Recent conflicts over nudism/naturism
2003-OCT-7: WI: Pastor's harassment conviction upheld: Regarding a pastor who was harrassing an unclothed woman at a nude beach-
... The appeals court decided that resorting to "epithets or personal abuse" is not protected speech. It ruled that: "Ovadal's statements had nothing to do with an exposition of ideas. Instead, they were abusive fighting words and are not protected by the First Amendment."

Jimmie, I assume some Florida communities/counties have ordinances that would prevent you from being nude in your own backyard. We're in a very conservative part of Fl, Collier county. As such, I don't plan on walking in my front yard naked. Fortunately we have a private backyard (one reason we bought the house) with no one behind us and plantings between our side neighbors. I'm still careful though. I applaud the guy in Stuart. As a side note, I really wish there was a nude beach on this side of the state.
Nude when possible, clothed when practical.

Like many, I also like to work outside in the nude, just do not get the chance. Some day this will not be such a big deal!

That's quite a video, NudeinAK. He has one nice neighbor, anyway. I tend to be quite libertarian, so it would never bother me if a neighbor were nude out front. That's his/her business; not mine.

As it is getting cooler outside up here, my outside time is getting shorter. Have a few sunny days coming up and hope to take full advantage of them. I am OK with the temps in the 50's as long as I can get a little sun shine.

Just saw the news clip and find it sad that this makes news. The attitude of the guy on the motorbike was poor, these people always talk about kids, well half of the kids will have the same genitals and half won't but have probably seen there parents or others, what is the big deal. As the journalist relayed the police were not bothered if he is not touching himself in public, this seems a reasonable approach by the police. It's sad that this makes news and the reaction of his neighbours.

I'm always very suspicious of those that go off on tangents about simple nudity, nudity around kids and such. I suspect they have some skeletons in the closet and their way of keeping attention off their deviant ways is to display a strong offense to simple nudity.
Loves being naked. Plays well with others!

Sadly history shows that your suspicion is often correct. Personally I think the nude guy should refrain from doing this out the front of his house, stay in his own back yard but he seems to be wanting to make a point and maybe that is not a bad thing.

For what it's worth, here's what I think about this guy.
1) he's no different than any other pioneer nudist that forced an issue to make a point and to further a cause many of us believe in deeply. If it weren't for people like this guy, we'd not have nude beaches, nude clubs, nude resorts, the ability to be naked in our backyards, in our home … it usually takes someone to test the authorities to make a point and further our rights.
2) now saying that, I would suggest that this guy has made his point, the cops are not hassling or harassing him. He's made his point to his neighbors and he should just keep his nudity to the backyard and try and be a good neighbor and keep the peace. IF he chooses to go our front to get something out of his car, take his trash cans out, he can do so naked but shouldn't make a habit of it just to prove his point
I go naked out in our front yard very late at night. I get something outta my car, I put the trash bins on the street, I'll move my car from the street to the driveway. I don't do it every night. I don't do it when I think anyone of our neighbors can see me. They have a few times and because I don't do it all the time and they've only seen me a few times, they don't hassle me about it or call the cops.
I'm much more attentive and careful since being seen!

A bit like yourself, I don't parade out the front of our house but I pick up the paper early in the morning when I know no-one is around. I have also retrieved things from my car also at night when no one is around. This guy is clearly trying to make a point, and I think he has, but I think he needs to take it back a notch now. Working on / under the car naked in the driveway is a little over the top and more than is necessary to make a point IMHO and can be seen as more exhibitionism than nudism.

It would so nice, if our chosen life style was a lot more accepted! Like many here, I have no issue working around our place, which has lots of trees/brush. Doing yard work, washing vehicles, out of general public view or just relaxing in the nude would be great. Being out in front yards in most cases is pushing the envelope!
