do our hair for one of two reasons, 1. impress a lady or 2. go to work. Other than that, a chance to be free of that restriction is a relief to most men. Maybe that's why there's more men than women in nudist organizations.

You have some good points sailordave. I never wear hiar curlers to bed or at the table, and I always try to look my best for my hubby, just something I want to do. I know he has had a hard sometimes, and it feels good to look nice for him when he comes home.

As to looking nice, I've seen quite a few women at the nude beach who actually wear their jewelry.
