Driving just north of Santa Barbara about 35 miles you come upon many state and open beaches before you arrive at Gaviota State beach area. If you drive beyond the rest-stop to the next exit. You will notice before you get to the next exit on the right a little parallel road the dead ends to a little parking lot that is park of the state park trail. When you exit turn right and drive back down this small road next to the freeway to the end. pay your small parking fee $2.00 and then hike up the trail .5 miles bearing to the right and then looking for the trail sign point to hot spring. This spring is on the hill covered by Trees and hidden somewhat but it is a nice hot upper basin of water. You will detect the scent of sulfur seaping from muddy/silk bottom of the pool, the depth is shallow aobut 3-4 feet depending on the year. Nice place to relax and you will meet all sorts of interesting people. Typical age group again is teen to 30s. I would also stop off at some of the nude beaches south of the gaviota state beach past the petrochemical plant. You will notice cars just pulled over on the south side of the 101 highway. Just pull over and hike down to the beach. There are different paths and beach access for nude recreation. you will have to just stop and decide which is best for you. The most you pay is the $2.00 for the hot spring parking. Oh dont forgot to drive 15 miles north to Buellton for old fashion home cooking for lunch.
Nice find thanks. How does the crowd change during the year UCSB people? What percentage are nude? Any update since your last post? Thanks Jan funsun2@hotmail.com
it sort of independent of the UC crowd. Gaviota is a good place to meet and greet. Nice place to meet with friends and then later to campground for dinner or nude beach. Lots of different things going on. I wish the hot pond was deeper. its only about 3 to 4 feet deep. About 4-5 miles south of their I choose to go to the nude beaches just south of the exit where the oil refinery/storage is.
