I skipped around, and read some, but not all the messages in this thread, but in my opinion a nude photo should only be considered porn if it invilves a sexual act. That act could be the pose itself as well.
I mean if a picture of a nude body were always porn, then I guess there are a lot of medical books out there with porn in them.
I like nude photos because they show the body in it's natural form as we were created. The human body is art just like anything else when presented properly can be considered very beautiful art.
Nude in photography does not automatically equal porn.

sailordave, i have heard of similar stories about "innocent" photos of kids in the tub being mistaken for "porn."
sbg, I agree with your comment on nude being a natural form. Some of the world's most famous art is in the nude form and it's not porn.

Nude pictures are not porn, and you are right, they have to be being doing something out of the ordinary to be called porn. Pictures of kids under 18 is considered porn. Accourding to our laws, kids under the age of 18 can not make the desicion to make nude photographs. There are so many weirdos out there that prey on the young, that the government has to do something to protect them. I have a good friend that had some nude photos taken, and now they are all over the net. It is a real source of embarrassement for her. She wishes she had had had better sence back then not to do it. It is a thin line that separates child pornography from just nude photos of the kids. So its better to be safe than sorry. There is so much child porn on the net and most of it comes from countries where there are no laws against child pornography.

I myself have posed for nude photos and have taken some of my wife both at the park and at home.We have posted one to the groups we subscribe to and have some on a personal web page. Some that I printed were put in the back of granny's baby picture book, she did it to keep from losing them, and my brother found them one sunday afternoon. His eye's got big for a min but it was more in fun than embarassment.I think it's more how we react than others attitude that determines how we and our pictures are percieved.

thats how many people think matt wendy. i have a few black and whites from ancient times. but you know there are always those who think we were born full dressed.
in our family, these are always good for a chuckle or 2 . almost everyone in the family has a couple.
and so it goes

Must everything sexual be considered "pornographic"? I realize pornography is hard to define -- think a Supreme Court jurist once quipped that although he couldn't define it, he knew it when he saw it. Still, there used to be something called erotica. It's been around for a long time, it's definitely sexual, and unless obscene, I don't think erotica is pornographic, although to some people, a string bikini would be considered lewd, let alone a naked body.
So, getting back to the original question, I don't think nude pictures are necessarily pornographic, even if their composition might rise to the level of erotica. I realize sex is a sensitive topic among nudists, but hopefully we can embrace it as as a healthy, natural part of life. Admittedly, there is a time and place for everything -- am firm believer in established nude beach/resort etiquette about appropriate conduct. But sometimes I sigh when the mere mention of the word "sex" gets bashed as if it's something dirty.
Grin & bare it ;)

skinnydipper,
I completely agree with your ideas. Sexuality is not obscenity. Look at the centuries of nude paintings and sculptures. And across centuries of prudish additudes. No doubt, the subjects of the artworks are always attractive. And I guess that's my point. It can be nothing more than an expression of appreciation for beauty. No less than the beauty of anything else in creation. Skies, mountains, wildlife, people, anything. If things weren't nice to look at, we wouldn't have any subjects to paint, sculpt or photograph. Why shouldn't people be amoung those subjects?

I agree with with Spontanudity its no big deal.I own a naturist resort in Spain and most of our guests are happy to be photographed nude and even post their pics on our MSN group which now has 100's of people happily enjoying their holidays. As a true lifelong naturist I have seen many thousand nude people and we are all much the same, why anyone should object to the human body is beyond me its a beautiful piece of natures work, ok men are less inhibited about their bodies than women and just because the may post their nude pic somewhere does not make them perverts. Pornography is more the needless violence and killing we see in everyday films and on tv, not natures natural creation.

I agree with the consensus of comments mentioned. Nude doesn't equal porn. We live in a fairly conservative country.
